  • this video is clearly fake, you can hear in 0:23 that the progression of notes changes to e a d a e d g q d fttvnmgfdht which is clearly a mistake according to the original sheet music of this song, which, by the way, was written by the famous asian guitar player, Chuck Norris ...

  • As an amateur guitar rapist I just abandoned all hope...

  • I know the songs are in the description, but what song is played at 6:50

  • My new favorite!

  • Magnificent!!!!

  • ależ to cudne....

  • U guys can find this song only deep in the Siberian countryside. Grandmothers ( Babushki) sing them and play too. Russian folk - not a popular thing. The reason is simple - a closed country - closed art. But now even Russian lost their own folk ( narodnaja ) music.

  • @PauleFriedenburg

One thing foreigners seem to ignore, is that Russia has been always "closed" from the outside. The concept of |iron curtain", for instance, was invented by Goebbels and then applied by western countries. USSR wanted to trade with the west - most of the west said "no". USSR wanted to join NATO - the west said "no". USSR wanted a pact with western countries against Nazi Germany in late 30's - the west said "no". And that's only a few facts from the Soviet period.

  • @Mocsk

Stupidest shit I've ever read ... And why does all your arguments about the Iron Curtain, when we talking about music?

  • @PauleFriedenburg

you started talking about a closed country. from my point of view, as a russian, this is the stupidest shit Ive ever read. but then I thought about it, remembered and checked some historical facts (unlike you), and there you go.

  • @PauleFriedenburg All I said is just about Russia wuz closed country with planned economy ( don't give a fuck about the world's market ). And that's all. Chill.

  • @Mocsk

    bullshit

  • On the sixtieth guitar of "Fender" balalaika player wishes to speak with a tool that more than a century. And Alexei Arhipovsky, met a few puzzled applause, made so that, at this evening program would follow close. Virtuoso world-class, owning a balalaika not even in perfection, and beyond comprehension, he his ten-minute etude tightly "closed" all shown to him the technical tricks, and the music was more inventive than an order of magnitude.

    Russian folk isn't popular.

  • I feel sorry for him, no matter how brilliantly he plays the audience will still just sit there and stare at him like zombies.

  • Определенно Алексей играет на струнах гениально, а вот по деревяшкам стучит примитивно, а может и не стоит, инструмент поберег лучше.

  • Браво маэстро...

    спасибо за этот звук....

  • @reservationsplatser sorry I write wrong I mean bandolim when i type Balalaika.

  • @reservationsplatser Det går bra med svenska också, hur menar du?

  • @joeceph ok hur stämmer man en balalaika, i tonerna på strängarna?

  • @reservationsplatser The strings are tuned E-E-F.

  • @reservationsplatser E, E (the same ) and A

  • @reservationsplatser 'tis EEA

  • @reservationsplatser

    E E A

I think you mean to say "tuning", not "meeting". the lower 2 strings are nylon and the highest is steel, iirc

  • 5:00 - 6:18 - what is that? author? title? does anyone know?

  • @maciejkadb

first part is an excerpt from a soundtrack of 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson', a series of russian films based on Conan Doyle's works, from 80's, composer is Vladimir Dashkevich, the second part is Bach's toccata in Dm, It seems that he usually combines this theme from the film with other classical pieces

  • @maciejkadb 'toccata and fugue' by Bach

  • вау супер!!

  • This is a Balalayka!

  • I wish that I had the talent to play mine like this.

  • Awesome artist

Can anyone tell me, where was made this video? Thnx!

  • Супер!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • are those steel strings or nylon?

  • Probably both. Two nylon strings about the thickness of a spanish/nylon guitars G string tuned to E, and a thin steel string tuned to A, that's the standard. For the prim balalaika it's almost always like that, although there are all steel string models out there too (I own one 1970 steel stringed, and one 1966 nylon/steel). Another commonly used tuning is D-F#-A that is more optimized for solo playing. The prim is supposed to be the tenor instrument in an ensemble usually, though.

  • @joeceph

I think what he's playing is one size larger than the prima Balalaika. I do know the prima is traditionally strung E-A-A and the first E & A are nylon and the high A is steel and is generally the main solo string. I play with a few balalaika players and they all have their own tunings, seems like C-E-A is a popular tuning as well, I usually tune it G-B-E like the bottom of a guitar.

  • @easygoinperson I meant E-E-A...

  • @hammetguitarist 2 nylon strings and one steel

  • вот это да !

как же он играет,просто нет слов .

  • gênio genio genius

  • super!!!

  • RESPECt!! what instrument is that? this guy is soo talented and i love his snese of humour! are those high ,otes harmonics? or how does it work? 5*

  • It's a Russian folk instrument, called balalaika. Three strings, normally tuned E-E-A. The harmonics are so called natural harmonics, or touch harmonics. They occur at different frets (the points are called nodes) and they tend to be octaves or fifths. You can move the nodes by fretting correspondingly, so if you grab the 2nd fret of a given string, the nodes are moved two frets up, which allows you to play entire melodies in harmonics and even combining them with legato techniques or similar.

  • @joeceph

Good explanation how this instrument works, but how many octaves balalaika actually have? What is the lowest and the highest note that one could play with balalaika.

  • Totally Meistro

  • Самое смешное, что у балалайки из 3-х струн 2-одинаковые.

  • Depends on how you tune it)))) I sometimes play with D-F#-A instead of E-E-A. But you're right, with proper orchestral tuning two are the same, and of course they remain the same thickness/kind even if you tune it differently.

  • @antigerpes в одной октаве?

  • @Zeinishe Да

  • @antigerpes Да.
