These Robins are exhibiting mobbing behavior which is very common. When small passerines discover a predator they will scold it vocally and often physically attack it. This behavior has the benefits of discouraging and driving away the predator as well as alerting other birds to the presence of a predator. This behavior also refines a bird's ability to recognize predators; when other birds witness this behavior they lern to associate the commotion of mobbing with the presence of a predator.
I hate robins... flying shit factories. Stupid birds too. other birds don't bug me in the least, other than those turd birds... New England sparrows I think they are? More of a pest than pigeons!
That's what I thought. Then after a bird kept attacking one of the burrowing owls in my back yard for a few days, I found it dead right at the burrow entrance. I knew that bird was pressing his luck. poor thing.

It's a Barred Owl. Barred owls can't catch a bird that is flying. I'm guessing he's waiting for one to land or fall so he can get his revenge.

Just a possibility, but could there have been a robin's nest close by? I know birds do crazy things to protect their nesets.

These Robins are not in any danger; the owl needs the element of surprise in order to catch one.
