If we are talking about the same 2005 bill that I think we are, the Republicans killed that bill by not letting it out of committee. Had they really wanted to pass regulation, why didn't they put it up for an up or down vote?

There were various attempts as I recall, the one you may be describing didn't get a vote because they knew Dems were unanimously against it and the reverse for Reps...so it would've failed anyway.
However its self-evident which side of the fence each party was on. As stated, McCain and Greenspan also warned of the dire consequences but were ignored. Many of these Democratic senators were also being given funding and kickbacks from these same companies-so its no wonder they opposed regulation.

BBC? In what part of the US are they located. Are you aware of their political hopes for the US? How many of the 22 helped US after Catrina or Ike? I think YOU should get a grip on reality and see who in the world wants us weak and why.This is a dangerous game and the stakes are high. We cannot afford to flinch. Fox news is OK but full of people who are as hateful as you are and I can't enjoy a lot of that. Reasonable people see common ground,the folks at fox are as myopic as you are.

well you should be talking either cause if u have any experience they you'd know that we have enemies cause we turned them into our enemies. if we didnt sell arms to both iran &iraq when they were fighting each other, put in a puppet president in iran so we can take their oil, if we didnt install countless dictators with coups in latin america just so the democractically elected president can't do land reform so the u.s corperate farm companies can keep the land they took from the native people.
