How is this guitar for strumming with a pick? I realize it's not necessarily meant for that, but I do know it has quite a bit of volume. How is the tone when it is strummed? Would you recommend not buying this guitar for a mixture of fingerpicking and strumming?
7 months later, I can now fingerpick, and I'm planning to purchase a custom M. Still love this song and wonder how it turned out! Guess I should see if you ever posted anything else.
Thanks. I'm still kind of amazed I have it. When I grew up a Martin was the dream guitar only for the pros or someone lucky to bring one back from the states. I started to play again when I hit 40. I just love this guitar and want to play it all the time. But then there's the family and work... :)
I have a similar story...I grew up with nothing more than strumming but always dreamed of a Martin. I took up the guitar at 44 with only DVD lessons and now play fingerstyle on a Martin M38 and love it. I don't think a china made guitar can ever compare to Martin. Martin employees are dedicated and passionate about their quality and reputation. Thanks for posting your playing...you're playing is a joy to listen to!

Is your M-36 still for sale? It's been a while, but I would love to find one used!

The only thing more beautiful than that awesome guitar (and I thought I didn't like Martins!) is that gorgeous song.
I want to learn to play like that, but I don't know where to start! Take a pick out of my hands and I'm useless.
These M guitars sound fantastic strummed, too. Probably Martin's best kept secret, in my opinion.
