Some people need to listen to particular kinds of music or rhythms. I need to listen to Jamaicans talk; school english or patois (especially patois). I greatly appreciate the work of Frederic Cassidy in his "Dictionary of Jamaican English" and the work of Professor Hubert Devonish, Head of the Jamaican Language Unit of the University of the West Indies, but I need my constant fix of Jamaicans expressing themselves naturally in the distinctive musical language of Jamaica. I'm a a new fan.
@jblenkiron2004 Thanks man! Definitely there have been a lot of great work before my little efforts here. I just hope to add to the body of knowledge and have some fun along the way! Thanks for subscribing! :-)

i love it.. well done girl! Here in london, a lot of people ask 'do u speak jamaican?'.. i find it so irritating! But u summed up the video well! it shott!! mi baan an grow a jamaica miself! an mi nuh feel myself if mi nah talk patois to! hehe :)
jamaican patois has some spanish eg. "mi kaka"- my ass same in spanish, and some haitian creole as in patois m'wen-i went, its very similar to mwen-i in Haitian creole. we are very rapidly changing. maybe its because of the spanish-french-english-creole influence around us.
so glad I found this! I just got back from a one week vacation in Jamaica, and now I'm slightly obsessed with learning Patois haha Excited for more videos!
@claudiacloods, i can hear the excitement in your voice! Glad you had a good time in Jamaica. I have many more videos lined up, but please, if there is something specific you would like to know, feel free to message me
