This so-called "White Haitian" is full of shit! After Jean-Jacque Dessalines seized power he ordered a general massacre of the true Haitians - French colonists. Those that could fled to the U.S. The rest were slaughtered in an orgy of robbery, rape and murder...no survivors! An excellent history of this is found in the book "The French Revolution in San Domingo" by Lothrop Stoddard. As in Haiti, Rhodesia and soon South Africa, Negro rebellioin always ends in Negro savagery.
@FrancisGalton this Haitian who is white who is a very well educated on Haitian history is not full of shit there were whites that were allowed to remain in Haiti you need to research the polish who remained after the war they are mentioned in this documentary. also as mr frisch said there were a small number of french that remained and were not slaughtered that were kept for the purpose of rebuilding the country. many white americans were allowed to flee. research more.
@FrancisGalton this man who you claim is full of shit is a white Haitian who draws his roots to some of the french who remained on in the country after the revolt. and he is also descended of Germans who came in the late 19th century and early 20th century there have been and still are migrations of Europeans, middle eastern and asian migrants in Haiti. i suggest you watch the documentary before you make unfounded claims.
@TheUptown305 Haitian has little Taino blood, By the time the French got to the island, Many Native has married Spanish settler or die out, last recorded taino is from 1540, France got there in 1625. The slave must have been aware of the story of the native, but by 1625 there were no native living in the island
that is so true, when you go to haiti, there's always some white haitian person behind a counter in the supermarket. in p-a-p there's the clothing store that sell knock off's of gucci, lv, those people look like arabs but their haitian.
@Beetwate305 yes many small business and major business are owned by European and middle eastern descended Haitians and this shop keeper history is well rooted within the history of their ancestors migrations. many people assume they are people from Europe and the middle east that came to start business but as the documentary shows most of them are born Haitian citizens.
I wonder if these business owners are from the same lineage of those that benefited heavily from the papa doc era. I saw a documentary on here about duvalieur and his wife michele bennett and there was a scene where she (michele) threw a ball at the palace. There was mostly people with european features there. I wonder if michele wasn't only showering herself with gifts, but these people to and it's their children that run these business's today
@Beetwate305please watch the documentary and you will see how many of the people of european and middle eastern Haitian background view duvalier it is not mentioned in this doc but duvalier ran a massacre against all european descended people in the region of jeremie and much of the minority fled under him he made no bones about killing people of black african heritage or people of european and middle eastenrn heritage. peoples ethnic background does not always determine politics
sorry i meant baby doc not pap doc. yes there was a reign of terror when his father ruled. one blacks and fair skinned people but under baby doc, they lived pretty well. True "ethnic background does not always determine politics" but let's be honest it sure does help. I really could not see a regular dark skinned haitian woman having the same story as Michele bennett, the real crook. baby doc was what haitians call a marozo. Michele dominated him.
Michele benette was a struggling poor woman with 2 kids and was swept up by baby doc (being light skinned helped). There's two things that can bring down a government, War and A woman.
If I have another son his middle name will be Toussaint :) I knew many Haitians were mixed but Haiti has no cenus so how would anyone know how many mixed race people are in Haiti.Plus the light skin people who aren`t rich are considered black so.. I am from Northern Haiti outside of Cap Haitian I was adopted at the age of 9. I want to know more about a Haiti and its amazing history. Plus I very proud we kept majority of our African roots and not try to be European unlike other countries.
I got nothing against this documentary, but why this title ? the forgotten faces ? I don’t think they are forgotten, should the government take a particular look to them ? are they threatened ?
@cosa545 i dont care what the government does. i think society and history should take a better look at the different migrations of European and middle eastern descended people who have made positive contributions to Haitian society and take a look at the positive people of these backgrounds from a historic and cultural outlook. in this respect the minority has been forgotten few people have taken much time into researching and celebrating diffrent cultural groups who were and are in haiti.
And I think this is cool, I research the same types of things, but I'm opposite. I am interested in the forgotten faces of the hispanic countries, which are the black people.
But cool stuff, I'm Haitian, and I've met white Haitians, Asian Haitians, mixed Haitians, and Arab Haitians.
@Zisin2day i am now living in Jamaica but i am a resident of Haiti. i have a place in cap haitien. and yes i have read and seen many things on the african hispanic history. pbs just did a special on black african culture and people in latin america. i feel that aspect of history is just as important to research and study as European, asian and Arab culture within latin america.
@Zisin2day i made this documentary when i saw the shock outsiders get when seeing or meeting someone from the west indies who is non black background and yes my whole life i have been close with people of all ethnic and racial backgrounds in Haiti and many other areas of the Caribbean.
@MsTomas086 instead of just randomly posting comments on videos ms tomas my i suggest you actually watch the documentary and see what the people in it have to say.
this is also their country being that most people in this project were also born and raised, educated, live and work in Haiti as well. they are nationals, citizens of Haiti and have been for many generations.
@MsTomas086 and if you learn your history you will find out there is history of many other ethnic groups in Haiti such as German, and Lebanese ans syrian, just to name a few
@choblockmayor not everyone in this documentary is mulatto. some are fully of european heritage while others are of middle eastern heritage. and i am wondering if you are rational and intelligent enough to understand that you just made a racist statement yourself. no one in this documentary ever made a racist statement or committed racist actions you however just generalized a whole group of people based on their racial heritage and color and that is a racism.
@choblockmayor Let us not forget that some of our black Haitians can be some of the most "so-called" racist people ever. They are very "classist" if that is a word, they judge people based on skin color, whether they can speak french or not, whether they are from the city or not. I am Haitian and have been around them long enough to know. One good place to see this is in the church. This so-called racist thing is not limited to only them. Its all around even on other "black" Carib nations.
@toyu17 i never mentioned elites in fact several people in this program are not elites they are middle class Haitians. again who in this program that was interviwed has caused anyone opression and pain, please give me an example this project is not about economic status it is about white european, mixed race, and middle eastern Haitians and immigrants not political or economic elites who come from all different ethnic backgrounds black included.
@toyu17 who is they? who in this video has ever oppressed anyone? are you talking about peter frisch a man who publishes books in Haiti? or abraham farah the immigrant from lebanon who sells floor tiles or maybe pasha brandt the man eho runs a haitian youth program or maybe you are talking about madam pincomb the woman who runs a samll humble hotel in cap haitien? what person in this film angers you the most and what did they do to anger you so much to accuse them of such evil?
@maxawesuse i can't fathom how you could believe such a thing... But even if you do sincerely believe that, it's important for you to know that what the world needs now, is love, sweet love.
The worth of a soul does not vary with levels of intelligence. I hope that one day you come to realise the error of your ways. You'd be happier for it.
