This was my very first video game that I got, I learned alot of neat tricks, and strategies to win. I love this game alot!!!

I usually destroy the first three transport copters, just to ease the tension on my base. just incase you didn't notice the first transport carrying the acid-gas vets has one of the light tanks in it so I advise you take down as many transports as possible to prevent enemy reinforcements

This is indeed my most favorite mission, It's because there is a lot of fast-paced action throughout the whole thing. I especially love the fact that you're defending wave after wave with the MGs and you are really good at this game by the way.

There are two ridges on either side of the beach! You should send your artillery units to perch up there so that they can land a heavy hit anywhere on that beach!

If you use the fort strategy, they might get shot at by the Rocket buggers.

Of course, Artillery placement is moot anyway in the last phase, because you can cheap that out with the AA Vehicle on manual to shoot down the air units before they can get anywhere.

I LOVE THIS GAME. I find that the best unit in it are the anti-air vets because they do a set amount of damage to everything, you can kill pretty quickly if you fire, then roll, then fire, then roll, around a enemy, it works for everything, even battlestations.

@Sparkhandler AA Vets are broken in this game and have been nerfed big time in BW2.

Surprisingly, the Gunship can solo Black Gold. I am not joking. A video I made shows that much. Just search for "Black Gold" and Gunship to find it.

i think they did actually, it was called Famicon Wars but was only released in Japan for the SNES

nice, but to be honest your playing it like an FPS, its more strategy than just you soldiers to beat down your enemy

That's all you do in this level, if I remember correctly. Not much else to do but fortify and repel the enemy forces. It worked, so I'm not complaining!

@WhiteKhakis It's actually possible to have Grunts put in the bunkers and still lose no units. In fact, you can even waste the last group of enemies by clustering your stuff around the NE bunker while shooting down all of the air units starting with the ones approaching on the west.

what i do is i send all my infantry to the base except the 4 grunts the fortify the bunkers and i place my artilery behind the sandbags in front of the base and recon guarding the entrance to the base then i kill the 1st and 2nd t copters with an assault vet down on the waters edge then i just kill any infantry units that get close the base entrance...THAT WAS LONG!

Damn, i suck at this game. I lost all my infantry except the three in the bunkers to the poison gas.

Never thought of just fortifying the base like that.

You know, a good strategy I always use for when the waves come is to station both of my artillery right in front of the entrance to the base, that way nobody can get through the front door of the base and the artillery have a clear shot at any tanks coming through.

Then I put my heavy recon blocking the side door so the infantry can't flow into the base as quickly. Then its just me and the mg nests in the open taking on the waves. It works great, believe me.

Yeah, it's kind of a fun strategy, but in the end it comes down to preference seeing as how both our strategies end in an S rank :)

Okay. As it turns out, perfect Technique here requires avoiding any unit losses AT ALL. I know because when I cleared the mission with 3 Grunts lost, I got 95%. Based on my math considering your score aswell, I can be sure losing 1 Grunt still falls short of 100%.

Next, you know how Acid Gas vets sneak into your base from the Western door, killing a few of your guys? I find that the Western Door is the perfect place to put your otherwise useless Recon. It'll block them from coming in and snipe them for you, saving your lives.

Finally, don't position your men near the front door of your base. If they're running out the front door you're putting them in danger. Put them near the back. Let them snipe enemies while they're working on the flag, and busy!

You did well not to put your men in the Gun Nests, or put your Artillery in the field, but there's still more you could do to perfect your strategy:

The proper position for the two Artilleries are under those two hangars in the back of your base. They are protected from all air attacks and can lob their shots over your wall or right into troops coming in your front door.

i do this way differently lol i just take control of one assault vet then go into the field and start blasting em. then, when u get the break, i send my 2 artillery and 1 assault vet to accompany it cause of some rocket vets getting nosy on the sidelines. I did this with 97% :)

My anti-air always got destroyed when there only one bomber left, but when i tried this it never took any damage thanks alot.
