the chalk is actually a myth it never happen in any crime investigation because it could destroy the scene, evidence etc. . Just except for in the movies

@KarlNuevo16 It's not a myth, it's a ceased way of investigation due to contamination and damages to scene. They actually do it back in the days. Just not anymore, none at all. So you are right on that part.

For US, in fact, it's still being done due to 2 reasons: 1.Local police departments uninformed of potential contamination and damages to scene and seldom run into death cases. 2. when victim is still alive and have to be moved before photos and other things to be done for locating his position at scene. And yes, across the States.