@bhowden83 i know that scene seems insane to most people but there is a meaning to why i filmed that scene and included it in this documentary. it may be hard to pick up on but the whole dance and act has to do with political and racial conceptions that people hold in Haiti
The POLISH were Not imigrants, they were legionares sent by Napoleon to quash the rebelian, but instead joined the Haitians and fought for the freedom of Haiti! They were Ones who mixed with the Haitian population.
Don't be affraid to talk about that!, and if you don't know, get your story straight first!
(At that time Poland Itself was an occupied country, so they knew what freedom ment)
@hussar2343 this was not an in depth look at the history of the polish mercenaries in Haiti it was a overall look at the history of middle eastern and european people who have had a presence in Haiti and there History and haitians of european and middle eastern background. no one is hiding the history of the polish in Haiti it is a subject i intend to later film in the future.
that is why the title say white and ((bi racial Haitians)) there was never any claim stating that all people in this documentary were white. this is a documentary about the minority of Haiti. we include Haitians who are white and Haitians who are bi racial and we have haitians who have european lineage, middle eastern, jewish ect.
@genevapascallll the project documents the past migrations of people of euroepan and middle eastern background and there reasons for coming to Haiti, and the documentary shows how other cultures contributed to haiti in a positive way and it documents the ancestors of these migrants and colonials who still have family in the country some are white some are bi racial.
@ForgottenFaces001 you can keep on defending them but I and a lot of haitians including my parents and grand-parents know what im talking about you can keep denying it but i know the reality of my country and i know the majority of these people dont want to have nothing to do with dark skin haitians ,but you can keep worshiping them.
@choblockmayor i am sorry you your parents and grandparents are such racist bigoted people who generalize a entire group of people based on color. i am also sorry that you did not watch the documentary and you simply judge people before listening to them and hearing what they say.
i am sorry that people like you can not see their own hypocrisy or grasp the concept of hypocrisy, or generalization. those are the only apologies you will find here being a certain color is not a crime.
@choblockmayor and if you look at my posts i did not deny anything or defend anyone i simply pointed out the hypocrisy in your statement. i suggest you look up thos e words hypocrisy and generalization. and maybe watch the documentary and find out that many of the people in this documentary spend much time with dark skinned haitians/black people and are very unracist. if you watched the documentary you would understand that but instead you write hateful bigoted comments on my videos.
@medcharles9 thanks. i feel t vice needed to be included because there music is so very Haitian but people who dont know about them are puzzled to see how light skinned they are. t vice is a perfect example of how you dont need to be black to be Haitian. being Haitian is not about color but about culture.
@HaitianDeathMachine yes very true that the majority came in the early 1900 hundreds but the history of Germans coming to Haiti goes back to the 1830s, when some merchants came and settled in Haiti.
@LoneCuetlachtli i am glad you picked up on that my goal was to show how spanish/dominican culture has helped play a role in the creation of Haitian culture that is the reason i picked this t vice song and and me and roberto martino talked about the influences that make compas what it is.
I really like the topic of this Doc, superb! Correction, every culture in Latin American and Caribbean has had and still is influencing EACH OTHER in some way shape or form; in fact the world. Deep down inside I know you had good intention for doing this film but sometimes your comments, (what and how you respond to others) does raise concerns. It’s not so much the Doc, but your responses to some comments. IDK, Maybe it’s just the way you word it that’s questionable. Other than that, Good job
@joelp63 i am glad you enjoyed my documentary. in fairness the numbers of people of direct Caucasian background in Haiti are very low but Haiti has a rich history and many cultures, races and ethnic groups have contributed i felt it was time to pay homage to the positive aspects and people of european and middle eastern background in Haiti
@UniversalOneLove1 if you watch the documentary you will see several white/caucasian Haitians of german and french heritage and a Lebanese immigrant who is now a citizen of Haiti
@UniversalOneLove1 and yes i live in Haiti again the fact that you feel that my project is an attack on Haiti makes me wonder how you can say you watched it. never did i make false claims in my project i simply talked about subjects that were important to me and the people interviewed they are irrefutable statments and historic facts. the fact you see attack and accusation against Haiti and the people of Haiti shows that you simply saw things that were not there or you process things different
@UniversalOneLove1 my documentary is about people of other cultural and racial backgrounds that contributed in the creation of Haitian culture. baker was mentioned simply because he is a well known figure of English background no one claimed he was english simply a demonstration of the history of people of english background that came to Haiti and how there blood lines live on in haiti to this day. if you were to watch the program you would understand this. my documentary is not about class
@UniversalOneLove1 i will not answer your question about what minority groups have contributed to Haiti not to be rude but simply because it is obvious you did not watch the documentary if you would like your questions answered i suggest you watch the program.
@UniversalOneLove1 i suppose one the main messages of the documentary was lost on you.(( generalization is a easy thing to do and a negative thing to do.))
Hi, does someone knows the title of the track between 1'14 and 1'47? NB: I (tried to) talked with a blu-eyed white old lady near cap haitien, she only spoke creole and did not understand my french.
@SakakiniAllStars i wish i could tell you who made that song, i do not know myself, it was what the DJ was playing in the background when i was filming. i have asked many people and can not find anyone who knows either. yes there are many white haitians of the older generations that do not speak english, it is more common now for all Haitians of the middle class and buisness class to have a level of english. sometimes people are not used to hearing accents from other places dont sweat it.
IM GLAD U POSTED THIS BEACAUSE THE WHITES R THE MINORITY ND R OFTEN TIMES FORGOTEN.. THE ONLY TIME THEY R MEMTIONED IS TO SAY THAT THEY R THE WEALTH OF HAITI ND ALSO THAT THEY OPPRESS THE POOR PPL
even when people talk about these negative themes such as ((wealth)) or ((ruling over the poor)) whites are not included most only think it is mulatto people who have a presence in Haiti. but the people i interviewed are not oppressing anyone and several people i interviewed are not wealthy they were middle class.
i am glad you enjoyed the documentary and see worth in it. thanks
you said these whites are form three centuries ago , but about the Whites that were here since the Europeans conquered and have stayed . For instance, Petion our founding father was a mulatto, maybe the Arabs are recent but not the French. I never realized you were the guy in the video. I thought you conducted the interview with a White Haitian.
I am not one of the people interviewed i am the director/producer of the film. when i say whites i do not include mulatto people. we mean unmixed Caucasians have been in Haiti since before its independence to this very day. mixed people are included in this project because they draw there roots to white Haitians and there are french Haitians who have there blood lines from the early colonial days and others who have the heritage from migrants in the 20th century
This is a very nice documentary film - I am always astonished by the similarities of the dances in Haiti to the once found in Africa. Keep up the good work!
Haiti has more of its African culture intact compared to other caribbean countries because of the Haitian revoloution and the isolation it has endured. most people from other countries tell me when they visit Haiti they feel like they are in Africa. it means alot to me that a documentary film maker as good as you enjoys my work. thank you
i think it is amazing that just a couple of months before i put my documentary on you tube you were making photo montage vids on the same subject. maybe me and you are on on the brink of a new trend. thanks for your support
