I was directed into this video by another in which a freight train stopped on and was blocking the only crossing in town for 25 minutes. THAT'S a legitimate complaint, not a 45ish second wait for a commuter train to pass. If you want to get rid of these crossings then propose alternatives (bridges, tunnels, etc) but until then the minute or so stopped generally is worth the thousands of lives it saves. Plan a few extra minutes into your schedule and it won't be an issue.
