OMG you just destroyed the songs beauty rythm is very important in fact more important than just playing fast...also treat the piano nicely so it can treat you back nicely
why is he rushing, even if he is good he lacks this what we call passion. but he is good great and fast hands the talent is there but it feels like the heart is not there.
That was good..... but not perfect... i think that Wilhelm Kempff could give you some advises.... but hes death... however, the speed is too fast and i couldn´t feel emotions....which is very important..........
I think this speed for moonlight sonata 3rd movement is fine, however this is definitely not an excellent performance. Too much pedals, too little emotions and some mistakes there...
Although this guy is very good, I felt like I was watching a Benny Hill skit. You know, the little bald guy getting slapped in the face with a dead fish in high speed...It does feel rushed., Wilhelm Kemphff plays is best....
lol its the 3rd movement, and played very well I might add. Play how you feel it, not how you think Beethoven would have played it. He wasnt trying to play like someone else when he played it. The feeling is the point. Who are all these side judges in here? And why must your criticize something like this?
Good Job and dont change anything, play how you feel.
everyone need to shut up about him hes a great piano player ALOT better than alot of other people id like to see you guys play it perfectly at this tempo the only thing he did wrong was rushed and thats just about it
WTF is this about him playin differently cause he's asian? i'm an asian piano player and i can tell you we don't play better, worse, faster, or slower just because of race
Now here's some USEFUL criticism: anyone can tell that this guy has not practiced enough to be playing this piece at this pace. He should at least practice it much more slowly before attempting to play it at this tempo.
He fucking sucks, hold that pedal down some more to cover up some of that sloppiness, why don't people play at a speed they can actually play well. Asians work at slightly faster speed? More like those damn chinks can't play it well anyways at what speed it was meant to be played so play it fast and shitty yeah that sounds great. Like i said hold down that fucking pedal some more.
I know there are stupid people on Youtube, but I am just telling the truth. And by the way, I love playing this peace and have already played it in two concerts.
I'd love to see half the people badmouthing this guy do a better job. Seriously, people. It's not perfect, but it's still a performance to be proud of, without a doubt.
wow.. i like interpretation.. but one thing! play a BIT slower.. especially when you go into part like 0:28 .. but i really DO like your interpretation:D

well yea thts true 4 some chinese people but some really do pour their soul into it.
im not chinese but i just put tht comment up there bcuz a lot of people critique chinese people harshly on the piano wen they dont know the whole truth to it
Sheeesh, you bastards are harsh! I thought it sounded great. So what - speed can be tempered! The dude is GOOD - Let him have his moment in the sun! More power to you, buddy!
yes, but put into consideration, thatt the sound quality isn't the greatest it can be, I mean it's fair, but now uber great, it may have sounded better then if the sound was filtered out a little. But I think your right, it is played a little bit to fast, take it down about 50 BPM, I think he'll be fine! ^_^
Ok, it's a little fast but he says he's relearning the song a little bit slower. BUT a least we all know that he can play very well and very fast at the same time =P
Really great with the notes. While i do agree, it sounds a little mechanical. It's amazing you've learned this, all you gotta do is put in that little spark ;)
This piece is supposed to rush the audience and give them a sensational mood. Your version fails to do that, you got the notes, just slow down, and try to put more heart into this, this piece can be remarkable.
knows all the notes, but has absolutely no understanding of the meaning of this movement... its a march.... or a dance. This version sounds more like a rush or a glide...
that is an example for not having understanding the composition - his mechanical facilities are enough but he has to consider what kind of piece this is- the music disappears with such a tempo
Too fast!! You can't make out the notes. That makes is very hard to hear the harmony, and playing fast doesn't create the "beethoven" flow, easier to hear the breakes beetween the frases. Otherwise, a vell done job, it is a hard piece. I'm into the piece myself, and I'll be glad if I can play half as good as you =)
Yes, we know Kempff did a better job at this song, but does anyone do it better than him? No. I think this sounds amazing, just because it is a kick ass song, and hard to play at the normal speed. This is twice as fast and not even that sloppy! Cheers to the pianist, great job. Try slowing it down a bit though. Atleast you noticed it was too fast. ;-)
NO man , your just bad/too young , He made HAMMERKLAVIER FOR that purpose but failed ,since so many pianists can tackle it, and that was not hte case in BEethoven's time, he made Hammerklavier to keep pianists busy for years to come.. IF HE could have seen what LIStz has done for piano writing, he would turn in his grave!!!!! THANK GOD FOR GENIUSES
i completely agree with you but you have got to admit some people who really try to "interpret" are trying way to hard with just the speed and don't care about the intensity of the piece and just want to get throught it without slowing down for the incredibly broad dynamic integers for such a fast song. but maybe beethoven just wanted it to be kind of a mystery piece maybe no one will acutally know exactly "how" it's supposed to be played. it could be that piece that could sound good either way
I've studied at Juliard for the past twelve years ans to a trained ear such as mine I can tell the different notes but to the common listener one wouldn't be able to interpret the majesty of this peice. You've got tallent but go just a little bit slower next time.
camaseutra your a snob. its becuase of comments like that and people like you that most people are turned off by classical music. thanks for killing classical music for "common people" !