thank you and i have only scratched the surface there are so many more stories and documentaries on subjects like these that i have to do in the future
FASCINATING DOCUMENTARY... Wish you could get it on PBS, but they are too liberal, right? "Only whites can be racist"....
I heard there were about a million indentured servants/white slaves who were brought to the caribbean/barbados... that is a forgotten history too. "rednecks" - that's where the term comes from.
GOD BLESS!
I met a 1/32nd black white guy (blond hair, blue eyes) from St. Croix...
And there's that one small island in the Caribbean (Nevis?) that is half white/black.
funny you say that, i sent a much higher quality edit to several pbs stations and the pbs headquarters. they do not respond. i take no political stance i am simply trying to tell the stories and perspectives of people who are rarely heard and rarely have the chance to talk about rare subjects that are not often reported.
and yes there were white slaves threw out many islands barbados included, the red leg community, socttish and irish slaves that would cut sugarcane,
i have contacts in nevis, though i heard the white community is very small these days, but every island has a minority of whites and mixed people, i hope to tell there story as well if i can get the support, i am happy you found this project interesting. thank you for your support
@ForgottenFaces001- Oh no problem. Totally understandable ! Sometimes you let them expose theirselves for who they truly are . They get your videos popular and they do the same for mine as well. Just stay positive about it, because at the end of the day you're the one with the Trophy, not the Trolls.
@ForgottenFaces001- Oh don't worry about the trolls. Because the Trolls are the ones giving us more views. They are the ones that make our videos more popular. My channel right now is very popular now because of the "HATERS". Be happy and know that you're promoting the culture and image. You'll get the right feedback in return.
@ForgottenFaces001 haiti was the richest country in america under france, when they get the independence (and committ genocide of whites on the island, just some survives, but hey, 30'000 killed are not like 3000 killed by klan in america, were is my "mississippi burning" victim-movie?) they became, surprise, the poorest country in america, at the same degree of african countries, why? they were free in a rich land, is possible that this is an unwhorty race? nooo sure not............
you are welcome to your opinions but Haiti did have some good times and was starting to prosper in the early to mid 20th century, the documentary talks about this.
the Haitians mentioned in this documentary do not cry out for hand outs, and everyone interviewed and mentioned in this documentary are responsible for doing great things in Haiti. the people mentioned are owners of successful businesses, they are musicians, artists, media personalities ect.
i did not make this documentary to create a race war the subject is on the minority groups and the good that they have done in the country.
i did not leave i still live in Haiti as do most of the people interviewed, thank you for all of you hard work to improve the country from the rich comfort of the usa thousands of miles away
@FreiNemmersdorf Are you proud of your ignorance? You might want to actually do your research on Haiti to understand the true nature of its beleaguered state. It is your government that destroyed Haiti, in collaboration with some of the ethnic minorities AND even the black population - via coups / support for dictators / invasions of NGOs / "food aid," neoliberal policies, ect.
I'm not sure the purpose of this video. Per my experience as a Haitian woman, the ethnic minorities in Haiti, who tend to be more well-off than the black majority, tend to not want nothing to do with the majority of the population.
Not to mention many of them actually control much of Haiti's wealth, and at the same time collaborate with foreign powers to keep Haiti entangled in a cycle of poverty and misery.
@nadoop mrs nadoop, if you actually watch the documentary then you will see what its purpose is and you will see your generalization of non black Haitians is false.
if you would like another perspective that few are exposed to and have answers to your questions then by all means watch the other installments, if you dont care to learn more and are wedded to the world view you hold then simply dont watch, i hope you choose the latter
@ForgottenFaces001 I sat through this poorly made documentary, and I can't help but to ask about this so-called racism against white Haitians. So now white Haitians are victims, and not the poor black majority? When was the last time you saw these white Haitians mobilizing with the black majority to demand social, and economic justice?
@ForgottenFaces001 No, I watched all 6 parts, and although some of the folks made much sense, the narrator, I guess that's you, and his propaganda about racism, as if the suffering blacks have time for racism. Get a freggin' life, please.
I guess the ignorant among us who watch this nonsense will have no problem falling for it, but Ayisyens and non Ayisyens alike who are aware can't possibly take you seriously.
i am not the narrator i am the director the narrator is part black and loves many black people who are very close to him in life and are his family.
but you are the example of the racism i speak of your hate and malice is obvious, and racism come in all forms, we spoke about how many Haitians ((like you)) refuse to accept people of different skin color as part of the nation regardless of the citizenship status or how many generations there roots go back, thank you for being a example.
@ForgottenFaces001 No, you're just retarded. I am fully aware of my history, and know the demographic makeup of Haiti quite well. The problem is this propaganda that the black majority is somehow racist against whites. Give me a break. So now the millions of blacks sleeping in dirty tents and dying of cholera, while you sit around in your air conditioned home making propaganda videos are oppressing the white Haitians? Nonsense.
And the narrator is an idiot, no matter his color.
@ForgottenFaces001 When will certain groups in Haiti will learn to embrace equality and democracy instead of collaborating with foreign powers to support coup d'etats to keep the maintain the feudalistic status quo. You have to earn respect to get respect. You're no victim. Stop the propaganda.
nadoop i get encouragement and kind emails from black Haitians almost daily, many support my project, the reason is because they do know Haiti, you have seen something in this project that was not there, people claiming racism was a small part pf the project, you yourself stated whites were not part of the community and the way you describe them makes me wonder why anyone would want to be around a white Haitians, again i thank you , you reaction encourages. i have pushed a button
@ForgottenFaces001 All gibberish. Again, the notion of black racism towards whites in Haiti is pure and utter bullshit. It does not exist, and you know it.
What does exist, however, is a tiny elite, mainly those that Haitians were kind enough to grant asylum to, who are now enslaving the population in collaboration with the "international community." In other words, fake ass Ayisens.
But you keep propagating the propaganda, since you do seem to have an audience willing to swallow your lies.
thank you nadoop your messages are priceless, and your racism towards whites is the mindset i am sad i could not get on camera but i am glad that people like you feel stronger behind a computer than in front of a camera, i really needed to expose this kind of mindset to the public, keep up the good work
several Haitians in this video were not part of the wealthy, they were part of the middle class me included, but again madam nadoop i thank you for being the prime example of what i speak if bigoted, spiteful and hateful and a hypocrite, you reside outside of Haiti while we are still her. e and i am sure you own a air conditioner, again i thank you from the bottom of my heart for trolling me and helping raise the popularity of this program, i hoped for reaction from bigots.
@ForgottenFaces001 Why do you keep ignoring my point? Where are these oppressed white Haitians? Where's their plight? I don't see them dying of cholera. Who is oppressing you? The miserable black majority?
Do you mean like Charlito Baker who helped destroy Haiti via the rogue Group 184? Give me a break. You're full of shit and you know it.
