I lost 1 bar in the process and I think that was because it fluctuates between 3-5 bars in my room. So it went from 5 to 4, not so bad if you ask me. I was able to load webpages just as fast with a death grip.

iPhone4 sucks. Both mine and my wifes one had problems and then both replacements had problems which were unacceptable. Sometimes my sound would stop working for no reason and my wifes screen wouldn't turn on even after restarting it. It really turned from an awesome anniversary gift to a shitty one. You'd expect you would get something good for how much it is hyped up to be.
Oh yeah and I also confirmed the antenna issue. I didn't buy the cases, I thought Apple were jokers by that stage.

What's funny is I own the iPhone 3G and I have similar antenna issues. Except with my phone it's if I'm holding it period. I have to set it down for the internet to work better without WiFi. So I really don't see a difference. But regardless of the issue it's still a good phone and despite Steve Jobs' speech, I will still continue to buy the product.

This video shows that when you put a bumper on the iphone4, it will totally rock. It looks like it is loading the CNN webpage about 4x faster than my Motorola Droid on Verizon. What area do you live in? Maybe the iphone4 will make the AT&T network pretty tolerable after all

the antennas are shorting out. if you put a case on it the issue will go away. to me it sounds like apple should of coverd the antennas in some kind of thin plastic to keep this issue from happening.

@rlhuszar323 This is a very normal way to hold the phone when you're using the Internet, and that's one of the major problems. The antenna flaw chokes off your data flow, just as it causes the phone to drop calls.

My phones will always have cases anyways so it makes absolutely no difference to me at all with this problem. I am waiting for the white Iphone though. The thing is people can always take the phone back within 30 days for a refund, so If you dont like the phone take it back and get something else. People bitch because its Apple envy thats all.

@mrsegger I DONT like the physical keyboard thats why I bought an Iphone in the first place because I kept pushing the wrong buttons on my Blackberry; which actually was a great phone just my fingers are kinda big. I did like the track ball on it though. I have some friends running those android and droid phones and I still think Apple has the best mobile OS out there so Im gonna have to disagree with you on that one. Maybe you could mention why you like droid OS better; I hear its very buggy.

Okay, just picked up my new iPhone 4 today from the AT&T store today in Raleigh, NC (was number one through the door BTW). I think I have watched every single video displaying the reception issue. I have tried every conceivable way to decrease the signal but so far have not been successful. This includes touching the black separator bar on the bottom left, and securely grasping the phone in the fleshy part of my palm with my left hand. Both for extended periods of time. Zero problems here.
