  • bizarre that the singer could go sharp on such a high song...

  • soloist goes very sharp at 0:40 ... good arrangement nonetheless.

  • soloist goes really sharp at 0:40 ...

  • Nice job, F YEAH Journey!

  • Great job

  • why go to see something like this and make noise during it.....i would love to hear it with out yells and cat calls. wtf crowd.

  • look at them they are having a lot of fun, good on them :)

  • they are the best

  • great voice

  • props to the lead singer, not very many people can hit those notes, most people need to sing this an octave lower. Good job ll around

  • wasn't that guy who did the mock guitar effects from 0:50 to 1:04 anoop? and wasn't that pablo just next to him in the back?

  • @27kdon Yes! And yes!

  • @clefhangerfan lol i didnt realise until i watched this for the 5th time

  • They should go on that show "The Sing Off"

  • This was actually REALLY good :P

  • This is better than original version!

  • it sounded a bit off in the beginning....got better towards the ending tho

  • haha Glee totally got their version from you guys...

    This is so awesome ;p

  • Oh god that soloist... I'm sorry... could not hit those notes...

  • I think Journey would say, Damn straight, man! As a fan I just want to put on a white shirt and vest and stand in the back and pretend to sing. Great Job guys!

  • i think the solo singer did good. i mean, we're used to hear steve perry, i assume, and no one does it better then perry. but he get a gold star for heart ^^

  • i bet that this video made ryan murphy popped the idea to feature this song in glee :)

  • That is Brilliant!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!

  • I feel really sorry for that dude. He started out ok, but then, well you know. They should have had a guy tak his place somewhere in the middle.

  • you know why this so good, he's emoting his singing so it doesn't sound like all these bland covers

  • someone's beatboxing XD

  • It's absurdly funny that no one can sing those Steve Perry notes.

  • @joejjc well, there is a reason we call them "Steve Perry" notes :P.

    but i still agree..

  • Those really high notes are very tough... But when he sings in the range that he's comfortable with it's really lovely!

  • the excitement is palpable.

  • Nice tribute to Eve , She would have been proud.

  • can you blame him? thats insanely high.. and doing down the octave or fauceto is out of the question

  • high school steve perry

  • amazing!! one of the best if not "THE" best version i have heard online well done ;)

  • ANOOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The best performance of Dont stop believing by a guy. Hands down. That is hella hard to do what he did. Because i have seen women do the solo. But your right xpowertumblerx he kind of like cracks his voice and goes flat at 3:21.

  • 3:21 omg so flat.

  • he is flat when he belts, but the background people are amazing =] good cover.

  • no anoop and what happen to the short mexican guy.

  • @hollywoodjokerpicalo Theeeeeeeeey graduated....... And Pablo isn't really short, most of these guys are 6' +. And he's Peruvian. So, yeah....

  • yeah but there not giants he is really short most of the time he's at like there crotch. thanks for the info by the way. I just wanted to see Anoop stuff and ended up watching like 2 hours of these dudes.

  • @clefhangerfan That pisses me off..... how do you know he is mexican?

  • @mkellen23 What pisses you off? Pablo is Peruvian, not Mexican, and I know this because I am close personal friends with him.

  • @hollywoodjokerpicalo I think anoop is right behind the soloist

  • @hollywoodjokerpicalo Anoop is the one behind the lead doing the air guitar

  • Sick. The background is lively, I like that.

  • Fuck yeah! Awsome!

  • it would be the clef hangers and the beelzabubs going at it for the win

  • When I saw the Beelzebubs' performances, they totally reminded me of the Clefs. They both have the same vibe IMO--very high energy, very entertaining, and they gel great!

  • I think its brilliant actually and id love to see you do better :)

  • you guys should go on that new show "Sing Off". You would totally wipe the competiton with your outstanding performances

  • I totally agree. The Clefs would definitely win Sing Off!

  • Really good performance. Backround vocals kind of picked up on the soloist a bit but he did well in compensating back up. Should probably do this song earlier in the set though, since the fatigue of the previous songs were catching up heh.

  • fastchapter stfu and leave him along he sould good no matter what

  • I'm with clairebug, he needs a little more work with his vocals for a song like this. It's not bad, but he does come off as yelling moreso than singing here and there.

  • Cut him a break. This was a live performance, one of mroe than a dozen songs that night. His voice was tired. Listen to it on the TIME OUT CD and you'll forget you heard this one. I just don't think there needs to be so much discussion about it.

  • good soloist is good

  • yell!? are you serious?

  • does he have to yell?? otherwise really awesome

  • dammm i luvvvvvvv anoops air guitarr hes so hawtttt

  • little bit outta sync

  • david bardin...i love you! marry me!