@ForgottenFaces001 Why would you and the oppressed minority leave Haiti when the country's social-political-economic ills don' t effect you? My family fled Haiti to avoid being persecuted for our political beliefs, and even then, we are still very much involved in the country. You don't know anything about me or what I do, but I do know this whole "documentary" and the alleged racism towards white Haitians is pure and utter bullshit.
no one said anything about being oppressed it was stated racism and broad statements like yours are a problem thank you again for the attention and examples of what was being said, but for someone who hates this program so much you did sit threw all 6 parts, and you have made more than 9 comments, it must have had an effect on you or you are someone who likes to torture themselves watching programs they hate and has nothing better to do with there time, again thank you
@ForgottenFaces001 Then perhaps you should educate yourself on what racism is. The Haitian people have a problem with the ruling class in Haiti, NO MATTER THEIR COLOR, and their hatred for democracy and equality. It just so happens that the ruling class mainly consists of whites and Middle Easterners.
How is an ethnic minority that is generally well off than the majority a victim of racism, when it is they who control the country? Again, you're full of crap. CON'T.
Sorry Im late for this but, OH NaPOOP, having another bout of racial diarrhea? Your despicable disdain for anything "unlike you" shines again! Unlike YOU, ghetto keyboard queen, I have been to Haiti and know mulatto and a few Haitians or foreigners there and THE HORROR stories that they tell are something to cringe about, hard to understand for someone like me who comes from a more mixed society, something you definitely despise! For you, black bigotry ON OTHERS is just peachy!
@ForgottenFaces001 By the way, I post as many times as I want. Someone needed to let you know about your crap, and that person was me. You are spreading a very dangerous myth, and you need to be exposed. Haitians are warmest most friendliest people in the world, and foreigners - who tend to be mostly white - are seldom attacked or treated bad. Remember there are thousands of NGOs and charities in Haiti.
nadoop we said that in the documentary that Haitians ((were the most friendly and warm people that was a point made i nthe program now i really know you did not watch it. you are attacking a project you did n ot watch
and those non-black people in NGOs/charities can tell you volumes of the safety and care measures they need to take, the despicable stares and comments they hear on the streets,and how racial relations in Haiti are nothing but MEDIEVAL...how richer mulattos are educated NOT to marry darker people, and so on.spreading LIES he is? damn, how this truly proves you've never been there, PERIOD.
Again, when the minority is NOT black, is open season for you, my little resented queen!
@Certeroooo thanks for addressing her. i think people like her do not even take the time to watch the documentary they hate white and light skinned people so much they just react with hostility leave hate mail and run. but thanks for putting her in her place
we gave many examples of Haitians of european and middle eastern background who did leave for political reasons and danger if you actually watched you would see that but now i highly doubt you watched it, because the program had so much to do how the early immigrants and there children did flee.
i really feel you retained almost nothing that was said if yo udid actually watch the program.
@jubillee203- You obviously need to get a counselor if you believe thats the reason why Haitians are strong. Please don't go around telling people you're Haitian- because that racist comment towards white haitian people was just "DISTURBING". Do all the Haitians a favor nd don't tell anyone you're Haitian because what you said was just messed up.
@jubilee203- What in the world is wrong with you ?? I've read your comment and it just shows how Ignorant you are. I'm going to have to agree with ForgottenFaces001 because your previous comment is just pathetic.
well to say there is a group of people on the planet that are better than any other group of people is subjective and not something that can be proven but i can say in my life in Haiti and other nations in this world the Haitians i know are some of the best people i have ever met and spent my time with in my opinion white haitians, bi racial Haitians, and black Haitians included
I am proud to say, Haitians are the only group of people that ever gave white people the taste of lynching, humiliation, and of course, fear. That's why Haitians are so proud, and strong.
it is before the crack of dawn, early morning... and you are busy trolling other peoples videos? may i suggest you do something constructive with all this free time you have and make some vids of your own. either way i love people trolling my vids, it gets me more hits and stirs up emotion and attention on my vids. so please keep your racist hate coming i enjoy it. also there has been violence inflicted upon caucasians from many races including blacks all threw out history
i have been doing so much research on the mixed population in haiti online.I strongly believe that on my fathers side, were are chinese (if not that arab) My great great great grandfather/mother (more or less "greats", im not sure) had really light skin, baically white. I have really light skin and so do my uncles, dad and sister. But get this, my daddy looks asian and so do i. I really think that were chinese (almost positive) and i need more info on the chinese in haiti please.
the chinese history of Haiti dates back to the mid to late 1800s, the oldest families have all mixed in with the white, black and mixed populace of Haiti to my knowledge,Haitians with asian features are not as rare as people would think.
there are famous Haitians in politics and the arts with Asian History in there family. currently the Asian populace of Haiti is no more than 500, from what i know and only 80-100 are Haitian citizens, i will be working on a documentary on this.
thank u for uploading this cuz this ppl need to c. I rarely c non-black haitians in the media which is ironic for me because i am haitian (family of port au prince; with a haitian racial makeup up black and indian) and dominican (family of santo domingo; with dominican racial makeup up of asian).....i am of mixed background in both my cultures....not all haitians are 100% black!
i suggest you watch more of the video and you will then see what the film is about, if you turn it off after the first minute you will not get the point, the first 2 mins are a introduction into the culture of Haiti for those who do not understand what Haiti looks like
whats up man? i like your video. you say that you have a printing company in Haiti. I want to know if you have a good book on the Haitian revolution. I want it from a Haitian perspective then the American books here. I want to know about a women name Difele. She played a big role in the Haitian revolution. If the book is in French, i would like to know if you can translate it in English for me. I love your video. it very interesting and have great information.
Hello Forgotten ! Are you kidding ? Are you actually working on a documentary about the Asian community in Haiti ! That's so cool and awesome ! I just can't wait to see it ! Give me thelink to it when you are done, ok ?
@ForgottenFaces001 Hello Forgotten ! Are you kidding ? Are you actually working on a documentary about the Asian community in Haiti ! That's so cool and awesome ! I just can't wait to see it ! Give me thelink to it when you are done, ok ?
@champagnealex Are you kidding ? Shouldn't it be the other way around ? I know there are more Chinese people living in Jamacia than other Carrribean countries !
FrancisGalton 1 day ago
@FrancisGalton this Haitian who is white who is a very well educated on Haitian history is not full of shit there were whites that were allowed to remain in Haiti you need to research the polish who remained after the war they are mentioned in this documentary. also as mr frisch said there were a small number of french that remained and were not slaughtered that were kept for the purpose of rebuilding the country. many white americans were allowed to flee. research more.
ForgottenFaces001 1 day ago 2
@FrancisGalton this man who you claim is full of shit is a white Haitian who draws his roots to some of the french who remained on in the country after the revolt. and he is also descended of Germans who came in the late 19th century and early 20th century there have been and still are migrations of Europeans, middle eastern and asian migrants in Haiti. i suggest you watch the documentary before you make unfounded claims.
ForgottenFaces001 1 day ago 2
This is true my father was white Haitian irish polish and french and my mother black and dominican Haitian

