  • the top comments can't spell "colonel" ._.

  • @cookieraider126 i was about to Blow up on you..then i realized you were right

  • wait does David hayter does the voice for snake for part 1 cause it doesnt sound like Hayter

  • @salimdabest123 yes, he does his voice in 1 and 2

and i think in 3 also

  • @salimdabest123 yes it's him. I've played all the games and I think he sounded most natural during the first game. In the other games, it sounds like he is trying too much and it makes him sounds unnatural somehow, even tho snake's voice is still awesome as ever. But I like it the best during the first game

  • of all MGS this has the best sound quality and more cinematic too

  • Cambell and Snake has the coolest voices xD

  • @HankFreakingHill don't forget.... ummm..... liquid???

  • i have this game on the psp ahaha oh yeah

gonna play this game again today

  • Colonel and the Uncle from Ben 10 are the same.

    >yfw your brain is fucked.

  • @ElwoodGiygas >mfw I already knew that

    >mfw it's not that big of a deal

    >mfw I have no face

  • Man i wanna play this game again......

  • @Senel300 same here XD

  • Please sneak,

    Why should I?

Because your the only one who cares.

    (Transcribe Audio)

  • transcribe audio has improved alot since the beginning

  • MGS1,3, and PW are the only ones with halfway reasonable plots. 2 & 4 were clusterfucks, I get the feeling Kojima went on a bender while writing them...probably huffing ether off vending machine panties.

  • @sondlar No they were all good

  • @sondlar I think they were all great

  • @sondlar

    Well........

MGS2 is totally insane, but I love it.

MGS4 pisses me off a bit but it's still great I think.

  • @sondlar actually id say only mgs2 is a clusterfuck because mgs4 actually managed to tell the story of ALL the mgs games and have it make sense to a point. Its like a game only mgs fans would get because it references everything in the universe.

  • @sondlar thankyou! im glad im not the only one who thought 4 was a disaster

  • @sondlar I agree with you on MGS1. 3 & PW plots. While the MGS4 plot DID tie everything together it bothered me how lazy everything kinda was (Nanomachines were like the answer to everything) and the MGS2 plot started off good (with the Tanker chapter) but ended up becoming very convoluted and (in my opinion) ended up seeming like sort of a parody of the Shadow Moses incident.

  • I love all the codec dialogues, especially when Snake says: "Colonel, you 've changed.", but I think it's not in this video.

  • Coronal: Snake are you okay?

    Snake: I've been better

    Naomi: How's Meryl >:D

    Snake:......

    Naomi: :D

  • Ah... This was before the game was clogged with so much stupid shit.

  • Comment removed

  • i was in 4th grade when i first played this, and learned much about geo-politics/int'l affairs, genetic theory, and so much other interesting cool stuff bc they mentioned it in mgs...who said video games are bad for kids...then again, not all games are of the same caliber as mgs, so skeptics do have a point.

  • @jflydog Plus nearly every video game doesn't have a moral.

  • how much does naomi actually know about sigint ? and so, about the fact that ocelot killed him on purpose ? so, about the fact that he couldn't give his code ? so, about the fact that liquid is using snake ?

  • You resisted da torture good!

  • the colonel sounds like grampa max of ben 10 lol

  • @UberStrikeNZ

    Thats cos he is.

  • @UberStrikeNZ

    Same voice actor.

  • Grumble grumble..... Meryl...... Grumble Grumble..... screw Everything, I'm killing everyone.

  • ah ha! Can tell by what Snake says about Meryl that this guy completed the torture (well, didn't give in).

  • ..... !

  • Colnel has the coolest voice ever

  • @ukLeeham720 Paul Eiding is one cool guy he loves playing Campbell and everything related to the Metal Gear universe

  • @docjell56 It's always fun to hear him in other games, 'huh? that's not character X! that's colenel!'

    :)

Not a bad typecast by any means.

  • @ukLeeham720 Nah... Liquid has better ...

  • just bust out of there LOL

  • man the original brings back memories, in the remake they changed the codec even more looking like mgs2's, well except the pictures

  • snake looks like hes on something when he was talking on his codec

  • Why didnt they "Give" the remains cause Big Boss was still alive anyways *Spoiler*

  • is it true that if u play extreme mode and not die or kill no more than 3 soldiers and dont use rations u get to fight big boss at the end?

