  • Can you not see the video? Viper had no problem keeping up and the Solstice straight dominated the Rx-7 and also kept with the 350z. Maybe you should learn more about the people INSIDE the cars instead of the cars.

  • true its not always the car but the person driving the car... thats why i made that comment... the best drifters can drift whtever.. in general a drifter chooses a car that amplifies his tendencies... which is why i love the AE86 and the Fairlady Zs... its easy for me to flow in those cars... others i have to work with or feel out of place...

  • @DJcrzynss i disagree , americans are becoming better and better , i think in a few years they will be just as good , dont forget that the top drivers of japan have more experience , most americans have been doing this for a couple of years , not to mention that japan has more experience with setups , it s only a matter of time will americans will be on the same level , same goes for europe where i am , allthough it goes much slower here then america !

  • True about americans... but not american cars... and yes of course they [the drivers] will get better, but im not so sure on the cars... they are gettin more bulky and boxy and slower... whereas foreign cars are gettin smaller and faster and more proficient... also keep in mind front wheel drifting is done in saudi arabia and theyve been doing that for years n years... imagine if they switched over to rear wheel drive cars lol

  • the american "dream" cars are just getting watered down to take advantage of the average american... or has a couple of goodies but is overpriced and still doesnt compete with other import cars... specially the mustangs and camaros/chargers.... its like american doesnt want to let go of the past... and change them for the better... not for the nostalgia... ya know?? plus every car in the world is starting to look the same as all the others... thats my only pet peeve...

  • @DJcrzynss not every american brand is like dodge or ford !?, if your talking about heavier cars , america is no exception in this , people want more and more luxury , not to mention all the safety features that are quite heavy , you can say all you want but american cars are exactly evolving into cars that europe and asia buids !

  • The american cars pack sooo much technology into their cars... and they still dont have that good of power or gas efficiency and cost 5 to 10 thousand more than the asian equal.... or its trimmed down to nothing to compete in price... asian cars have about the same technology as the higher priced cars at the sale price of those without it... and more power to boot and better gas efficiency... Its the industry over pricing the cars and not making them as efficient enough

  • Hell if the mustang or camaros or even G6's, Solstice, [ just to name a few of many cars] had more power with more luxury and cost less and had better gas efficiency then maybe it wouldnt be so hard to buy an american car... but im not spending 22-27 thousand for something that cant out-do something that cost 15-19 thousand and has more power and luxury...

  • @DJcrzynss ehm , american cars have way more power compared to european and asian cars ? and they are about the same on luxury , it s because they run those big blocks that the car takes so much oil , you shouldnt blame the industry for that , you should blame dodge and ford , all the others are doing the complete opposite , and ford and dodge are changing so i really dont see why you keep refering to mustangs and camaros , we allready know those models are oilcoholics !

  • @DJcrzynss i like our european cars , and all cars in my country are expensive , it costs around 2500/3000 dollars to get your lincense , the more performance the worse the tax and insurence gets , you cant get a fast car insured when your a rather new driver , and importing is a nightmare , the check ups are very expensive two , every changed part needs a inspection , but that doesnt matter to me because i like local brands better , anyway , this is rather pointless , later !

  • Explain to me if the Japs are so efficient why are their engines receiving 2 miles yes 2 miles more in fuel efficiency than a big engine TWICE the size. Im curious as to what you are comparing your cars to a 60's camaro to a honda civic??

  • idk where you are getting your facts from but cleary its wrong... Civics and corollas get the best mpgs out there period... any american car that can compete... is once again overpriced... and under produced... civics hondas ect have a lot of shit with their basic models... where as the american models are damn near stripped of everything if they come anywhere close to the same price... otherwise its got the same gadgets and is a good 7 to 10 thou more.... and still cheaply built

  • I don't understand your logic. Mustang is cheaper than any affordable Import you can name. Don't you dare compare a price from new to used either. GSR STARTS at 34,000 Camaro SS starts at 31,000. 370z starts at 30,000. Dodge Challenger R/T also starts at 31,000. S2000 had a starting price of 34,000. The Subaru starts at 24,000, but doesn't even compare to any of its import counter parts unless its the Sti.