that is so true, when you go to haiti, there's always some white haitian person behind a counter in the supermarket. in p-a-p there's the clothing store that sell knock off's of gucci, lv, those people look like arabs but their haitian.
Beetwate305 3 weeks ago in playlist HSO Playlist and Uploads
@Beetwate305 yes many small business and major business are owned by European and middle eastern descended Haitians and this shop keeper history is well rooted within the history of their ancestors migrations. many people assume they are people from Europe and the middle east that came to start business but as the documentary shows most of them are born Haitian citizens.
ForgottenFaces001 3 weeks ago
@ForgottenFaces001
Beetwate305 3 weeks ago

I got nothing against this documentary, but why this title ? the forgotten faces ? I don’t think they are forgotten, should the government take a particular look to them ? are they threatened ?
cosa545 3 months ago
@cosa545 i dont care what the government does. i think society and history should take a better look at the different migrations of European and middle eastern descended people who have made positive contributions to Haitian society and take a look at the positive people of these backgrounds from a historic and cultural outlook. in this respect the minority has been forgotten few people have taken much time into researching and celebrating diffrent cultural groups who were and are in haiti.
ForgottenFaces001 3 months ago 3
Are you Haitian?
And I think this is cool, I research the same types of things, but I'm opposite. I am interested in the forgotten faces of the hispanic countries, which are the black people.
But cool stuff, I'm Haitian, and I've met white Haitians, Asian Haitians, mixed Haitians, and Arab Haitians.

