  • john seems to have a minor case of the giggles during 'i'm a loser'!

  • @feelthejoy it's bc paul forgot the words in the beginning :)

  • No lip synching

  • These two were just the best in everything!!! (Miss you Johnny!)X

  • @ferraridinoman This was fun to watch-not many clips of them singing these songs. Always good, from the beginning to the end

  • great !!! this was my favourite Beatle's period !!!

  • @feargal75 No matter what period it was, they were fantastic! Enjoy this piece very much..

  • Wonderful to see this. When they still considered themselves ordinary folk and before the drugs and politics ruined their lives.

  • A very good band, thanks for posting.

  • George Martin admits he did not take George's song writing talent seriously enough.

Great to see the Beatles live here.

  • George's leads were always so clean and effortlessly played =)

    He was underrated..

  • I like George's comment "I Can't Hear."

  • Typical American presenter, never did his homework, only interested in trying to be the big I am. He says next week is MR. MANFRED MANN. Idiot!!!

  • Paul's bass line really carries the day.

  • great video! thanks!

  • Jim ONiel

  • Who is the announcer? He looks like Pete Duel.

  • @goodthing99 And he committed suicide. Shame the presenter didn't, doesn't know a thing about the British Invasion, only using the great Brit bands to make himself look good!

  • Sometimes in those days groups would sing live over a pre-recorded backing track...which was not the studio version but a backing track recorded just for that broadcast.

  • @vrkurosawa Interesting! In that case one can of course understand the electric guitars on stage not actually making any significant noise, but how does the drummer keep himself from making noise?

  • Amen 1213skc. Right on.

  • poor paul had the worst teeth. shows it here. horrible to have to hide.

  • You're watching the greatest rock n roll band of all time and all you can comment on are Paul's teeth? Good God almighty!

  • Stupid shallow Yanks and their pathetic 'perfect teeth' obsession.

  • Sorry about that. Some of us Yanks are shallow. Would please take them for me. lol Hollywood bull. lol

  • It's the lighting of the video ding song.

  • @cshargeit That was because the Brits were so deprived of proper nutrition due to fighting Hitler for 2 1/2 years while Americans sat on their asses. After the war the US insisted on repayment of war loans from its allies.

  • John at 4:58 and again at 5:11 - ever the clown, but oh so talented. They are the FAB 4 forever.

  • The Fab's at the top of there game.... and you can see there loving every minute of it.

  • freaking great

  • And "Where the Action is!"

  • When you've got Shindig and Hullabaloo, who needed American Bandstand?

  • Agreed, Dick Clark would have one of the greatest music archives had he not been so cheap and had all his performers lip sync instead of singing live... a waste of good video tape.

  • @rocksinger45 agreed, Dick Clark was only in it for the money and had shares in publishing and record companies. He gave those up to keep his AB during the payola scandals. He wasn't as big a promoter of black artists and rock and roll that Alan Freed was. Freed was crucified by Congressional investigations (under the influence of ASCAP who were trying to get rid of BMI and music they didn't control), Thank the Beatles et al for popularizing Rock and Roll and the following Brit invasion.

  • @Renshen1957 Yeah, but Alan Freed's hands aren't all that clean either he was given / took publishing rights from the likes of Chuck Berry and others to play there records...a sort of pay to play.

  • The best years of our lives.....for those of us who are "old" anyway.....thanks for posting...

  • George was a frikin awsome harmonist on the guitar!

  • Its interesting that Paul has mentioned that some mornings he wakes up and thinks "I was in the Beatles", like surprised...he's getting old and reflecting...

  • Love this. They were having fun. I love watching Paul looking at John.

BTW, performers on Shindig never lip-synched. It was always live.

  • @miraclay Sometimes it seems like they are singing live.. but I have seen other groups that seemed pre-recorded. Delaney Bramlett was a regular on SHINDIG, (part of the SHINDOGS). I worked for him up until he passed in '08, I'll see if I can find the definitive answer about lip syncing or now.

  • Absolutely amazing. I never knew they played Shindig. It's incredible that it could even happen without a riot over the tickets, or some other uncontrollable craziness. This must have been about the last time they could play a show like this. George's expressions during his solo in "Boys" are priceless.

I think it's lipsynched though, like everything was back then. There are some harmonica notes sounding when John doesn't even have it in his mouth. Too bad. Imagine if we had the real thing.

  • Great to see the Beatles when they were young, before they started getting cynical and deeper into drugs. They still made a lot of good music, but they lost their youthful energy.

"I think it was the trousers"... (record executive:"The Rutles in 'All You Need Is Cash'"....

  • FAB, FIVE, FAVE!!

  • I remember watching them on shindig. I was 9

yrs.old then. Loved that t.v. show black and

    white and all:)

  • stridex. thats awesome. i'm old too.

  • I remember seeing this, Ringo's song. I thought he had a good voice then. No one can beat John's though. Yes, I'm old.
