It's definately not a local issue to the United States. In Israel, you can't even get married in a CIVIL marriage - you have to get married through some sort of a religious institution (since most of the population is Jewish, that would be the rabbis). So gay marriage is entirely out of the question.

I keep thinking this is a religious issue - that is, religion is still powerful enough around the world to prevent this from being legal.

Legalization of gay marriage has not negatively affected anybody. Catholics will still donate to catholic charities - hell, I'm an athiest and I may still donate to catholic charities. Nobody is indoctrinating anybody. I have never been taught about gay sex in public or privately funded education.

Also, gays can't stop being gay no more than I can stop being brown haired. I may cover it up and hide it, but my brown hair will always win out.

you are compartmentalizing what is actually going on. you may not have been indoctrinated or taught gay sex or seen the profanity laced intolerant parades etc. but the fact remains that all of this stuff has happen already and continues to happen in your state. if you think i am bluffing , i am more than willing to show and prove you wrong

it doesn't surprise me to see and hear ,everytime there is a video , a person who happens to be an atheist, gay or both from that state to say nothings wrong

nothing is wrong with homosexual behavior. and I know that it's happening, even in states where it's outlawed, but I am against banning gay MARRIAGE in states. obviously they can't ban homosexual behavior, but their ban on a basic human right is what disgusts me.

if you are referring to gay marriage as a human right being banned, then you are mistaken. the union between a MAN and a WOMAN is a human right. the label "marriage" is just a subjective word that we label the activity. the word did not precede state and church. many cultures called that relationship by a different name. the relationship itself is the human right that is immutable and apart of natural law. therefore same sex marriage is just a socially constructed invention that doesn't exist

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I believe that marriage, including marriage between a man and a man, or a woman and a woman, is just as much as a basic right. Same sex marriage is natural, just as natural as attraction in a different sense.

how are your defining human rights because human rights by definition are supposed to be universal to all people at all times.

unless you have a made up definition of it, what makes you think gay marriage has been practice in every collective culture and religion sense the beginning of history?

Do you realize that they didn't consider this a basic human right just 100 years ago, but today it's almost universally accepted in any cultured society?

Basic human rights are defined by personal beliefs.

however, there is simply no basis in history or our constitution for that matter that would make light of what you are saying

you should look up the The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948, Article 16, no. 3 and no. 1

gender is not included in the marriage bid in this document but RACE IS INCLUDED

i do not know what part of Massachusetts your coming from but the legalization of gay marriage has adversely affected many people. catholic charities, the rate of Hiv and Aids has gone up, tons of people's tax paying money being used by gay activists to indoctrinate kids to promote their belief system, many obscene profanity laced gay pride parades and the many complaints from parents across the state who are being forced or not notified to have their kids be taught about gay marriage or gay sex

your analogy to homosexuality and race is misguided. being gay may or may not be a choice but living the gay lifestyle is a choice and that's why we are here. the government doesn't ask you whether you are gay or straight. sexual orientation has nothing to do with the issue.you can't compare an immutable characteristic (race gender etc) to somebody's behavior. A lifestyle is not a minority. Jews, blacks, and women were discriminated against for who they were not for who they were having sex with