@Zisin2day i am now living in Jamaica but i am a resident of Haiti. i have a place in cap haitien. and yes i have read and seen many things on the african hispanic history. pbs just did a special on black african culture and people in latin america. i feel that aspect of history is just as important to research and study as European, asian and Arab culture within latin america.

choblockmayor 4 months ago
@choblockmayor not everyone in this documentary is mulatto. some are fully of european heritage while others are of middle eastern heritage. and i am wondering if you are rational and intelligent enough to understand that you just made a racist statement yourself. no one in this documentary ever made a racist statement or committed racist actions you however just generalized a whole group of people based on their racial heritage and color and that is a racism.
ForgottenFaces001 4 months ago 3
@choblockmayor Let us not forget that some of our black Haitians can be some of the most "so-called" racist people ever. They are very "classist" if that is a word, they judge people based on skin color, whether they can speak french or not, whether they are from the city or not. I am Haitian and have been around them long enough to know. One good place to see this is in the church. This so-called racist thing is not limited to only them. Its all around even on other "black" Carib nations.

Some of these" white haitians" do not look white? infact they look more mulatto then white.
genevapascallll 9 months ago
@genevapascallll
that is why the title say white and ((bi racial Haitians)) there was never any claim stating that all people in this documentary were white. this is a documentary about the minority of Haiti. we include Haitians who are white and Haitians who are bi racial and we have haitians who have european lineage, middle eastern, jewish ect.
ForgottenFaces001 9 months ago 7
@genevapascallll the project documents the past migrations of people of euroepan and middle eastern background and there reasons for coming to Haiti, and the documentary shows how other cultures contributed to haiti in a positive way and it documents the ancestors of these migrants and colonials who still have family in the country some are white some are bi racial.
ForgottenFaces001 9 months ago 7
@ForgottenFaces001 you can keep on defending them but I and a lot of haitians including my parents and grand-parents know what im talking about you can keep denying it but i know the reality of my country and i know the majority of these people dont want to have nothing to do with dark skin haitians ,but you can keep worshiping them.

