CrossOver's a great product, and even now after a year of use it's incredible just how powerful it really is; thanks to CXG I've rediscovered old greats like HOMM3, Prey, and Painkiller. What they do for the Mac and Linux communities, as well as WINE development, is something which deserves applause from all of us.
hey with crossover for games when you "buy" the full version can you see all of the folders for the games (so i can see the wow folder and all of the crap in there) ?
You don't even need to buy a full license - since it's a reimplementation of the Windows APIs, the file structure is just like that in Windows. On the Mac, go to ~/Library/Application Support/CrossOver Games/Bottles/winxp/drive_c and your program files for your games should be there. If you have plain CrossOver installed, you'll have a CrossOver folder instead of CrossOver Games folder in ~/Library/Application Support.
OK since you've started reading this its too late to stop. in 2001 a 15 year old girl was killed in a clearing in scotland. nobody knows who or what killed her but there is scratch marks all over her body and she looks horrific. she is said to roam around the world and can go 2 places at once. if you dont post this comment on 5 other videos or websites in ten minutes she will suddenly attack you and kill you in some gruesome way. this is scary coz it happened to my friend. please.
Got a free copy of Crossover Games and it absolutely rulz! I could only play C&C 3 TW in Low quality graphics in Wine but in Crossover Games I can play it with Ultra High Detail - Everything is set to the max!!!
Well, I'm about to install Ubuntu on my box again and if Codeweavers works out as well as you guys say it will, don't worry. I'm sure plenty of people will purchase a license. I know I will if it works well. Don't worry about those 4Q numbers. If you're product is good and can stand on it's own, the added publicity will do nothing but help.
Sigh. Well, Jeremy said that he wanted more people to know about CrossOver - the poor man got what he wanted and then some...
Oh well. Thanks a lot for doing this guys! If this really does let me play the Orange Box on my MacBook Pro without Windows...then I think I really will toss in for a year's worth of support.
This has done a good job of popping crossover for games' name back into my head. I play a lot of Valve games, which vanilla Wine isn't quite up to snuff for. Hopefully I'll get a break from my school and everything to try it out on my ubuntu desktop, which is booted into windows for pretty much just gaming. Then, there's the whole visual studio and MS office thing...
I think what they wanted to happen was to make a political statement with their challenge, without expecting any of the conditions to actually have been met.
Still, I do think there is potential for this to benefit the company. If more people know about it and like it, the more support they may potentially receive - especially when they hear how it had to briefly be given away for free.
I'm going to seriously consider paying for my free copy. I just have to try it out first.
Hahaha! Really funny guys. It's good to see that you are humorous and somewhat serious at the same time. And thank you for the Free Stuff! Come on, there is gotta be something wrong with you if you don't like free stuff.

You guys are great!

Thanks for the free copy guy. Don't worry, I'm fairly sure that this day of mayhem will persuade many people to come back in the future and buy.
Anyway, great job on CrossOver, and WINE is awesome to.

Even though I got it free, I would a appreciate a donation system for Crossover today. Like how Radiohead treated 'In Rainbows'.

Good on you, guys! This was a great idea, and I'm it will turn into positive buzz for CodeWeavers. Keep up the good work!

Good grief. I hope you guys stay alive, CrossOver is great and the wine project also really needs the support.
Thanks so much.

Thank you SO much! I've always wanted a program for this but could never afford it.
Now if the program only had Warhammer Online support. :P
I'm assuming this "free" program won't last forever, and if Crossover is good, I'm gonna buy it.
Which is what I"m assuming you wanted to happen in the first place with this promotion. lol
Again thank you!