  • Too much crowd noise.

  • Way to go getting the high "NIGHHHHT"

  • EXCELLENT.

  • Great, except for reaching for the high notes.

  • singer is amazing

  • so many really bad accapella's of the tune out there - gotta say that you guys hit the spot tho!

  • great!

  • this is amazing!!!!!!

  • LOVE IT!

  • his voice starts to strain at the end but he is still very good!

  • THAT WAS AWESOME

  • wheres anoop?? i luv himmmmmmmm

  • nvrmnd he duz a sweet air guitar!! lolz LUV IT

  • anoop was there he came to the side and made the "high notes" faking a guitar.

  • anoop is behind the singer singing the melody, i believe

  • HAHAHA i wasnt sure if i was just hearing things but ya i heard htem going sharp too lol. still awesome

  • talented guys.love it!

  • 1:47 sooo rad. I love this!

  • That is some intense body bopping.

  • Looks like a circle jerk.

  • hahahahaa

i laughed so hard at that

  • @stahburst hehehehe indeed!!!!

  • Did anybody else notice that they started going sharp and ended up in Journey's key?

  • Wow. That's such a hard song to cover because everybody knows it and it's a magnet to critiquing. Great job on the high notes dude, it gets hard after the first round of them. lol

  • i was in an acapella group at Cornell...it was called Here Comes Treble.

  • no-one cares

  • I do. That's awesome! Did you do that song too?

  • jajajajaja

  • The Clefs are AMAZING <3

  • Anyone that likes this song should pick up the BOCA (Best of College Acappella) 2008 album. It is the first track and studio quality. Awesome job guys : )

  • almost as good as the tone rangers

  • ok, these guys officialy rule! I'm subscribing :DD

  • CLEF hangers! AMAZING!

  • Does anyone know who also covers this? It starts out being sung by a man, then the rest is finished by a woman with an amazing voice.

  • i'm pretty sure you're talking about the glee club version of this song

    :]

  • glee club

  • glee

  • club

  • anoop shouldve been the soloist. he'd be alot better than this guy.

  • Anoop was already doing the solo for just about every other one of these guys' songs at that point, you've got to let other guys in the group get their chance to do a solo, no one wants to see the same guy do the solo song after song.

  • Anoop is a great singer, but I think this song would've been out of his range

  • @Chachoondar. Not that I don't agree with you, maybe it would've been out of his range, but Anoop sang a part of these high notes on Idol, and they were great.

  • it would have been out of his range there are not many people that can hit these notes successfully and tastefully in the world. so David does a great job

  • Nice job UNC Clef Hangers!

  • I see Anoop :)

  • that was pretty dam cool! and the air guitars were hilarious!!!

  • the lead singer isnt amazing especially for an a capella group an UNC , i was expecting more. he hits the notes, but NO personality in his voice.

  • i agree but he s good anyway !

  • this is so awesome

  • haha yeah i thought of them too when it was on Glee. really great video and performed very well!

  • This song is stupidly difficult for an acapella group to do.

And those high notes are SO difficult if you're a classically trained singer - it goes against everything you've learnt, ever ever ever!

So hats off to these guys, this is the best version I've ever heard.

  • @Hollygon92 I have to disagree with you there. If you have TRUE tenors singing high notes, they can classically sing the hell out of them. I'm blessed to be an accompanist for one, and his falsetto literally goes up to C#6. No exaggerations, and that's just warmed up.

This soloist sounds like a low tenor/high baritone voice, which makes this so difficult to sing. And this isn't a very difficult song. There are a lot of ostinatos and extras yes, but the core is maybe 5-7 chords.

  • Huh. I love the Clefs but I have to say, the soloist struggled with this one, especially the high notes. It's not horrible by any means, but not perfect either.

  • omg!! that Air guitar

  • sick!!!

  • this song is on iTunes to download. Type in University of North Carolina and the album is Boca 2008: Best of College a Cappella.

  • OK I just WATCHED GLEE AND THOUGHT OF CLEFHANGERS WHEN THEY SANG THIS SONG

THIS IS NOT CLEFHANGERS BEST BUT I THINK IF DAVID HALL WOULD SING IT, IT WOULD BE GREAT, SEAN CURRLIN CAN BUT I TIHKN DAVID HALL CAN ACE THIS SONG, HE HAS A BETTER RANGE THAN THIS ONE

  • This was so awesome :)

  • they did very well at the beginning but the soloist really lost it at the end trying to hit the high notes...it is a little flattish and pitchy at sum points but on the whole it was really gud :)

  • true. some pitchy parts.