ForgottenFaces001 4 months ago 3
@choblockmayor and if you look at my posts i did not deny anything or defend anyone i simply pointed out the hypocrisy in your statement. i suggest you look up thos e words hypocrisy and generalization. and maybe watch the documentary and find out that many of the people in this documentary spend much time with dark skinned haitians/black people and are very unracist. if you watched the documentary you would understand that but instead you write hateful bigoted comments on my videos.

I heard there were about a million indentured servants/white slaves who were brought to the caribbean/barbados... that is a forgotten history too. "rednecks" - that's where the term comes from.
GOD BLESS!

@FreiNemmersdorf Are you proud of your ignorance? You might want to actually do your research on Haiti to understand the true nature of its beleaguered state. It is your government that destroyed Haiti, in collaboration with some of the ethnic minorities AND even the black population - via coups / support for dictators / invasions of NGOs / "food aid," neoliberal policies, ect.
nadoop 1 year ago
I'm not sure the purpose of this video. Per my experience as a Haitian woman, the ethnic minorities in Haiti, who tend to be more well-off than the black majority, tend to not want nothing to do with the majority of the population.
Not to mention many of them actually control much of Haiti's wealth, and at the same time collaborate with foreign powers to keep Haiti entangled in a cycle of poverty and misery.
nadoop 1 year ago
@nadoop mrs nadoop, if you actually watch the documentary then you will see what its purpose is and you will see your generalization of non black Haitians is false.
if you would like another perspective that few are exposed to and have answers to your questions then by all means watch the other installments, if you dont care to learn more and are wedded to the world view you hold then simply dont watch, i hope you choose the latter
ForgottenFaces001 1 year ago
@ForgottenFaces001 I sat through this poorly made documentary, and I can't help but to ask about this so-called racism against white Haitians. So now white Haitians are victims, and not the poor black majority? When was the last time you saw these white Haitians mobilizing with the black majority to demand social, and economic justice?
Give me a break.
nadoop 1 year ago
@ForgottenFaces001 No, I watched all 6 parts, and although some of the folks made much sense, the narrator, I guess that's you, and his propaganda about racism, as if the suffering blacks have time for racism. Get a freggin' life, please.
I guess the ignorant among us who watch this nonsense will have no problem falling for it, but Ayisyens and non Ayisyens alike who are aware can't possibly take you seriously.
nadoop 1 year ago
@nadoop
i am not the narrator i am the director the narrator is part black and loves many black people who are very close to him in life and are his family.
but you are the example of the racism i speak of your hate and malice is obvious, and racism come in all forms, we spoke about how many Haitians ((like you)) refuse to accept people of different skin color as part of the nation regardless of the citizenship status or how many generations there roots go back, thank you for being a example.
ForgottenFaces001 1 year ago
@ForgottenFaces001 No, you're just retarded. I am fully aware of my history, and know the demographic makeup of Haiti quite well. The problem is this propaganda that the black majority is somehow racist against whites. Give me a break. So now the millions of blacks sleeping in dirty tents and dying of cholera, while you sit around in your air conditioned home making propaganda videos are oppressing the white Haitians? Nonsense.
And the narrator is an idiot, no matter his color.
nadoop 1 year ago
@ForgottenFaces001 When will certain groups in Haiti will learn to embrace equality and democracy instead of collaborating with foreign powers to support coup d'etats to keep the maintain the feudalistic status quo. You have to earn respect to get respect. You're no victim. Stop the propaganda.

