Does this kind of guitar have a specific name of it is only a fully customized guitar? I'm thinking of buying one. The sound of the bass complete this kind piece perfectly. Your playing is great, between. I really enjoyed listening this video. =)
Amazing rendition! One of the best renditions of this piece I have ever heard. After listening for 3 seconds I knew I would enjoy the rest of this piece.
Very nice. How much do those altguitars run? After I heard Goran's version, I downloaded the transcription for 6 string guitar.. and well it looks a lot easier on what you're playing. Those low notes really make the piece, too. I might never play baroque music on 6 string again.
if it looks easy to play this king of instrument , in fact it's much more harder for the right hand. i know some altguitarists who give up and return to the 6 strings.
But it is a so wonderfull feeling that some keep on going ...the best way to play it is, i beleive ,to begin it quite young and in the same time as the 6 string.
if one time you comme to france, please contact me to let you experience this ok ?
Beautifull played , with great understanding of that what is not written in the notes , but reveales itself thanks to this outstanding interpretation.
This is one of my all time favorite compositions, and you play it beautifully. I always liked Goran Sollscher's version, but yours is just as good. Very lyrical.
Well done!
BTW, are you aware of this transcription for six string guitar?
Superb and moving rendition! Played with great understanding. I get the idea that the sound of this kind of guitar is quite big. Is that true? Does it project better than the finest 6 stringers.
thanks for your comment. This guitar is not more powerfull than others but i think that it's because the "ambitus " is a little bit larger than the 6 strings guitar.
Hello John! Your interpretation. But I didn´t understand "ambitus" as related to sound. Sorry, I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. By the way, are you from France?
What I want to say is that your interpretations of Weiss are superb; I love how your passion for this music is understated and is juist conveyed through the strings. Anyway, I loved this Weiss and your other videos! (By the way, My Youtube is, all of a sudden in Rench!)
Ah, vous etes francophone ;) .. vous jouez ce morceau tres bien, comme j'ai lu la partition en vous lisant! Ca m'etonne bien que je sais pas du tout cette piece ;) Merci! Je vais l'apprendre aussi maintenant.
Thank you, I'm enjoying this immensely. You have realized the beauty of this piece in all its harmony and perfection... may I also compliment you one the excellent tone you get out of your instrument!
I hope you play this piece for many people and make them aware of Weiss's genius and how such music adds so much wisdom to one's contemplation of this world...
A truly chilling/profound piece of music. If only S.L. Weiss' works were as popular as J.S. Bach's. I find Weiss to be just as good (if not better) a baroque composer as Bach. GREAT PERFORMANCE!! I would kill to have that guitar. Looks like a blast to play.
If one time you try such a guitar you will see that the problem is not barre (even 7 or 8 stringed barre )not the scales either ( from the 6th strings it goes diatonic down !) it's just quite hard to play the right bass with the thumb !!! but praticing is just 200 % pleasure on this type of instrument so ... ( one use to say that it needs 10 years pratice for each string so i must live at least up to 110 years....)
I really love the ciacona in G minor I'm studying a E minor guitar Transcription (by me)from the R. Chiesa book. I also saw a A minor transcription. What do you think about it? What is the the best transcription that capture the real feeling of this piece? Sorry for my bad english
if you go to my web site "johnny-jerome-com " you will find on the same page as this video the music sheet i use in this recording.Concerning this piece one says that it is one part of a duet and the 2 nd part is lost. it 's sound reasonable as the lute part is playing the ground every 8 bars (nearly) the tuning i use is from the basses : Bb-c-d-eb-f-g-c-f-a-d-g-
I am very impressed with the relaxed way of playing. It fits the music. The instrument sounds very nice. I'm wondering how much effort it took the build it yourself.
Really beautiful playing, thank you. You have inspired me to work this piece out to play on my 10-string.