  • ANOOOOOOOOP!!!!! ......from American Idol!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know if anyone else that listened to this has perfect pitch, but listen to how flat the group goes from start to end. It's shocking.

For those who can't tell, watch the video, and then right when the song ends, rewind to the beginning and listen to the difference in pitch.

  • lol omg your so right...like all of it is flat..eww

  • hahahah these guys are good ;D

  • they should totally try out for America's got talent!! cause they need to show it off and become big!!

  • oh give him some slack.

i thought he did phenomenal until towards the end... then it got pitchy.

    but awesome awesome!

  • he is sooo sharp in places. his voice pierces my ears but was very fun to watch!

i do like his voice, it was just pitchy

  • The vocalist isn't in tempo with the beat and rhythm in most parts.. He's also struggling to hit the notes..

    But that's fine... Forgivable..

  • Thank you so much for posting all of these videos, Anoop's so awesome

  • I love this performance, both live and on "Time Out" - and I totally dig Anoop's air guitar...I've re-watched it a *ahem* few times because I was so amazed that he can make that sound...

  • omg the lead is struggling to hit the high notes

  • Comment removed

  • This was definitely good, but I still missed the two one-upped high parts of the "peopaahh-Ahhh-AHHH!" that the lead guy kept on one note (that he sounded he was really straining for).

  • My father taught Anoop's voice teacher how to sing. 0.o

  • just to be clear u cant really teach some 1 how to sing they have to have the ability to sing and the teacher can help improve parts but thats cool just clarifying sorry

  • I love the way they're moving.

  • Woah! ANOOP?! I don't believe this

  • LOL. Anoop!

  • OMFG ANOOP O_O

  • his voice suits the song. its the same "type" of vocal with the original i think. though he should somehow need to avoid shouting much...Anoopfan..

  • major props to the lead singer. Very impressed with this rendition

  • ANOOP GOT ROBBED!!!!!

  • Anoop dawg at 0:56 playing his Air Guitar Solo

    LMAO XD

  • ITS ANOOP!!! lol

  • can someone fill me in?....anoop is in this group? the guy off of american idol?

  • Yep. Anoop from AI. He was a Clef Hanger from 2004-2008. Check my playlist in this channel for all the Anoop solo songs.

  • Yes he is.

  • did anoop quit the clefhangers?

  • he graduated

  • lol ! imagine the look on kara's face if anoop's "frat boy friends" jumped up on stage from the audience and sang ! they totally should've done that ! ;D

  • they shoulda totally done that!! they should do that sometime just to make her eat her words!! anyone notice that Anoop apologized, when he didnt even need to, and there's been no mention whether Kara has or not??

  • darn..u r so right i want the Kara woman to eat her words...i hope she feels bad after she said that to Anoop on National TV...i mean seriously..Anoop shud answer to ryans question ...ugh i hate that Kara BitchioGuardi

  • oh look. he's enjoying. he should be more like this on AI. :)

  • ANOOP DOG!!!!!!

  • i wish anoop could show more goofy-theatrical aspect on AI like he has done with this group. mix it up really good, noop dog! keep us guessing!

  • Nice Air guitar by Anoop at 0:55

  • really really cool. tehse gusy are amazing. at last and shadow of the day are really good too

  • wow ! they sang this as their group performance song on american idol ! i couldn't help smiling the whole time hoping anoop would do the air guitar like in this video - which of course unfortunately he didn't.. but it was a cute performance though.. :)

  • oh yeah! i was hoping anoop would do the air guitar too hehehe

  • Hold up. Anoop Desai as in American idol contestant Anoop Desai?!

  • Yes, that's the same Anoop. I have a playlist on this channel of all the songs Anoop was the soloist for while he was in the Clef Hangers. Take a look! Make SURE you watch The Only One For Me, Kiss Kiss, I'll Make Love To You, Sexy Love - then contact Idol judeg Kara DioGuardi and inform her she is a Whack Job for her comments last night!! :-)

  • LOL. right, right. that frat boy comment was way below the belt.

  • Yes! These guys are amazing. It just shows how much of a bimbo Kara DioGuardi is! These "frat boys" could out-sing any loser she writes songs for! It just shows how idiotic Hollywood really is! She needs to leave the show . . . and take Ryan Seacrest with her!

  • YES! i really dont like kara at all.

  • ANOOP DOGG IN THE HOUSE LOL

  • Is there a later version of this song?Perhaps with David Hall as soloist?

  • Nope - this is it, they recorded this one on their CD "TIME OUT".

  • I'm in love with the clef hangers!

  • this is so funny to me, i dont know why :]

bu ti still like it !

  • great talent hope he goes all the way :)