  • Mustangs are 27000 and up... and any good model is 32000 and up... the new ones are even higher... where as you can get a genesis for 23-27, the STIs cant count unless you factor in the money it costs to tune it and dissingage the front wheels from the awd... the Evos though the good models run 32 and up... and need the same conversion as the STIs are the best bang for your buck... where as once again the american cars are just gettin watered down... older mustangs can still kick some ass though

  • and by older mustangs i mean older muscle cars in general... i do have respect for the older models power... because that was "the way" back then.. its like a tight end in football... back in the day bigger n badder and didnt have to worry about catching was best.. now a days those bigger n badder TEs gotta catch just as well as receivers to keep their job... these big bad ass muscle cars need to get more agile and find a way to get better at racing curves and not just straight lines

  • Only fools like you talk about corners. If you knew anything that's the corner they skip. Take those same cars and instead of adding more power and add suspension upgrades you get a totally different car. You are talking about agile and quicker, but MOSTLY all the old Muscle cars are slower than the ones available today. Actually, they can't even beat the 2002 model counterparts. You keep talking but you aren't searching are you? You've just sold yourself to them without thinking

  • you dont know shit about racing if you dont take CORNERS seriously... and yes older cars didnt handle for shit... and todays muscle cars are heavy as fuck... yeah they can corner... but no where near the performance of an import. & you are right about suspensions & i never said any thing negative about the concepts behind a properly tuned suspension. thats what its ALL about when it comes to drifting. but name one american contender when it comes to driftin against jap cars that could keep up?

  • do you even watch drifting? If you did you wouldn't ask such a dumb question. Drifting has nothing to do with cornering. Just a simple loss of traction and maintaining a direction. Who doesn't take a corner seriously? I was talking about the aspect of what they don't focus on when produced.

  • Cornering ability plays absolutely no role in drifting if you knew any better. If you are going to argue with me at least talk about actual racing. You know the racing they do at the ring.

  • It means you are a better driver man. I have no problem with jap/domestic cars , but the argument that one can't do the other is old. BOTH can do drifting,dragging, racing. Each developer took different routes to reach different results. As someone who mods a car it's their responsibility to get those preferred results. i just don't like people saying one sucks because both sides are good.

  • ok what you said right here right now is how i think and feel... you are right... i do however have a great hate towards american cars because ive had shit luck with them and tired of the "you need more power" attitudes and friends/family around me have also had shit luck... but have never had any probs out of jap cars... and yes its all up to the person modifying the car for what they want... which is why i want to take a sub par 09 eclipse... and turn it into a drift machine lol =]

  • watch it?? i DO IT... a small track in oki japan and parking lots here wehre i live... sadly no nopi events near me for a while =[ but yes there is cornering... or its refered to... you have clip points... and you have a "race line" and its not a simple loss of traction... thats how 16 year olds end up with mummy n diddys car in a ditch... and most people end up fishtailing not drifting... you have to hold speed and try to get as side ways as possible... its still considered cornering...

  • The Mustang GT is 27,000 up. Anything else after that are is either a gt500 or are done by aftermarket companies. You obviously don't know much. hey guess what sure the genesis is faster than the V6 mustang, but it cost more. If you buy the R-spec that is. The V6 camaro gets better fuel economy than the genesis but the genesis is only faster than .1 second.

  • & with being cheaper it cut corners. its not the same bad ass muscle car i used to hate cuz it WAS a beast... its a car i hate cuz its cheaply built. & its hard not to compare new to used prices cuz people dont wanna lose the money they put into the car & want damn near MSRP prices when their car wasnt even worth that much to begin with. every car [regardless of origin] sold in the US is OVERPRICED. all YOU have to do is talk it down. its just commission goin into the salesmans pockets...

  • Second, ALL Sport cars are overpriced, Thats their goal as a Salesmen. let me see you go to a nissan dealership and buy a 370z for 30,000. Also, evo starts at 33,000 let me see you pay that much for it. You talk about cutting corners, but ford has done a damn good job. Each muscle car is pulling skid ratings that are pretty decent except the chally. The only car you can say is overpriced is the challenger. Actually, dodge in general. The prices of each dealer goes right along with asians

  • well actually i could get any car here in the states cheaper than msrp lol thanx to military benifits and promotions... we are talkin 3-7 thou off the sticker price =] but for an average american its all about how you talk the salesmen down... and my beef with the mustang is why they water down the model... and yet the price goes up... the last 2 years yes its been getting better... but bigger and bigger sticker price as well

  • I receive discounts only for American Cars, but I receive Discounts on just about every Electronical device. Also, Japs cars have risen considerably. Look at the 350z in 2005. The car used to cost 26,000 and now its 29,000. I imagine it will only go up again on next years model.
