My house made it through both, not scary for us cuz it would take a lot of embers to get to us, dirt for hundreds of yards, but damn, seeing 50 foot flames quarter mile away holy shit
@wendygirl123 Im so sorry to hear that. My husband was born n raised in Pamo Valley in Ramona. His house was the last house on Pamo Rd. Less than a year ago they evicted his mother from their old home. That house was one of the VERY few houses that survived the horrifying fires. My heart goes out to all the families who lost their homes.
Years ago (1959) I lived in a very large house in Ramona on Highland Valley Road. A very long dirt road brought you to the house from the road. I wonder if that house is still there?
To be honest, I was only 4 years old and I do not have an address of the premises. All I remember is that it had a long dirt drive to get to the house (being only 4, maybe it wasn't even a real long dirt road...LOL)! Anyway, there was a water tower not too far from the house. It was a two-story house and a little creepy. There was a pasture next door with cows on it. I realize that what I am describing can be compared to a needle ina haystack. Thanks anyway for your response (BIG smiles)!
this happened 4 years ago during the same time [end of october] we had to get evacuated along with my whole family...we all went to my grandmas house in mira mesa and it was SUPER crowded our house didnt get burnt down but my aunt's house did and they have 4 boys...a dog and a cat and now they can only afford a really small condo and i went to the old house and EVERYTHING was gone except for a chair...my aunt was crying...it was really sad :(
my family got evacuated and we wouldve had to put my dog down because he was getting aggresive from being in a car for so many days but thank the lord they let us back to our house so we didnt have to
If you lived in the area and were evacuated, or had family evacuated as I did, "dreadlock news" you would appreciate this was the first video and info I could get! Thank you!
We got word that my boyfriends family evacuated from Ramona and that it was on fire, "dreadlock news" was the only video that we could find right away. Even though you are not ordinary journalists, thanks for getting the story...and please wash your hair.
I live in San pasqual, whare the Witch creek fire came, and the wild animal park fire merged. I am so lucky my home was not burned down. I know others that were not so lucky.
This is absolutely terrifying. I'm stuck up in San Bernardino, and we were told to evacuate. I was going to go back home to San Diego, but my family down there got evacuated, too. They live right at the intersection of the 78 and the 15. I REALLY hope this thing gets under control.
Thanks for all the amazing footage, and stay safe!

HAHAHAHAHAHA all those millions making hollywooders will have to work their motherfucking rich asses off to build new homes which they wont even mind to make flop movies
I live in San Pasqual and, my home was almost burned down. My friends, have had their homes burned down and you want to laugh. Yeah maybe some more wealthy people got their home burnt down, but now they have nothing. You are inconciderate, the fires did more than burn rich peoples homes, but everyones.
you are full of shit,You didn't know what it was like to stand there and know that to survive you had to fight it off.Don't make comments that are disrespectful to these great people of RAMONA.If you got a problem with that look up Ramona and walk in there and say you made fun of us and I can promise you that you won't be able to walk away.
i live in San Diego... theres ash everywhere! and theres a new fire near Mountain Hawk Park on the route to Mexico. it looks like lava! and i ALMOST got on the news :P
thanks... it would be nice if you could go back after the fire and get video of everything. please start at mt. woodson and go in. i live on highland valley off traylor get more video please!
Perfect reporting, grew up on mussey grade and lived off bellemore drive in the estates until we moved to Michigan. Could not find out any info. except brief clips on National News. Please stay safe and thanks again.
....i live in carmel valley, i am utterly fucked, my old house in rancho bernardo burned down, im probably going to have to evacuate. I am really quite scared.
OMG, dude. I hope you're still doing ok! I just heard about the fire this morning when I read the newspaper and wondered if it was affecting you and your area at all, and I just came on to YouTube and saw this! Good job with the video...and please be safe.
Good job dude. I heard about the fire 8 hours after you posted this, and now it's been 18 hours since that. Ramona has already been evacuated, and Rancho Bernardo and Poway are on their way after two fires merged and more cropped up. Be well and be safe, people! tinyurl dot com / 2or4m2

I lost everything I owned in that fire. I did stay in Ramona that night and we did save a couple of houses , unfortunately mine wasn't one of them.

It's hard to believe that this video was filmed exactly one year ago today. That undoubtedly was one of the most frightening times of my life.
