that is so EPIC and if i had that train i will do awesome things to it i have sooooooooooo many thing in my mind to do with the train my head will explode
@boomerang403 All of my trains are custom creations, so this one is different than the LEGO passenger train set #7897 from a few years ago. My ICE train was modeled after the DB ICE 3 class 406 International edition that can be seen running between Switzerland, Germany, France, and The Netherlands, for example.
@BatchFiles99 Thinking about it for sure... but probably won't have time to start a new train project for a few months unfortunately. Some new videos still in the works though!
@TheFan630 Yes, but this gets complicated very quickly, as the control point is common to both trains and they travel at different speeds due to their different weights. I am considering converting one of them to the LEGO Power Functions system though, which would allow for easier control with multiple trains on one track.
@DraqNaq2011 Thanks for your comments. The ICE 3 is the appropriate length, while I generally run the TGV with a shorter consist, you're correct. The reason for this is largely speed, since between having the shared bogies (fewer wheels and points for friction) and being lighter, the TGV can really fly. I do like it full length too (2 locomotives + 8 carriages), and I have some more videos in the works featuring the full model. Stay tuned!
I'd like to point out that the TGV is an articulated train, the bogies are shared between carriages. Therefore, upon crash, they don't deform as much as conventional non-articulated trains and they don't fold, resulting in much higher safety for passengers. I don't know if you tried to reproduce this behaviour on your LEGO train, but if you didn't, you might want to try it and see what happens :-)
@abj0000 Thanks for your comments. My TGV model does indeed feature shared bogies between carriages, except for the connection between the first and last carriage and the locomotive, which uses magnets. You can see the results of this arrangement in a crash in the video! : )
@TheXcaliber223 Ehhh more than I'd care to admit (I don't keep count), but the nice thing is that the model goes back together quite easily. This is the beauty of LEGO trains -- they can crash, fall off the table, etc. etc. and they just go right back together! If you change your mind and want to rebuild part of your model or indeed build a different train, just take it apart and use the pieces as you like. : )
Nice vid, sometimes its fun to watch trains crash. Ps,How do you get a loco you built at your house at one of the train shows? I was looking at that vid you posted in 09 and will soon be posting a vid of a loco I made soon.
@Zaxeryzax Thanks for your comments! I sometimes display my trains with the local LEGO club, so it was on one such occasion that I made the other video. You can search the web site LUGNET for clubs all over the world. Cheers!
On saturday evening when the visitors were gone, we have put 2 power supplies in series and made some high speed runs with the loco of my Shinkansen. At 16 V, before crashing it reach 12 km/h. See video p5F2Il1tK6s on youtube. The crash is not really due to the rail but just to the too fast speed for such curves.
In the same order of idea, I run two long trains on the same railway this week end with a final colision see video cm8O_bx7Rck on youtube. This is made possible by sectionning the railway into 9 part of equal length and by having one power supply per section.
Hey I just had a small question, did you get all the parts for those trains from different lego sets or do you have some sort of shops in the US (assuming you're from there, excuse me if you aren't) where you can get individual lego bricks?
@FarosWarrior Thanks for your kind comments. Some of the parts were from my collection, but most of them I ordered through the web site Bricklink, which has sellers from all over the world, most of which ship worldwide too. You can also order individual LEGO bricks through Pick-A-Brick from the LEGO online store. And just to set this straight, I'm from Canada. ;) Cheers!
Awesome train wreck! The German ICE 3 survives while the TGV's front end is destroyed. Do you have any plans of selling copies of your trains on ebay?
@HungryGuyStories Precisely. This is the best part of LEGO trains... if there "happens" to be a crash, you just put them back together again! I have never broken a brick... quality materials. ;-)

@abj0000 I´d say that I love you if you where a women: I just couldn't wait till someone would say this.
TGV carriages are articulated - as you already said.
ICE carriages are normal wagons with 2 Bo´Bo´ boogies capable of going up to speeds of 300 km/h - I know that because I live in Germany.
