Do you know how many eggs this large spawning female would have laid? Do you know the dent you put in the already suffering population? It is a nice trophy and a hell of an accomplishment but is it worth it? The mercury in that fish due to years of bio-accumulation would render the meat pretty much toxic. I'd like to think that I would have let it go but I can't be sure, adrenaline may have grabbed ahold of me. It is just a shame that those genes no longer exist in the now suffering gene pool.
