@kyuubiyura to be fair, DBZ was one of the old animes meaning the 80's, along with Gundam, Fist of the North Star and subsequently Yu Yu Hakusho shortly after. But out of all of them, DBZ is the most prominent anime in of its time. Naruto had almost 2 decades to start so of course the story is better. But beyond that, its still a classic battle of good and evil and yes, Naruto is all about that.

Just like yu-yu-hakushow, outlaw star, tenshi muyo, they all set standards for the future of anime. I like Naruto ALOT but DBZ will always have a place in my heart. Ask Masashi Kishimoto, he'll admit to loving Dragonball too! There's no reason to argue! Ever noticed that Naruto wears orange and is a knucklehead (like goku) and the same applies to Sasuke's resemblance to Vegeta.

@anemite2 want power,thats it,nothing to them at all.in naruto,can you say that nagato was evil,or not? its not that simple.and they use sharingan, rinnegan, rasengen, yes, whats your point?they also use lots and lots of other techniques,which is more than dbz ever had.in dbz every fight is the same,they moan,they power up an hour,they do some fast blurry movements,repeat. and naruto isnt just about bad guys vs good guys,the first 60 eps it wasnt.

@kyuubiyura to be fair, DBZ was one of the old animes meaning the 80's, along with Gundam, Fist of the North Star and subsequently Yu Yu Hakusho shortly after. But out of all of them, DBZ is the most prominent anime in of its time. Naruto had almost 2 decades to start so of course the story is better. But beyond that, its still a classic battle of good and evil and yes, Naruto is all about that.

@facebeeotch naruto can exist without bad guys.there is a world of ninjas with its own laws and customs,politics,history.in dbz there is nothing outside of fighting bad guys. dbz may be have been prominent at its time, but that doesnt really change anything. bieber is prominent,so? i dont see what conditions were preventing to put any sort of thought behind righting dbz, even with their primitive storyline they have screwups every 10-20 eps.

Every anime known, there's always a bad guy, to create a anime where there's no conflict at all is just a scrap of trash. There'll be no depth to characters and the story would be just a dull "happy ending" throughout. You are giving me irrelevant details about Naruto that doest help you. @facebeeotch um,no? i still stand by what i said.naruto can exist without bad guys,because its an entire different world of ninjas with its own laws. the chunin exam,or w.e. rank it was, didnt have bad guys, just some rivals during the tests, evil wasnt the main focus there.it wasnt for the first 60 eps. i bring shame to the naruto fanbase for thinking naruto can work without bad guys?oh wow i feel so ashamed. and dbz sucks anyway,regardless if naruto does or doesn't

The chuunin exams had a bad guy, namely GAARA >.> Gaara became a supporting character after he fought against Naruto immediately after the chuunin exam arc. Again, think about what you say. OH and idk, maybe Orochimaru was prowling about for Sasuke? you remember the whole cursed mark deal and him being a fallen sennin and OH he killed the 3rd Hokage so your rebuttal is half-assed. And Zabuza for one? Maybe Mizuki?

@kyuubiyura Gaara was a bad character, he crushed Lee, almost killed Sasuke, killed his mother's brother and was set on vengence until Naruto came along. And understand what the meaning of what I said. Naruto would NEVER be where it is today if Naruto was all about rivals (that can only last so long) and no bad guys.

@kyuubiyura Have you not read my other comments? I already acknowledged that it can exist without "conflict" but Naruto just wouldn't be as popular if there's no evil to overcome. The first episode of Naruto had the Kyuubi in it, how can you say that its not Evil in the first 60 episodes when it wrecked havoc upon the Hiiden Leaf Village? How can you say that when Naruto, like Gaara, was to be killed by bad guy-esque characters? And it is black and white in Naruto as well.

@facebeeotch the first episode didnt have the kyuubi,it was just mentioned how it once attacked the village. like i said,a hundred times,in the first 67 episodes evil was not the main focus.there were some bad guys along the way,but defeating evil wasnt their goal. and no it is not black and white in naruto, can you say nagato,gaara,kimmimaro,zabuza,haku,etc.,are evil?no you can't,they all have their own beliefs,reasons and stories. it is not black and white,unlike in dbz.

And what better way to improve a character than through arduous battles both in mind and body from enemies and rivals alike. And no, you dont bring shame for thinking Naruto can work without bad guys, you bring shame thinking that Naruto will still be a great a manga/anime it is today with the way you bring about.

@kyuubiyura I'm sorry man but DBZ started airing in 1989 and the manga was started in the early 80's. Just like yu-yu-hakushow, outlaw star, tenshi muyo, they all set standards for the future of anime. I like Naruto ALOT but DBZ will always have a place in my heart. Ask Masashi Kishimoto, he'll admit to loving Dragonball too! There's no reason to argue! Ever noticed that Naruto wears orange and is a knucklehead (like goku) and the same applies to Sasuke's resemblance to Vegeta.