  • Its interesting...they were talking about the president not wanting the genome army to go public. The President at the time (I believe if time suits well, would be Solidus...and Solidus was the 3rd brother that of the cloning of big boss...ugh. so confusing but it makes sense at the same time. I guess that Solidus wouldnt want the genome army to go public because it could ruin his reputation? Lots to think about...now i wanna play this game again and go back and look for the parallels

  • Poor Sigint :(

It was his destiny to die.

  • wow, that brought back a lot of memories of 2000. Or was it 1999?

fucked up but, for me time just froze that year.....what is UP with that?! I didn't play this game until a year or two after its release, I didn't get it new.

  • i played this game when it first came out. i had no idea what they were talking about. i was 8 or 9. i still was able to beat the game somehow :D

  • @TerraXeildan same here but my mom took the game away because/ she heard someone say danm i really what to play this game again

  • one of the greatiest games ever! and one of my absolutly favorite ps1 titles ... only awesome

  • wow if you guys play peace walker the backround of metal gear rex gets even broader and makes more sense also youll know what the first metal gear was but you know chronologically speaking of course in reality rex was made before peace walker or zeke but in the games history it all makes sense

  • it's a shame they spoiled the story after this game in the sequels.

  • snake is so handsome.... ^_^

  • The Colonel is an asshole in this game.

  • @toshimoog you try agging 40 yeas in 6 months and see how your voice sounds not to mention all the smokes

  • @toshimoog he did that on purpose, since snake smoked all those squares from MGS1-4

  • Sigh, MGS1's VA and scrip were so fucking good, it's all down hill with MGS2 and 3 and then off a cliff with 4.

  • @DeathtoRaiden1 Your username=no bias at all.

  • @UberUberLegend91

I don't think you know what bias means.

  • If he didn't know, would he be using it ?

  • Does any gamer chick here like me find that snake is hot?

  • THATS WHY THEY CANT GIVE THEM THE BODY!!!!! Intresting.

  • haha poor naomi had a horrible accent, mei ling got it way worst though

  • One of the sweetest moments of the game. Badass.

  • big boss' body is potentially more dangerous than all the nukes in the world....imagine thousands of snakes were in the world.... it would be hell on earth!

when we find out that solid and liquid are clones of big boss we realise that the U.S. cant give in to the demands in because its so dangerous...in other words big boss' body IS the most advanced piece of military technology the U.S./patriots have!

  • @gillenpantera I don't think they could do much with just the remains though, this whole game revolved around how genes work. To have someone like Big Boss, they would have to tap into the specific genes that made him "Big Boss". It's probably the reason they made 2 clones instead of 1 as they divided those genes in half so they could weed out the useful genes. We all find this out too as Ocelot thought Liquid was the superior clone when it was really Solid who always came through unscathed.

  • @gillenpantera

"imagine thousands of snakes were in the world"

it would be an awesome childhood playing hide'n'seek with them

  • @stardingo Totally agree with you this is by far the best MGS ever better than MG2 MG3 MG4 this game was a like a movie, great story and game rolled up in one.

This is the codec conversation in the game

I also miss liquid best villain in the game :)

  • I love how they purposely ignore talking about Big Boss actually being dead.

lulz, funny enough, I actually thought of this exact scene when I found out Big Boss was still alive on the day MGS4 came out. XP

  • Snake using the word 'patriotism' to Campbell....who's being used by 'The Patriots'...talk about cruel irony...and at that time, this was way before Kojima thought of the idea of The Patriots...but after playing the entire saga, parts 1-4 all involved the word 'Patriot'

  • This game was soooo amazing! It started off amazing series & for its time was revolutionary & is my 3rd fav MSG game & probably on my top 15 or 10! Wish they still made games this revolutionary now a days....Oh yea i forgot new MGS coming out!

  • WAT DOES THIS MEAN?!

    so intense

  • wats big bosses codec number ?

  • I like the politics behind Metal Gear Solid. It's been a while since I've played it, however. I should do that again.