ForgottenFaces001 1 year ago 2
@ForgottenFaces001 All gibberish. Again, the notion of black racism towards whites in Haiti is pure and utter bullshit. It does not exist, and you know it.
What does exist, however, is a tiny elite, mainly those that Haitians were kind enough to grant asylum to, who are now enslaving the population in collaboration with the "international community." In other words, fake ass Ayisens.
But you keep propagating the propaganda, since you do seem to have an audience willing to swallow your lies.

You're full of shit and you know it.
nadoop 1 year ago
@ForgottenFaces001 Why would you and the oppressed minority leave Haiti when the country's social-political-economic ills don' t effect you? My family fled Haiti to avoid being persecuted for our political beliefs, and even then, we are still very much involved in the country. You don't know anything about me or what I do, but I do know this whole "documentary" and the alleged racism towards white Haitians is pure and utter bullshit.
nadoop 1 year ago
@nadoop
no one said anything about being oppressed it was stated racism and broad statements like yours are a problem thank you again for the attention and examples of what was being said, but for someone who hates this program so much you did sit threw all 6 parts, and you have made more than 9 comments, it must have had an effect on you or you are someone who likes to torture themselves watching programs they hate and has nothing better to do with there time, again thank you
ForgottenFaces001 1 year ago
@ForgottenFaces001 Then perhaps you should educate yourself on what racism is. The Haitian people have a problem with the ruling class in Haiti, NO MATTER THEIR COLOR, and their hatred for democracy and equality. It just so happens that the ruling class mainly consists of whites and Middle Easterners.
How is an ethnic minority that is generally well off than the majority a victim of racism, when it is they who control the country? Again, you're full of crap. CON'T.

@nadoop

Get a life and stop spreading your lies.
nadoop 1 year ago
@nadoop
nadoop we said that in the documentary that Haitians ((were the most friendly and warm people that was a point made i nthe program now i really know you did not watch it. you are attacking a project you did n ot watch
ForgottenFaces001 1 year ago
@nadoop
and those non-black people in NGOs/charities can tell you volumes of the safety and care measures they need to take, the despicable stares and comments they hear on the streets,and how racial relations in Haiti are nothing but MEDIEVAL...how richer mulattos are educated NOT to marry darker people, and so on.spreading LIES he is? damn, how this truly proves you've never been there, PERIOD.
Again, when the minority is NOT black, is open season for you, my little resented queen!
Certeroooo 2 months ago 2
@Certeroooo thanks for addressing her. i think people like her do not even take the time to watch the documentary they hate white and light skinned people so much they just react with hostility leave hate mail and run. but thanks for putting her in her place
ForgottenFaces001 2 months ago 2
@nadoop
we gave many examples of Haitians of european and middle eastern background who did leave for political reasons and danger if you actually watched you would see that but now i highly doubt you watched it, because the program had so much to do how the early immigrants and there children did flee.
i really feel you retained almost nothing that was said if yo udid actually watch the program.

Haitians are the greatest. No better group of people on this planet. We might be poor, but we are Haitians.
jubilee203 1 year ago
@jubilee203
well to say there is a group of people on the planet that are better than any other group of people is subjective and not something that can be proven but i can say in my life in Haiti and other nations in this world the Haitians i know are some of the best people i have ever met and spent my time with in my opinion white haitians, bi racial Haitians, and black Haitians included
ForgottenFaces001 1 year ago 3
I am proud to say, Haitians are the only group of people that ever gave white people the taste of lynching, humiliation, and of course, fear. That's why Haitians are so proud, and strong.

i have been doing so much research on the mixed population in haiti online.I strongly believe that on my fathers side, were are chinese (if not that arab) My great great great grandfather/mother (more or less "greats", im not sure) had really light skin, baically white. I have really light skin and so do my uncles, dad and sister. But get this, my daddy looks asian and so do i. I really think that were chinese (almost positive) and i need more info on the chinese in haiti please.
auskayue 1 year ago 2
@auskayue
the chinese history of Haiti dates back to the mid to late 1800s, the oldest families have all mixed in with the white, black and mixed populace of Haiti to my knowledge,Haitians with asian features are not as rare as people would think.
there are famous Haitians in politics and the arts with Asian History in there family. currently the Asian populace of Haiti is no more than 500, from what i know and only 80-100 are Haitian citizens, i will be working on a documentary on this.
ForgottenFaces001 1 year ago 2
thank u for uploading this cuz this ppl need to c.

@niekalee305
i suggest you watch more of the video and you will then see what the film is about, if you turn it off after the first minute you will not get the point, the first 2 mins are a introduction into the culture of Haiti for those who do not understand what Haiti looks like
ForgottenFaces001 1 year ago
@FogottenFaces001
whats up man? i like your video. you say that you have a printing company in Haiti.
