I do not know all of Mr. Warren's beliefs but what he said at the prayer was simply using Jesus Christ's name in other languages. He was not necessarily saying the Jesus from Qua'ran but so other people in other languages could relate to the significance in Mr. Warrens life. Jesus will save you. Call him into your heart. Amen

All I know of Warren is that I couldn't read his "Purpose-filled" book (I tried, but I gave it away.) I was convinced of his error by hearing him on CNN using Jesus' Words "I came not to bring peace but a sword," to justify support of the war.

The handful of former Muslims I had the privilege to know, who are now genuine followers of Christ, continue to use Isa to refer to Christ. Their understanding of who He is, of course, has dramatically changed, and they affirm with conviction that He is God and the Son of God.

In my interactions with Muslims there, I did use Isa to refer to Christ. With many of my friends, I would have received a blank look had I attempted to use the name Jesus or any other alternative to Isa.

I certainly do not support Rick Warren. I read and appreciated the excellent book, Deceived on Purpose by Warren Smith, exposing Rick Warrens New Age leanings. Having said this, though, I hesitate to assail him for his use of the name Isa in his prayer.

I lived in Malaysia, a Muslim country, for six years, and Isa is the one and only word in the Malay language used to refer to Jesus. This word was borrowed from Arabic centuries ago, and has long been a mainstay in the Malay language.

Please address the fact that more than 10 million Indonesian believers (and people of other ethnicities) refer to their Savior as "Isa," fully believing that He is the Son of God. Of this number, those who are former Muslims of course did not believe this before. Now they know the truth about who He is.

So what should they do? Invent a new term? I really wish you could visit the Malay-speaking churches in Malaysia and Indonesia.

But now that I know it's "new age" stuff, I will definitely let others know. I don't go for "new age" garbage.