Anyone recommend any books for learning about the full story behind Shadow Moses—Metal Gear Rex, the politics, The Patriots, the genome soldiers, etc? I'd be very interested.

  • @GeneStarwind09 I'd stick to the in-game information, if I were you.

I've seen a Novelization (on which Kojima did not partake). That's the only novel or half-decent book there is, I believe. The violence is rather toned down, and Snake rarely even engages in action - I'm all for covert operations but they overdo it. There are also name-changes, location misdirections... it's just... bad.

Pop the games in, press Special/Extra, and read. Best, most accurate information you'll ever find, friend.

  • @RebornAleph Thanks for the heads-up. I'll do just that!

  • LoL at 0:21 !

  • "meryl, right? I'll save her"

hell yeah, real hero saves the girl.

  • They should have kept big boss dead.

  • Hmmmmmm! Interesting! Do you think the Colonel knew something? I understand the whole plot from 1-4 but I did not pick up on that silence from Colonel. What was he going to say when he said "You see....."

If anyone knows message me. I am very intrigued about that!

Thanks kasser33 for the upload, the amount of times I have played this game some things just don't click

  • I don't get it?? At what moment do they hint that the president is George Sears (Solidus) :-S

  • MGS 1 is full of these cool, realistic and exciting conversations!!!

  • I dont know why but i was little when i played this and i always thought the colonol was wearing one of those old fashioned sleeping hats with a little bob on the end instead of a beret xD

  • @SNIPERHAWK8 i loled

  • This video makes me want to play mgs1.

  • why couldnt metal gear 4 be more like this :(

  • good memories.., if any of you guys want to talk about mgs1 find me on psn. Speedy-Mcspeeds. I'll text chat anytime.

  • They couldnt give up the remains of Big Boss..... He was still alive at this point! LOL Part 4 people!

  • and it was explained at part 4 that the one that they're talking bout "big boss' remains" was solidus' body

  • At this point Solidus was still alive. Thus Sons of Liberty,

  • solidus was the president at this time.

  • Exactly. Which is why Big Boss couldn't have been mistaken for the remains of Solidus at this time- he was still alive after all.

  • memories man fuckin loved this game

  • I love it when Campbell asks "Did the terrorists find out the Chiefs password?"

"Um, yeah they did Roy....... we established that hours ago and you yourself even mentioned it too......"

I think someone is getting confused with the story. Or he's just old and forgot. Or maybe he got abducted by aliens again.

  • tht had nuthin to do with big boss

  • uh huh....

Nothing to do with Naked Snake my ass

The demands - give Big Boss' remains

if were listening, you'd hear Snake tell Colonel to give them the remains

    try 1:54

  • Naked Snake IS Big Boss.

  • i find it hilarious its impossible to die, and sttay dead if your a bad guy in metal gear solid

  • listen to that dark ominous music.

beautiful, just beautiful; I hate how "bright" subsequent MGS titles were.

I mean the whole noir look of the PS1 classic makes, easily the best one.

the sequels weren't dark enough; war, is not a damned garden, its all dark, depressing and ominous like presented in this game.

  • I think MGS4 had a more epic feel to it, and i agree about the giddy music in the other MGS games, but MGS4 is win mode.

  • @stardingo747 I agree. I actually refused to play anything but the tanker segment because of the music and the style. Raiden was not for me. I watched a friend beat the whole game though.

The remake of MGS for Gamecube was pretty good, but I hate how they changed the music and made his pads gray instead of white, while keeping the white accents on his gloves.

MGS 3 was pretty damn good, but nothing will ever step to the first.

  • @stardingo747 all the big shell needed to be 20 times better is to have taken place at night day time ruins the mode of a lot of games just look at left 4 dead 2most of the stages are during the day and it kinda ruins the feel

  • @stardingo747 I agree, even though i am a gre fan of the entire series...the first was the best BY FAR...it was almost scary to play, some really good mix between action and survival game. It was very new at that time....miss the old style.

  • @HittokiriBattousai17 too bad this wasn't the first game lol

  • @BetterJS Emmm...yes it is, this is the first Metal Gear SOLID.

  • @HittokiriBattousai17 There you go lol. Then again, you did say series :|

  • @BetterJS There's Metal Gear series and Metal Gear solid series...and there's Metal Gear Ac!d series too.