the very definition of free interpretaion. i kinda like it, but you've got to have a little discipline here and there. i see that you have promised a slower version :), as long as its in tempo. and make sure to consider your tone. mad music can still be beautiful. keep up the good work.
Good, job, dont listen to talk shits some people have said, it's not perfect, for sure, but the pace is not the problem I've also heard about that interpretation long time before... Ans he's not in the wrong way, but he dont give the right emotions, and it's sad, but he's young, he has a good technique, and for sure, he is talented... Give time to the time...
william kemph doesnt have to look like a maniac to play beautifully...all his emotions are expressed through the piano...this guy has awsome agility with his fingers but now he needs to put feeling into it and not just play it he's running the 50 yard dash
i am myself working on this piece, i'm still early in this so i haven't even learned the last 6 pages yet, let alone get it up to that speed. I think you did great. Although the notes sounded jumbled from the high speeds.

the very definition of free interpretaion. i kinda like it, but you've got to have a little discipline here and there. i see that you have promised a slower version :), as long as its in tempo. and make sure to consider your tone. mad music can still be beautiful. keep up the good work.

Give time to the time...

it isn't the tempo, it's that evil pedal. :( It sounds muddy. =/

Poor Beethoven, how could he RIP with such an interpretation...
Wouk1805 3 years ago
After hearing Kempff's version this really didn't make any sense. He plays like he's pist off at the song.

great technique, but musically/emotionally poor.

i think you'll never play it ok until you get the idea and intention of the song..
if you hear it and love it.. i'm sure you will do it perfect cause your technique is just beautiful

Excellent for your age, but on a whole it needs a lot of work.
You have time though. Don't rush it : )

Indeed, I think hes rushing things up, has the technique! but not quite the feeling this melody needs to transmit.

I don't know why, but I don't like how he plays it. (I'm working on the 2nd movement so I can step up to the 3rd :P)

I don't like the piano at all. Playing wasn't too bad. He can certainly do better than me!

I like him better than W. Kemph. Kemph looks at a distance and motionless, like he's about to pass out....lol....

wtf?! youre crazy! this kid still needs practice...hes good, but not Kemph :)

william kemph doesnt have to look like a maniac to play beautifully...all his emotions are expressed through the piano...this guy has awsome agility with his fingers but now he needs to put feeling into it and not just play it he's running the 50 yard dash
Latinpapi574 3 years ago
i am myself working on this piece, i'm still early in this so i haven't even learned the last 6 pages yet, let alone get it up to that speed. I think you did great. Although the notes sounded jumbled from the high speeds.

despite what most of these people say = / i think it sounds good .. keep up the good work ^_^
