@fathiali the trick is to keep your finger right on the button when you lift off to press it again instead of completly taking it off like 1 cm the fact that u only lift of like 1mil may feel slow but u get more button presses in.

Not bad for a ps1 game, especially since the first 3 gmetal gear games are terrible. Probably because they were on cartridges and because they were for the nintendo and the msx. But that doesn't explain the nintendo 64 games. They are just as good as ps1 games like metal gear solid or 007.

The ending in which Meryl survives is the "real" ending (the one which MGS sequels are based off of). Otacon doesn't die in the ending in which Meryl lives, he just doesn't play a prominent role in that particular alternate ending -- he still lives though but you just don' see him in the ending. However, Meryl doesn't live in the alternate ending in which Snake escapes with Otacon.

What really bugged me about this video is that during the fight with Metal Gear Rex you were still using chaff grenades after the radome was destroyed and the "mouth" opened. Chaff grenades have no effect when he can actually see you. should have tried stun grenades if anything.

Graphics aren't the best compared to today, but i grew up on this game. Played it when i was 13 or 14 back in 99'. This game was also one of the reasons i joined the military, Of course i never got to run a solo op and kill hundreds of terrorists on an island, but i got to blow shit up in Iraq which is realistically cool for me.

@soldier93rus well i think they made two endings for, the stealth and infinte ammo unlocks, and tell you meryl is the colonel daughter. but i think the real ending is were snake and meryl rides off because with otocan meryl dies, which is not true cause she is in MGS4.

Watching both endings makes me believe that MGS2 was a result of Konami giving Hideo an ultimatum: make more Metal Gear games, or they'll do it themselves. The series should've ended here and now. Post-Solid Metal Gear games are the result of choosing a lesser evil, honestly. (If you remember the horrible NES MG2, you know what I mean... )

The ending is dependent on whether or not the player can resist Revolt Ocelot's interrogation.

@liljunior4life well it all depends on the interrogation scene with ocelot, if you give in you let meryl die and if you dont she lives. i think the real ending is were meryl is alive, they had two ending for the stealth and infinite ammo items and were the colonel tells you that meryl is his daughter, if you let her die.

Could somebody let me know what the learning curve is on this game? I regret not attempting to play this series sooner but with the HD collection coming out, I'm giving it serious thought. I'm not the best gamer but I do love my games so...difficult? Easy to learn?

It's not too difficult to learn how to play. There is a virtual training feature in the main menu that allows you to learn the basics of sneaking in the game.

As for the main game, it's not too hard. The game is pretty forgiving even if you get spotted or die. Plus if you get stuck, you can use the CODEC to call up your allies for hints on what to do next. Plus there is a difficulty setting.
