About 10 years ago I was a huge AFI fan. I thought they were the future of bay area punk. Not so much a fan of the recent stuff. Nothing against them, i just like what they were doing in the begining. Anyways, Rancid is one of my all time favorites.
why fuck AFI?? there older stuff is fuckin rockin!! and im not even going to touch on "sellin out".. too many people are consumed by whats punk and whats not... theres too much segregation.. the punk mentality is "do what you fuckin love to do and fuck whoever trys to stop you or disagrees" it DOES NOT matter if you spend hours fashioning your studded vest or if you look the part... its about your life and what you want to do with it and its about THE MUSIC!!! not the fuckin look!!!!
Okay, fine. But all I'M trying to say is that youre saying AFI sold out in the genre of punk, but they're not TRYING to be a punk band. And you linked the Blaqk Audio CD to that. I don't care if you don't like BA, but you shouldn't be linking it to AFI selling out, they're two totally seperate bands, the end.
At one time, yes, they may have considered themselves a punk band, a hardcore band, whatever, but thats not what theyre trying to do anymore. So I dont see how they 'sold out' in punk.

I was reading an article in the Rolling Stone with AFI and Davey Havok was asked is there any genre of music you hate and he said "Ska Punk, either be ska or be punk not both" but yet he's singing an Op. Ivy song which is one if not the most influental ska punk band.
Davey Havok is a poser douche anyways. AFI hasn't been "punk" for the past 10 years. ESPECIALLY Davey Havok. They're complete sellouts to that genre of music. and now he put out a techno album? pathetic. New Found Glory is more punk than they are.

Which is funny because I said "AFI hasn't been 'punk' for the past 10 years". Which, if taken literally, would mean that they haven't been punk since 97'(10 years ago), a year before that guy joined the band. But that's if you want to take it literally. Personally, I'd say they haven't been punk since around 95'. But make sure you check you sources and not just adding "i might be wrong" or "not positive" after everything you say. It makes what you say seem slightly less credible.

That is definitely not Brody. Even at a glance, you can tell that is Davey Havok, and the voice gives it right away. Brody and Davey do not sound alike at all.
That isnt Davey Havok...Its Brody Dalle the lead singer from The Distillers. At the time of this video she and Tim were married but have since divorced.
davey isnt gay. i just got really pissed of because on buzznet someone posted a picture of him making out with his girlfriend, and he's really private so it upsets me.
I love Davey Havok/AFI......my husband loves Rancid :)