  • @HittokiriBattousai17 The Metal Gear Series and Metal Gear Solid Series are the same thing

  • @JWA3001 You obviously don't know nothing about MGS.

  • No, they're not, JWA3001 . The Metal Gear series are the series that came before the "Solid" ones. 'Metal Gear' and 'Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake' don't have the "Solid" title on them .

  • @stardingo747 regardless MGS4 was pure epic.

  • @stardingo747 the second part have an dark look too, only not the green more blue. ^^

  • @stardingo747

Darkness in this game was used to make the graphics look better, more contrast=more realism. I do agree that it gave the game a special quality but I don't agree that the seqsequent games were bright in any way. They all had their own style, which is what made them all incredible. MGS3 is my all time favorite game, and the psychological effect it created and the mark it left on me is much more darker than the one MGS1 did. I did miss Snake's dark hair color though.

  • @ScarletSnake ah, not really; the darkness part. Twin snakes on the gamecube remains dark, despite the improved graphics. Also you're right, the subsequent titles were not bright, but they were a rose garden compared to the first one. I agree regarding MGS3 though; I actually considered purchasing a PS2 just so I could play it again.

  • @stardingo747 I dunno, MGS4 is pretty depressing...

  • @stardingo747 Ever heard of lowering the brightness settings on your TV? Problem solved.

  • @UberUberLegend91 Ever heard of themes before?

  • Adamska51 they don't do that yet cos solidus is still alive in mgs1 but we don't see him until 2 those really are big boss' remains that they want

  • liquid found it more useful to be in ocelot's body since he was working for the patriots - this way, liquid could see EVERYTHING. if he was resurrected like all the others then he'd be exactly where he was at the beginning of mgs1, worse even maybe

  • All right ... all right.

  • Liquid didn't come back or choose anything. Ocelot choose to act like liquid so that they would follow the routine of MGS1.

    Ocelot is a patriot.

  • @kakihara1 yea, big plot twist , in the end it did make sense on his part

  • @kakihara1 More than that, he is the son of the Boss.

  • @kakihara1

No MGS4 just had bad retcons and poor plot holes.

  • @kakihara1 Yeah we learned that in mgs4. but i wonder though, how come you can hear liquids voice in mgs2 ?

  • @VincentClaw because Cam Clarke didn't want to voice him in MGS4 or so iv heard and i don't think they had thought that far ahead

  • Actually, stawg007, it's because someone from the official Metal Gear staff thought it would make more sense to use Ocelot's voice, since Liquid Snake is (suposedely) speaking through his body.

  • @filipeflower ahhh that makes sense, although i really missed the cocky british accent

  • @VincentClaw According to the MGS4 database bio for Liquid Ocelot, when Ocelot had Liquid's arm, Liquid really WAS possessing him, but after he had it replaced with a prosthetic (as seen in MGS4), Ocelot used hypnosis and nanos to fool the Patriots into thinking he was still possessed. Basically he stopped being Liquid Ocelot after Big Shell, and was just Revolver Ocelot, hypnotized into thinking he was Liquid.

  • I hope that isn't just another last-minute cover-up explanation.

  • @filipeflower Cover-up or not, it is canon; and it does sort of make sense, especially after the revelation in MGS3 that Ocelot is the son of the Sorrow, meaning he could've easily inherited some of his father's sensitivity to lingering spirits. Though, of course, coherent storytelling never was Kojima's strong suit.

  • There you have it. Don't blindly believe every little thing you see written on that database .

  • OK, I guess that makes sense, but if that were true they'd be able to bring back any one. Like Psycho Mantis, or Sniper Wolf. So why didn't they use that tech to revive Liquid Snake instead of removing his right arm and putting it on Revolver Ocelot's arm.

  • To answer dumb questions like "Who did Snake kill in Metal Gear 2" if Big Boss finally died in MGS4, the answer is SIMPLE:

Big Boss WAS killed in MG2. They SAID so in 4. They used the same KIND of tech used on Raiden and Grey Fox to revive him. Duh.

  • hey dumbass that wasnt bigg boss

  • @keitarojohn R u deaf?

