I'm seeing the show in London next year. I'm a bit worried about the dancing thing - does it really work? The only other time I've seen a frontman backed by dancers was hysterical and my boyfriend and I couldn't stop giggling, especially if we caught one another's eye. It wouldn't be so bad but I'm in the front row centre stage...
The dancing is mostly random and unrelated, although not distracting. A couple of times in the show it appears to match the music, and have something to say on its own, or at least complements the music...a good example is on Life is Long.
Just saw the show 11/30/08 in New Bedford , Mass. AMAZING ! @ 1/2 hours of hard rocking genius. This video only gives a brief glimspe of how great this show really is. We were allowed to take as much video and pics as we wanted, and the wife wormed her way down front for some great footage. Won't post it, tired of all the smartass comments, but if you can see this show, it will blow you away. PS: He looked like the lead from The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. Do the rock dance, Paul !
saw this Amazing show at Austin City Limits Festival September. Amazing show and the best one at the festival. They also did the great Curve from remain in light along with crosseyed and painless and once in a lifetime. I grew up on Byrne's Music. Wonderful show, Byrne looks great as well, his life spark is still going strong.
David is glowing that weird shade either because this guy's camera is so crappy or the light was reflecting oddly off his BALD HEAD. I was there and saw an usher remind him that recording was not allowed. He was probably watching it on the way home while driving and talking on his cell phone.
LOL. You must have me confused with somebody else...an usher never approached me! I don't quite understand your comment and your choice to take a stab at me.
Thanks for sharing. Mr. Byrne has a very peculiar and engaging stage presence in concert videos, and it is interesting to see just how well the dancers are able to compliment this and his music.
Man, I can't wait another month to see this! It rules that he's doing The Great Curve!!! Why the hell were you people still sitting down during I Zimbra? That's insanity!
I am still not sure why I didn't go see him last summer.

Is this billed as "Byrne performing the songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno"? I'm seeing it at Radio City.
