And as my article shows, even biodegradable balloons can last - and do harm - for a year or more.

The balloons are only biodegradable after 6 months to 4 yrs -- AFTER they have killed birds & turtles who think they are squid, kelp or plankton. Who's going to pick up the stupid senseless mess you made - but we know you could care less. Yes bikeyoda that's why we "hate" nascar and the organizers of such a helium-wasting inane spectacle. Latex only lasts about as long as an oak leaf on the ground.

No actually - balloons are made from - latex which is natuarally found in gum trees etc, and once released they float to approx 2miles high - burst in to lots of little pieces and then once back on earth degrade at the rate of an oak leaf.