    1:50

They want Big Bosses remains, which is what ACT3 in MGS4 was all about.

  • Then how come there wasn't a scratch on him on MGS4? No burn marks or nothing. No one could survive being burned alive.

  • they took parts of other people like solidus cus he looks like him and other people

  • @djdizzyd85 ever heard of skin grafting and besides metal gear solid 4 is in 2015 im prety sure if they can make people in to kick ass cyborg ninjas and feamale ninjas ( raiden i mean) im sure they have found a way to make artificail skin

  • Comment removed

  • There's something I don't understand. If Big Boss didn't die until the end of MGS4, then who did Snake burn alive and kill, on Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, in Zanzibar?

  • Well I guess Kojima at first thought that's the end of Big Boss and maybe Metal Gear.

Then when he started "Metal Gear Solid" series he added things to Big Boss bio like his body was taken by the Government after his MG2 battle and as you can see in my video, The Government does not even want to say what is really going on with Big Boss.

I guess Kojima wanted to hide Big Boss until he thinks of how will he release him in to the story. His come back in MGS4 wasn't just random thing or cliché

  • @kasser33 Hold on!!

everyone thinks Big bosses remains are solidus right theyre fooled, but if solidus is stil alive in mgs2 who the hell do they have now?

oh wait!! Big boss was put in a coma aye in mg2, then his body was taken by Big mama was it? ddnt this al happen shortly after mgs2?

  • @MuaythaiPro1 Big Boss was held by the patriots before shadow moses. In order to gain access to where Big Boss was held in mgs4, they have used Solidus remains because he is identical to boss's genes and he can access the patriots AI core.

  • @kasser33 ooooh!!

Is campbell working for the patriots too?

kawz ddn Snake say Campbell had big bosses remains?

  • @MuaythaiPro1 Campbell was receiving orders directly from the president (Solidus). Solidus was receiving orders from the patriots (although at the same time Solidus betrayed them by using Ocelot to steal REX data).. It is really complicated

  • @kasser33 Hold on.. So solidus the bad guy from metal gear solid 2 is the president of the US? wow i never knew that!!!!

so the remains theyre talking about in this codec conversation is in fact big boss?

  • @MuaythaiPro1 Yep just google "George Sears" to find more about solidus ... And yes, At that time, Big Boss "body" was known to be held by the US government to continue "work" on him. check your youtube message inbox

  • @kasser33 I don't understand how no one looked at George Sears and said "That looks like Big Boss!"

Did the lack of an eye patch throw them off that much?

  • @Sterlng well, he has a fake public identity backed by The Patriots themselves and they did put him in a high political place, so I guess no one would question his true origin. Also I recall Ocelot saying to Solidus that he look like Big Boss (only after wearing an eye patch though :p)

  • @kasser33 I believe Solidus was made for backup in case someone tried to steal Big Boss's remains. I believe. Of course, he also needed the eye removed, but it would be mean to just shoot him right smack in the eye. Luckily, Raiden took care of that.

  • @MP3videos why take out one of his eyes they only needed to keep big bosses bio metrics alive and solidus did that fine

  • @Sterlng Some people look like Michale Moore.

    Doesn't mean they're clones. ; )

  • @Sterlng big boss had been "dead" for nearly 15 years by this time

  • @kasser33 wait a minute... they didnt actually have big boss's body thought i just realized that. did campell know what was going on about that?

  • They took the background music out of this part in the remake which totally murdered it with a hatchet!

  • C'mon Colonel..Why don't you stop playing dumb?

    xD

  • One of the most emotional moments in the game. Especially the background music!

  • Great memories of a great game.

  • true ten years ago:D

  • This was/is my favorite PS game, and still my favorite MGS game. I mean, I know the new ones are DEFINITELY great in their own right, but I think this one is the best because of course it was the first in the series, but I think the story was the easiest to follow, and it was a very emotional game!

  • yes a friend of mine had this game i had a n64 at the time :P but that game was defelintly the best, part 2 was a good game but raiden..... part 3 pulled it self back to the top. 4 was my number 2 favorite mgs

  • now thats what i call nostalgia!!

  • holly shit

great one the mgs is great game

    keep it up
