  • you people are fucking great, thank you for having such good taste. Why isn't there such good music like this anymore?

  • 3 people have had their souls removed and their ears cut off...

  • This was the last time they played this.

    Please come back!!!

  • I wish i can have a time machine so i can go to their show /:

  • this is I*N*D*I*E music

  • SHOEGAZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's incredibly apparent that 3 people HAVE NO SOULS OR GOOD TASTE IN MUSIC! I'm 18, was BORN the year before this show and the year that Souvlaki was released, and i am IN LOVE with them. 3 lady gaga/rebecca black/kesha/shitty pop music fans are trying to hate on some of the greatest music of all time.

  • I long for winter when i hear this at midsummer!

  • @IStehSHIT Winter is here bro .

  • i would like to see one time of my life see them live v.v

  • ugh i'd die happy to see them live

  • Comment removed

  • 3 dislikes? How can anyone dislike something as heavenly as this?

  • Personally, I'm more into Slowdive, can't really find my way into the MBV stuff...

  • @JuiCeBoX19

i used to feel the same way, but i first listened to the song Lose yourself in me and then i found another really great song which sucked me in which is called When you sleep :)

  • @JuiCeBoX19 Listen to Sometimes... then everything grows on you. I havent been able to go a week without listening to Loveless in its entirety for about a year :D

  • is this the only live version of "when the sun hits" on the internet? this is really good

  • i'm somewhere in there. one of the lucky ones that night to have been at the show.

  • thank you for posting

  • WhaleRider86 There are plenty of shoegazing bands out at the moment. (don't you have the internet or something?). Go check out the following (maybe not all shoegazing.. but certainly elements... everyones interpretation is different).

Radio Dept, Wild Nothing, The Legends, Guitar (look up their lp "sunkissed"), The Crocodiles, Tamaryn. That's just off the top of my head... there are tons more.

  • Just to clarify a few things

    LittleSa1gone Neil is 25 here

oscillate No this video isn't available officially, but you can find it online. A friend of mine filmed this... last time I saw him I told him it was on youtube and he was pretty surprised at that. (he made a few copies for some friends and sold a few back in 94)

  • @Y0UTUBEtheater find it where? the show was amazing that night and i would love a copy!

  • amazing. i think neil is 18 years old here?

  • this sound fucking maniac...

  • This is the muthafucking bomb.

  • this band owns...simply

  • words can't describe my feelings when i hear this

  • fuckin amazing. really a pity that theres no shoegazing movement nowadays. I really like mbv, ride, jesus and mary chain, spaceman 3 but slowdive are the best.

  • Moving. Brilliant. One of the best UK bands ever!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was restoring this older townhouse in Hawaii, on the edge of some preservation land on Oahu when I was introduced to this album. I was laying tile floors and getting to be a bit creative while listening to them. One of the best times of my life and certainly a soundtrack (to my life) I will never forget. Their music took me to another planet while I was working. In my opinion, Souvlaki Space Station is a VERY underrated album.

  • One gig and I could die. Their sound just fills me up with emotions and then throws me to the ground just to rise up and see a new begining.

  • @mossesphom i saw them opening for Ride at RPM, opening for James at Ontario Place (the night before this) and this Lee's Palace show. Fucking amazing!

  • @skouf007

    I envy you! :-))

  • it sounds like a synth but i know for a fact that the sound comes out of a combination of guitar pedals

  • does anyone know neil halstead's pedalboard setup? im bored with the guitargeek accuracy

  • im in fucking love with slowdive

  • amo esta banda..

  • Yeah, almost saw them at CBGB's in NYC, and they cancelled for some reason or another, what the fuck. Never came back as far as I know, which is strange for a band of their caliber not to play somewhere in NYC. Same thing happened when I was psyched to see Spiritualized at the Mercury in NYC, canceled day of show. Bumola. But yeah, Ride, saw them in Seattle at Rckcndy and fantastic, would love to see them again. I like Mojave 3 quite a bit, so maybe a chance to see them, but Slowdive-ultimate

  • Best band ever. Rachel=Eve.

  • This song is almost to amazing for my ears. I am in aw. Have you noticed that some bands don't sound good live? I think they sound awesome.. They don't sound like they do on their albums but it is different in a very good way. More spaced out.. Like Machine gun at the same show. Sounds brilliant. I wish they were still a band.

  • When the sun hits, best song of the 90's. Timeless.

  • Set the guitars for stun....christ I'd give anything just for one Slowdive gig!.

