Wow cool post. Love Patto I saw Ollie Halsall playing guitar with Kevin Ayres in Munich back in '88 they were supporting Pierre Moreleon's Gong. An amazing gig. Thanks for showing this stuff, cheers James, Manchester, UK
I am sending out your record with two others for fellow VC members by week end. I am pretty sure I saved your mailing info. If not I will PM you again. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Oh, your haircut looks very cool.
@bigstar1000 Well my collection isn't that big, it's just made of essential pieces. I try to stick to a strictly no filler policy. Doesn't always work.
Outstanding post Sir Fred. Your collection must go miles deep into your walls. You know what I admire about your collection, it is the depth of your records. It is sort of like you thought out each of your records before you bought them. You can tell a well researched long time collection rather than a newer collection any day. It is the here and there rarities like you are showing that makes it so unique and all your own. I hope you know what I mean.
Somebody got a new hair-do!!!!!!! I find quick randomness like this to be both inspiring and a new source of madness. Loved this! I need some Italian prog. Maybe. Always a pleasure, man!
What a killer band Patto was. Ollie Halsall was certainly one of the most underrated guitarists ever, all the classic "guitar heroes" sang his praise but sadly the major public and media never gave him the attention he deserved. Cool choices, great video!!
Gille Lettmann was the girlfriend of Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser, head of OHR records. Sadly both went nuts and aliened everyone so much that all profits from the label were lost.
I have often wondered about Patto and that Frier Tuck album. I dip into eBay once in a while, but never see them at a price i want to pay. Will watch the next video ...if I can be bothered! :-)
my collage mate Dave played me the demo tape of clearlight symphony before it was released. ...he had just started as Gong´s sound technician, better known as David id.
fred, great covers, cool band names, and i'm sure the music is very good as well. so nice of you to do this presentation for dereck. gosh, so much music in the world. i really liked the embryo cover! makes me wonder who is giving up these records and why. i remember that drawing found on the philadelphia band cover. love that yellow and white cube cover. great artwork!
I greatly appreciate you showing these, great records! I have Tertio by Atoll and the American pressing of that Atomic Rooster. Great to see that Cosmic Jokers! I must get Cybotron! Good to see Jan Akkerman included. Awesome you have the Friar Tuck! You're right, the first Jane is the best. Sweet Mandrake Memorial! Great last choice with Patto! Thanks so much!
Not much I can do except shake my head in amazement and drool. Mind blowing records there. Is that Alphataurus a reissue? If I'm not mistaken, the original pressing is a triple gatefold, showcasing that incredible cover art image of the bird dropping missiles! Also, that Atomic Rooster cover is fantastic. There's an alternate cover that exists which doesn't even come close.
That alpha omega is a rarity!
Great label clear light of Jupiter..my cybotron is a French press on crypto..

There seem to be an inordinate number of Italian prog bands from over the years. They like their prog in Italia.
