@garyouze2ORAG Oh it looks later than that. THE ROBERT MACNEIL REPORT didn't begin it's debut on tv until 1974-75. I think this segment is from the early 80s.
This segment is a classic with Robert MacNeil talking to Cookie Monster and Kermit. I recall another news clip with MacNeil, but I'm not 100% sure if there were other segments with him reporting.
@ShadowChanceSassy You're not imagining it! There was a whole "whodunit" episode in which balloons dropped from the sky during the first live-action segment, and Big Bird tried to identify the perpetrator. Eventually the media took notice, in the person of McNeil (Big Bird pronounced it "MacNell"), who was even a suspect at one point.
Sesame Street still turns out decent stuff these days - "Meal or No Meal" (Cookie Monster features in this too) was excellent, as was Feist's appearance.
But it's not always comparable to seriously brilliant clips from earlier in the show's history, like this one.
This old school "Cookiegate" video is wonderful! I miss Kermit and the other Muppets having equal time on the show. I hope Elmo gets his own show on cable soon...
I really liked how celebs from other fields contributed to Sesame Street's body of knowledge. Sunny day...
As a prelaw student, I'd like to know where Kermit the Frog went to school. He seems to know what he's doing. Maybe I'll be able to defend Cookie Monster and his friends some day ;-)
This is a delicate case. Why don't the right-wing lobbyists like YOU realize that Cookie Monster's actions were somewhat justified by his condition, having frequent inadvertent cravings inducing a psychological insatiable lust for cookies, furthermore losing self-control and better judgment. This must be taken into consideration before condemning his behavior.
And to think that in later airings of the Sesame Street Special, they replaced this with the H. Ross Parrot clip. That one isn't bad on its own, but alongside this one, there's no comparison.

"I don't have any cookies, but I do have some questions."
Somehow that's just so lolworthy. What I would say in response is something along these lines:
"Oh, boy, questions! They're even better than cookies! What flavor?"

I can't believe I've never seen this one! This is great or so many reasons, not the least of which is that Robert MacNeil agreed to such a fun sketch

I like how Cookie Monster called Robert Mr. McLehrer LOL!
Are Frank and Jim doing the voices or is it David Rudman and Steve Whitmire?

@JGCooney The sketch is from 1988, so it's Frank Oz and Jim Henson

Typical left-wing lamestreet media. Where is the balance? What about Susan and Gordon's perspective? This is an outrage.

Remember kids, you can get away with anything as long as you have a good lawyer.

Also, they should put the year the clips are from in the description. I know this one is old school, but it's still nice to know the year it is from.
