Thank you yoryi1960 for all the wonderful Vikki posting. Yes, Vikki gets in done right the first time. Her voice is just as powerful now as it was in the 60's. The world has been blessed to hear Vikki sing in several languages. What a treasure! More Vikki, more Vikki, more Vikki!!!!
Yeah...it's been awhile since I read about it - I think it was a massive heart attack. There is a pic of him during the 'BullishTour', where he is clean shaven - without mustache, and he looked really good in that promo shot. I always felt he was a very under-rated drummer. He could play anything from jazz, latin, rock - you name it - and always looked happy when he played. A very sad loss from the music industry.
Thanks Yoryi1960 for giving fans a chance to see and hear Vikki here! A true fan and friend everyone... Happy Thanksgiving! Yoryi 1969 What a loving tribute to Vikki Carr and her fans!
The incredible thing about Ms. Carr is that she sounds just as great (even greater) now as she did way back then. Her rendition of this song is so wonderful. Thank God it has been preserved on video for us fans to love and enjoy. Thank you for uploading it! Good job!
First of all, thanks so much to yori1960 for uploading the Vikki Carr video's. I can't tell you how much of a Carr fan that I am. I am enjoying these immensely. These clips show a time when women could really sing! There is no digital enhancement or overdubs, no layering of voices. This is a woman who can get it right the first time. Notice how far her mouth is from the microphone. That shows just how powerful her voice really is. She's a true belter. Again thanks to yori1960 for the clips.
Vikki used to tell a story that when she first started singing live she would sing so loudly that the people in the front rows would be covering their ears because the microphone elevated her already loud voice to disturbing levels.
Too bad the American/English market didn't take full advantage of her voice and Vikki had to resort to the Latin market where she achieved a ton of hits up until the early 90's.
I've not heard that story before. Thanks for that! As for the latter, I completely agree. I am happy to see though that all of her 60's recordings with Liberty including her last one in 1970, "The Ways To Love A Man" on United Arists have finally been re-released. I know that this fan certainly is glad. Her entire American/English catalog from both the 60's and 70's and her occasional English release is now available on CD! I'm sure Vikki must be very, very pleased.
I don't think it's really fair to say she had to "resort" to the Latin market -- it's not like having success singing in Spanish (her parents' native language) is any less important/meaningful than singing in English!
Who cares where she came from? I'm too pleased that she did!

Nick Ceroli passed away at 45, Tonni Kalash at 63 , and Lou Pagani at 70.
Nick Ceroli died rather young?
