  • So is this from 1973is?

  • @garyouze2ORAG Oh it looks later than that. THE ROBERT MACNEIL REPORT didn't begin it's debut on tv until 1974-75. I think this segment is from the early 80s.

  • im glad that i have theas folders

  • "MacNeil."

    "Whatever."

    LOL.

  • Forget the shredder, just eat the evidence!

  • How Robert McNeil did this without cracking up is beyond me

  • "I don't have any cookies, but I do have some questions."

Somehow that's just so lolworthy. What I would say in response is something along these lines:

"Oh, boy, questions! They're even better than cookies! What flavor?"

  • Me proud of the way me carry out those orders... LOL!

  • This is classic.

  • ME EAT NOTE

  • @ryanhawkrider

    "You ate it?"

This segment is a classic with Robert MacNeil talking to Cookie Monster and Kermit. I recall another news clip with MacNeil, but I'm not 100% sure if there were other segments with him reporting.

  • @ShadowChanceSassy You're not imagining it! There was a whole "whodunit" episode in which balloons dropped from the sky during the first live-action segment, and Big Bird tried to identify the perpetrator. Eventually the media took notice, in the person of McNeil (Big Bird pronounced it "MacNell"), who was even a suspect at one point.

  • lol @ me eat note

  • Me promise to eat the cookie, the whole cookie, and nothing but the cookie, cross me heart. WHERE COOKIE? :)

  • TRUST IN JESUS TO SAVE YOU! CALL ON THE LORD JESUS NOW!

  • @JesusPaid4You

Cookie Monster is the Devil (rolls eyes, palm slap)

  • McNeil looks like he's going to crack up at the end :P

  • My client is almost out of patients

    And cookies

    lol brilliant

  • "Me glad you ask that question, Mr. McLehrer"

    "MacNiel"

    "Whatever."

  • Kermit is definetely a frog of many careers.

  • lol what happened to this kind of humor on sesame street

  • I can't believe I've never seen this one! This is great or so many reasons, not the least of which is that Robert MacNeil agreed to such a fun sketch

  • Me promise, to eat the cookie,

    eat the whole cookie,

    and nothing but the cookie.

    Cross me heart.

    so cute xD

  • I like how Cookie Monster called Robert Mr. McLehrer LOL!

Are Frank and Jim doing the voices or is it David Rudman and Steve Whitmire?

  • @JGCooney The sketch is from 1988, so it's Frank Oz and Jim Henson

  • I wonder where Kermit went to Law School?

  • "You're fuzzy, period" xD hahahahahahahaha!

  • LOL "Mr. MacLehrer"!

Sesame Street still turns out decent stuff these days - "Meal or No Meal" (Cookie Monster features in this too) was excellent, as was Feist's appearance.

But it's not always comparable to seriously brilliant clips from earlier in the show's history, like this one.

  • This old school "Cookiegate" video is wonderful! I miss Kermit and the other Muppets having equal time on the show. I hope Elmo gets his own show on cable soon...

I really liked how celebs from other fields contributed to Sesame Street's body of knowledge. Sunny day...

  • Thumbs up for "Cookiegate".

  • Kermit is so well-rounded in his skillset even as a lawyer

  • As a prelaw student, I'd like to know where Kermit the Frog went to school. He seems to know what he's doing. Maybe I'll be able to defend Cookie Monster and his friends some day ;-)

  • He's Pretty serious in case he is being on sesame street and he is talking about "stolen cookies"

  • Me promise to eat the cookie, the whole cookie and nothing but the cookie. Cross me heart.

  • he knows big words

  • Bwahahaha. "....Mr. MacLehrer." "MacNeill." "Whatever." ROFL!

  • yeh yeh yeh yeh, YEH YEH YEH YEH

  • Wrongfully accused? Telephone music gone wrong? Giant letter U nearly crushed your band? Don't hesitate to call Kermit The Frog Attorney At Law. Call

    1-800-LAW-FROG.

  • Typical left-wing lamestreet media. Where is the balance? What about Susan and Gordon's perspective? This is an outrage.

  • This is a delicate case. Why don't the right-wing lobbyists like YOU realize that Cookie Monster's actions were somewhat justified by his condition, having frequent inadvertent cravings inducing a psychological insatiable lust for cookies, furthermore losing self-control and better judgment. This must be taken into consideration before condemning his behavior.

  • Remember kids, you can get away with anything as long as you have a good lawyer.

  • Also, they should put the year the clips are from in the description. I know this one is old school, but it's still nice to know the year it is from.

  • I miss Kermit the Frog on Sesame Street. And I miss Jim Henson performing as Kermit.

  • Me loooves Cookie!!

  • Cute ^_^ CookieGate

  • EAT begin with an E,

and TAKE begin with a T

  • Is his left eye a lazy eye?

  • Comment removed

  • @RandomTalkingMonster just the effect of cookies... after all, cookie monster is a junkie

  • me eat note!

  • Me like cookie monster =D

You can't tell me this is just for kids ^^

  • <3 Dis! :D!

  • That what's wrong with media today!

All they have is questions! They never have cookies!

This line is so true and epic at the same time!

  • I remember this! this was EPIC

They is why Cookie monster went "healthy" he lost Kermit as his lawer :(

  • great satire/parody ST is genius

  • i use to eat cookies when i saw this part XD

  • coookies!

  • Kermit is Cookie's lawyer. XD!

  • 3:05 "McNeil - Whatever" i think that made him laugh too lol

  • This is one of my favorite parts of the Put Down the Duckie special.

  • And to think that in later airings of the Sesame Street Special, they replaced this with the H. Ross Parrot clip. That one isn't bad on its own, but alongside this one, there's no comparison.
