  • Seems to me that the speed is too high especially for the shorter guy - he looses balance often, does not have enough time to connect hands and feet... At least I was taught to increase speed only when partner feels comfortable with the current speed - otherwise there will be no inner progress, only some reflexes... And again, his body will remember that loosing balance is ok.

  • @vajra8ru Hi Max. Good comments. I think sometimes loosing your balance is OK e.g. if you are falling into ( or on top of ) someone - that is , perfect balance == very little movement. Best Wishes. Martin

  • Our Yong Chun Pai has drills to similar effect that uses the forearm conditioning along with a sensitivity component (in addition to chi-sau). It would appear that there is too much physical strength exerted between the 2 of you. concentrate on the dan tien and the connection between it, the hips and the elbows. As you have also pointed out, the stance is too high. Your exercise definitely has potential. remember the internal!

  • @LatYCP Hi Ben- thanks for the comments all of which are apt. When you sit the dead weight on the leg structure that is one way to keep the force down - it is much more difficult to do as you go up in stance. That is what we are playing with a bit here. it is , as I am sure you know, because supporting the weight on the muscles, the muscles tend to over compensate and then it is easier for the other person to uproot you. good to play with though.   • Nicely done. I'm a White Crane stylist from Taiwan and what is shown here is the classic way in which conditioning drills are performed in the original crane branches. Yong Chun Bai He is considered the predecessor of younger crane styles such as whooping crane, feeding crane, and vibrating crane.

  • Hi Matin, this exercises reminds me a little bit of Weng Chun Tang's family basic chisao drills. Partially only. Their sequences are repeated 3 times with footwork over and over again in loop. Thanks for sharing this one. Greetings from independent VingDragon - Shaolin Weng Chun style

  • @VingDragon Hi , thanks for the info - The sequence as done in yong chun is the sing arm , arm bashing. We mix that with another exercises here to do the pushing. At the end, that is of course just messing around. If you have a link to the Tangs sequences please post it so I can have a look. Best Wishes, Martin

  • @VingDragon Yes! That is almost exactly as they are doing in Yong Chun. - you can imagine our sequence by removing the grabbing parts. In our arm strike we are also trying to unbalance the opponent - to say the course of the interraction is set by the first impact in terms of momentum and balance. Of course against Fernando it does not quite work like that. Very nice to make that connetion - thank you very much!
