i love this man because of him at age 13 right now i am playing the soprano saxphone i wish i could be like him in so many ways i will never be though no one in the way i look at will never be able to play like he does i try but i no it will not happen thanks for being my music hero
The first time I ever heard of Boots Randolph was when I was about 13 years old, I'm now 51. I would play along with his record "Spanish Harlem" on my clarinet because I didn't own a saxophone at that time. I now own 2 baritone, 1 tenor & 1 alto sax's. Boots has always been a legendary music role model for me. I try to play with a similar style but will never be able to duplicate his style or talent. God bless his family over the loss of this talented man who now is performing in heaven.
I have the album this song is from and LOVE it. Ol' Boots is what got me into sax. I was always trying to play like him. My middle school band teacher used to call me "Boots Jr." lol. But my college sax instructor doesn't care much for Boots...oh well, lol. I'm in college, he can kiss it, lol.
Hello .. my name is Marcos. I am an Evangelist of Argentina, where we sing anthems as the second one " when there list passes ". It he, wanted that they say to me where I can find anthems as these instrumental or sung. I touch the saxophone. Thank you
you should be ashamed, This man has achieved so much in his life. You could only dream of the things he has done and the places he has played. Learn some respect and music history.
This is a tenor sax. Your post speaks of ignorance. And if you've never done it before, then no you cant. I've been playing sax for almost 9 years, and I could play it, if i had the music. But he is doing it all from memory. You suck.
por cierto, alguien sabe que se ha hecho con el video de Boots, Chet Atkins (guitarra) y un piano (no recuerdo quién) tocando el yakety sax en directo en un programa televisivo?
I felt I had to post because I to enjoy Boots music and have many fond memories of it in my life. I also wanted to offer the following info to lgazzini, and anyone else who might benefit from it. If you enjoyed this song as performed here, it is available on the CD "Journey to the Sky", as well as Boots CD "Songs for the spirit". Boots also recorded "Sunday Sax", also available on CD. He also recorded a rendition of amazing grace for the album. "Homer Louis Randolph III".
I really miss Boots very much. He was the first artist I really went crazy over, especially after hearing "Yakety Sax" on the radio. I was too shy to say very much to him when I met him when I was seven years old. Now I wish I would have talked and arm and leg off of him.
We'll miss you Boots! Thanks for enriching our lives. I've stumbled on a dot com site (HeavensNewStar) that's honoring Boots with profits going to the American Cancer Society. RIP. He'll be missed.
I was a great fan of Boots even before I knew who he was - the reason being reason his distinctive playing on many of the old Rock and roll songs - particularly those of Brenda Lee.

In 1960 maybe 1959 Boots Randolph was playing at a nightclub in Evansville Indiana
It had a small dance floor, I went a couple of times, and felt he would be famous one day
Those were the days. What fun back then
Good Kentuckian man.
