In this version, despite being a famous pop star, she was very ill, had a brain tumor and she underwent a surgery, even though she knew the chances of survival were minimal. She didn't care what happened to her, because she knew that everything would be okay and she had done her job: protect Usagi/Serenity to the best of her abilities. She was very serious and mature at all times in this version.

She didnt have the surgery. She was going for a pre-op. She died on the way there.. or something. The party was that they were celebrating her having the surgery. Which obviously doesn't happen.

@Silverviolin To double-correct here it is not clear what killed Minako the show strongly implies that she died from the surgery. She lied to the other senshi about going in for pre-op tests and was really going in to the surgery. It is not clear if she died before she could have the surgery but she was strong enough to get around on her own still so that leaves surgery (which had a near 0% chance of success) as her killer.

@DrunkGulleyDwarf In the show, they give her six months to live, act 47 was aired exactly 6 months after the act where they tell her "6 months" :P. I believe that she waited too long for a surgery and she knew that, which is why she left the letter and CD. She knew she was going to die because she had left it too long. I guess we'll never know the truth though unless we hunt the creator and demand an answer haha :P
