  • It's pretty cool to see non revenue cars on transit systems, thanks for posting this.

  • Did anybody see the guy spitting on the platform?

  • i always wanted to kno is the wires the third rail

  • @TheWindowdog the wire is also 600 volts dc just like the 3rd rail the trains on the green line use the trolly wire to power the trains

  • this wire car was to replace wire car #3283. if you at the trucks of this wire you will see those trucks were from the Blue Line St. Louis Cars. i was working on the Blue Line when a flat bed truck came and pick up the trucks and brought them to the Watertown shops where this wire car was being built. the MBTA was planning to built an other wire just like the Green Line car to replace Blue Line wire car # 3279.

  • tramwaj wieżowy

  • the trolley, passing by, nobody really noticed it being different as if they didnt mind, nor spoke up

  • don't mind me; anything to say, speak up

  • @TheDylanJoyce What do you mean?

  • How did you follow it from North Station to Gov't Center?

  • @TNT314159 Those clips are out of order, I was waiting for a train when I saw it pass through Government center, my train came, and I got off at North station because it was about time for me to turn around and head back to Arlington where I got on, where it passed through again.

  • Nice! What does the wire car do, by the way? (sorry I'm showing off my ignorance :P)

  • @electronicsdrive Thanks, no worries. The wire car is used to inspect and do work on, well, the wires (mostly the catenary). At around 0:57 in the video you can see the workers shining flashlights up at and inspecting the overhead catenary.

  • WOW! Awesome!

  • @Modeltrainguy Thanks!

  • wow. it's cool seeing one of those in action considering that they rarely come out during normal service times.

  • Nice catch!

  • Right place at the right time. Where do they garage it? Anyone know?

  • @zyzlnwh

They store this car in the yard at Resevoir, you can usually see it on an outbound train approaching Resevoir station.

  • nice catch!

  • Great Catch, I've never seen that before.

  • You always get the good stuff, Awesome catch on both sightings

  • Thanks

  • Awesome catch

  • awesome rare catch

  • wow that is rare! Wish I could have seen that. Another rare movement happened last night when Guilford ran NMED through Reading all the way to Boston and then took the Fitchburg Line north due to flooding. There could possibly be another train detouring tonight and then I read something about the Nashua coal train using the west leg of the wye at Lowell Jct. I read this stuff on Railroad . net and its really confusing but anyways some really rare stuff is happening because of flooding.

  • Yeah, I heard about that move. I wish I could see it go through Malden!
