@EsKu12 Norway was occupied by Germany so they weren't "saved". And Sweden's War history wouldn't be that thin: Sweden had a lot of wars in the 17th and 18th centuries. Check out the thirty years war, the great Northern war, the war of the hats etc. The Swedes have just been smart and lucky enough to not get into any wars since 1809.

Swedish army generals were for 100% support to Finland in 1939 and also minister of Foreign affairs Richard Sandler thought so, but he resigned after Hanssons goverment did the decicion not to send any troops. Hansson even resisted, when the USSR was expelled from the League of the Nations. But the problem was, the social democrat goverment, not the army or other parties.

Actually, i've just red the book "A land in struggle" which is about the finnish winter war.

And the reason why Sweden didn't help Finland during WW2 was due to our socialist government at the time, which refused to declare Soviet Union war.

It´s possible, but not the most propable scenario. It might be that Stalin had faced even much worse defeats. The motti tactics destroyed a lot of their troops, but the finns just didn´t have enough men to hold the biggest mottis. So the peace could have been more favour to us. At least Viipuri could have been saved. It could be that Sweden and Finland would have reunited as a one country, because there was such plans in 1940.

We only had about 140 000 men mobilized during the winter war and had we joined the war we still would have needed to keep troops in Sweden. We were outnumbered, fought a war against several nations yet most our enemies were defeated, we won most of the major battles and Poltava could have ended in a Swedish victory as well.

Problem was that the cavalry got lost, the infantry nearly broke through the russian lines but they needed help from the cavalry.