  • MBV and Slowdive are both amazing bands. Great video. Thanks for posting.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you...one of my favourite songs, they were wonderful live and it was that feeling of someone very gently just lifting the top of your head off for you all warm fuzzy and woosey. Gorgeous.

The drummer probably wore headphones so he was not distracted by the noise - these guys were very very very loud as were MBV, RIDE, JAMC and Curve - all top bands in their own right and who cares who influenced who when it sounds this good.

  • is this video available? the cound is surprisingly good.. i'd love to get the mp3's or the video itself

  • This is a great band , much better than MBV.

  • Dose the drummer play to a click track?

I see the head phones and was wondering.

  • Great shots of Neil at this show. Thanks for putting these up.

  • i dont see whats so great about loveless....souvlaki (and any other slowdive album) pwn MBV.... this is music at its best :)

  • Slowdive/slouvaki is generally much more distant and dark sounding than MBV, who in contrast are warm and intimate. I don't really prefer one over the other, just depends on my mood I guess. Both are awesome bands.

  • Dude! I'd kill to see these guys, I just saw MBV. That was the most loudest concert ever. All of these bands need to start touring again

Ecspecially Curve, Lush, Catherine Wheel and Ride!!!

  • don't forget chapterhouse

  • I loathe chapterhouse.

  • Lush's drumer is dead

  • I agree but I don't expect Slowdive to be playing anytime soon.

Everybody from the band has different projects now.

    But keep wishing!

  • Kind of song, kind of show where your head just splits apart. Must have been amazing... never caught Slowdive live.

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • Yeah, the album this is off of (souvlaki) is rivaled in greatness only by Loveless by MBV. Additionally, the track sequencing is right on, with a 7 minute or so song (Souvlaki Space Station) coming right before this track. And they were damn good live too, too bad the night i saw them Neil had a cold

  • diane dearest,...some would decry the pigeonholing Monet in so small a category as Impressionism...Shoegaze was unfortunate fanboy taggery the British media ran with in describing how faithfully melancholy the Creation bands tended to write songs.Superlative bands like RIDE or Slowdive embraced it,sublimating the pejorative to a family crest.

  • holy shit, i never thought i'd see this....

  • Best gig of the 90's was Cranes and Slowdive in London. This song and 'Machine Gun' stood out, both unforgettable. These guys should be insulted with the branding of 'shoegazers'. You call Monet a housepainter would you?

  • One of my favs growing up in the 90s. 5*

  • Ummm...yeah...but this is Slowdive?

  • yes... but they have a big infleunce of MBV...

  • Err, Slowdive was around first, and lasted longer (till the 2007 MBV reunion).

They remind me more of JMC though.

  • No, they haven´t a MBV influence, their biggest influence were cocteaeu twins, brian eno and syd barret, but never My Bloody Valentine.

  • Well CEIVE4EVER, I think you'll find that if you read their interviews from the early '90s, Slowdive always admitted to being influenced by My Bloody Valentine. Neil Halstead also said he hadn't even heard the Cocteau Twins until journalists started to compare Slowdive to them.

  • ceive4ever: Just listen to the guitars and you'll hear MBV; it is obvious that they had an influence on Slowdive.

  • MBV and Slowdive both RULES !

  • Brilliant. Good sound, too! Hey, does anyone know what the guitar effects setup was? I've never been able to replicate it...

  • guitar effect set to "awesome"

  • Head to guitargeek(dot)com. They might have it.

  • Wow, just listened to The Gatherings version.

Oh dear is about all I can say.

Music fine... then the vocals kick in...

  • My fav song by SLOWDIVE, absolutely love it....first time i heard it sent shivers through my body....when a song can do that to me...then I know I'd found something special.

  • the real shoegazers.

  • OMG so good T.T

    feels like i'm in heaven

i envy the guys went to this live show

  • Trance music.

  • One of the most beautiful songs on the planet.

It can give you a warm and fuzzy feeling or a melancholic mood. Fascinating. The guitars are great.

Sorry, the cover from The Gathering is no comparison.

It sounds like US Christian band has song it.

  • Hah - that 'The Gathering' cover DOES sound like low rent Christian rock. Good call! That singer sounds a little stiff and teutonic.

  • I've been listening to this song looping for the past two hours, no joke

  • that song is killing me.very beautiful lyrics.very beautiful sound!!!

  • Great song taken from a fucking great album ! Unfortunately I never could see them live...

  • i know this song , played by gathering but this version is cool to.

  • the cover by the gathering is horrible!

  • So fucking great!!!!!!!

    Slowdive rules!!!!

  • Mmm~ This is the kind of song you NEED to see live.

  • i thought this was deleted and had been looking for it again for ages, thanks!
