As pirates fan since 1970--i think this trade finally killed my hopes that things would ever get better...simply put: If you trade the best player on the team EVERY year (after 17 consecutive losing seasons) no fans are going to be left watching the games anymore. RIP Pirates. It was fun, at some point.

Missing McClouth is not going to be the reason we add on another losing season. But trading him may be the reason we contend in 2011.

I agree it was a good deal we arent going to win with the guys we have. now we need to trade doumit cause of the rookie catchers we got and we have the 4th pick in the draft. Our farm system will look pretty strong and in a couple of years we could be seeing a world series come to pittsburgh

I think we should hold off on trading Doumit. The tandem of Diaz and Jaramillo has been better than I've expected, but they're still mostly meh.
I wouldn't complain too much if they got a good haul from Doumit, but there's really no depth at catcher in the minors.
