Just put a piece of glass on top of the screen or something. The tablet doesn't register if the pen touches the active area, just where it is over it, while the pen has a pressure sensor sending signals when it's being pressed.
i suggest you get something to put over the screen so you dont break it when u put pressure on it but a genius!!
for those who use tablets and cant stand not being able to see the screen as ur drawing, get a piece of paper and an inking pen (provided by wacom) and do it like that...then u can see what ur doing whithout hving to look at the screen ever 4 seconds :)
i hope to get a cintiq perhaps by the time i get to collage,as for now i can only afford a system around 170sh...that and using a mouse is becoming a strain on my wrist.
ive been thinking of saving up for a Navisis EZ-canvis.
althogh i like the smaller versions of wacom pads i dislike the NO screen viewingX(
could you possibly recimend any other systems that include screen viewing?
Ok, firstly - I'm aware that putting a pen on the screen damages it. Thank you to all those young Einsteins who pointed that out. A gold star for you. As it says in the title, it was an initial TEST - a proof of concept. I had planned to put a clear plastic cover over the screen.
Secondly, it's a Wacom Intuos placed underneath an LCD screen.
A Wacom Intuos has pressure sensitivity.
It works exactly like a Wacom Intuos. Get it?
Thirdly, I'm aware it'd damage the screen in the long-term.
to draw on PS just open up PS and go to file, then click new and choose whatever size you want and click on the brush tool to start drawing. C'mon its common sense ):
I recommend you 2 things one is try different pen. Not grapphire. Intuos 3 and Cintiq grip pan has replacable tips. Second is to put some paint protection film. Venture Shield is the best I know of, installation is simple, baby shampoo, water squeegee and alcohol. This product works wonders and it's also installed on cars and headlights. I have it on everything that has screen even touchscreen as PDA, GPS etc. There are also many things to keep the urethane clean at all tiems. Good Luck
this is grate, not only you'r a computer geek who knows what he's doin, you'r a potential good artist lol!.. keep up the good work, you'll finish it one day
To everyone worried about the screen: The device in this video isn't actually *finished*. This was just an initial test with the bare components to see if the concept works. My plan was to build a wooden enclosure with a clear acrylic sheet over the screen. Never got around to it, though :P I just made this proof-of-concept and then lost interest... I s'pose I'll finish it one day ;)
You can make an awesome face, but...you can't make a decent Smiley?

Not too shabby considering that the price difference between this DIY and a real Cintiq can get you a legal copy of Photoshop.
Hopefully something gets done about those exposed circuits though. It'll be interesting if you find a good solution to tidy up the clutter a bit.

lol thats not a homemade cintiq. its a homemade tablet maybe but cintiq are much different unless your using the intous 3 technology.

Fun to fiddle with and get to work... but completely useless when it comes to the control that a Cintiq would be used for.
Probably should have sold the Intuos and monitor - then you would have been almost halfway to having the 12".
sventimiglia 3 years ago
so u made this if u did cool and also like the last dawing at first it looked crapy but looks like it way easier to use than a wacom

Whats really funny is that its not a home made cintiq. Its not even a cintiq period.
Its actually kind of stupid. But saves yout the trouble of buying one for $999.
Just sucks that theres no pressure sensitivity...

Pretty cool, but you don't get the levels of pressure sensitivity that the Cintiq offers, do you? Is it just on and off?
smcnally75 4 years ago
Nevermind, it appears you have an Intuos behind the screen...I just read the link to the forum you posted in about it. :)

Yeah A protection panel would be nice...The wavy thing it does will break your computer screen. I'm still wondering how you made that.
NarutoUzumaki93 4 years ago
lol, it looks like the screen doesn't like it, looks like when u lightly press on the screen it does that liquid wavy thing, anyways, good luck :)
