  • Try this everyone if you have this problem ! Turn the camera on its side the bang it hard on a table. I just tried this as a last resort and its working fine now. I kept getting error on my screen before. Hope this helps someone.

  • Spencer, look two messages below yours.

  • yes it;s bit to late :(((

  • There are ways to fix this. Google "lens error". The first camerarepair blogspot result contains troubleshooting steps for this problem.

  • yo guys, i dropped water on my camera, its turns on as always but the problemn that when i want to shoot a video or take a picture, it just black, and sometimes like a blue scarmbled channel, my camera is a sony cyborg, they say its water proof....

    i just lost 450 bucks

  • I had the problem today and I went to best buy, and they said I needed to send it out for a replacement.

And so I came home and my dad adjusted the lens and specifically I mean touched the bottom, top, right side, or left side.. any.. and gently pressure the opposite side.

That's how I fixed mine.. if not I am so sorry :(

    Good luck

  • How Do u fix it though , why did'nt u show us?????????wat a waste

  • Same problem after 2 years of excellent use but now is worthless ... I was epecting more from a Canon! I have Googled this problem and it is very, very common! Seems like a Canon problem for sure!

  • my camera fell today and i ahve the same problem (and im not sure if i have a warranty) i bought it in christmas 07

  • Same problem here.

Canon Belgium won't help me and refers to their (external )repair center abroad. One of them doesn"t reply on my request for a repair price, and the other one says that I'll have to send it in first (would cost > 50€, even if repair would cost more than a new one).

When I complained about this, my e-mail was answered by yet another external company in yet another country.

Sorry Canon, but if this is your "customer service", I'll take my business elsewhere!

  • It's happend when i was holding camera and i pressed power button by accidental, and there where no room for lens.I know it was my mistake.

  • @Aras2x you didnt even show us how to fix dat dam camera & im dying to fix mine your a disgrace to everything

  • @Aras2x too bad they say this kind of error is not under their warranty? :(

  • ps if you have had it less than a year, get it repaired under guarantee/12 month warranty.

  • how long have you had yours?

did you bump, bang or drop it,maybe? or it could just be you got a faulty one from the start.

i got one a couple of years ago and use it constantly.never had a problem with it.

i had my ixus55 even longer and that's still in great working order too.

  • yea, exactly! Me too, same problem and canon is aware of this and continues to sell these crappy, expensive "cameras"
