  • @iammichaelrist Their version keeps the right number of syllables, and the stresses are in the right place as well. My first instinct was yours, but the reason it works so well is that they have paid attention to the musicality including rhythm of the words.

  • Great song! I'm from one of these streets too and posted a vid as well (the one with the postie). Hope you guys are getting on OK.

  • Are there any lyrics to this anywhere??

  • @xoxanniexo I had no idea what you were talking about as we're not The Edge listeners- but have listened to it online this morning. We had never heard him talk about Fraction Liquefaction- so it's just a case of great minds think alike!

  • not really la di da...... rather great to find something light in the struggle... it's what keeps the people motivated, and music always unites!

  • To Kingmooloo and anyone who's worried about a lighthearted song about Christchurch's troubles: try looking at it a different way. You can be pessimistic and stress up the disaster as hard as you can - or you can look for positive ways (humour, creativity, connecting with others) to help get through the daunting tasks at hand. Either way, it's still the same problem. Attitude is your own decision. After the quake, I was moved by that Cantabrian resilience and humour. Great work, Team Reynolds!

  • when I heard this song I just shook my head. Does anyone else think this song is a bit la de da considering the deverstation? Just a thought.

  • Does this song do justice to Christchurch, does it accurately reflect the tragedy of all those lives and homes lost? I think so!

  • Does Japan do humour? Maybe they could see this and do a nuclear version.

  • @hampy077 We live in Parklands- my husband (responsible for the idea, the footage, the editing, the recording of vocals and the mix) has a background in sound and regional television but is no longer in the industry. I (lyric writer and singer) am a stay-at-home mum of two preschoolers, who dabbles in singing. We are currently in the process of recording some of my original material which we will post as it becomes completed. Thank you all so much for your support and interest in our video!

  • Classic! Well done.

  • haha that looks so bad

  • A REALLY MOVING SONG

  • Also will add in my own experiences. My bf and best friend live towards the east. Straight after the earthquake half their street was covered in water (Shirley area). It was like looking out at a lake. The streets surrounding them were also either flooded or filled with silt too.

  • WELL DONE! All us JAFAs are pulling for you guys. Loving to see an element of humour flowing through even though the aftershocks keep on coming and it's doing your head in! :D

  • I consider myself a parody piss-take genius but I couldn't have done this better.

Great example of why no matter what life throws in your face you pick yourself up, grit your teeth and keep going because there's always a reason to smile.

Don't let the bastards bring you down

  • @phillyvinilli nice comment, but hte last line not needed, love all

  • just brilliant, awesome voice as well, lets hope this makes it to the top of the charts and global, good work all, shows the true mess that liquafaction makes too. Another liquafaction victim, Burwood :-)

  • We were singing similar lyrics along these lines last week, we had There's a fraction to much friction, leading to this liquefaction...

  • Played this to my class of Year 5 students today - they were totally blown away by how the liquefaction affected so much. "I think that looks scary" was one of the comments. Kia Kaha from Raumati Beach, Kapiti.

  • This is awesome. Being our neighbourhood now we can show the family what it looked like. Well done! and a good parody at that.

  • Awesome song. I have been digging sporadically around Christchurch for the last few weeks to away the time. There is still several thousand tons of this stuff lying around - you just have to know where to look. I just finished a job in Beckenham yesterday where the lady said she would get a rotary hoe in to finish it off. I am sure thats not the only place around Christchurch playing the unwilling host to this gunge.

  • This is great! You should if you could get someone to sponser you, turn this into a cd single and sell it with profits going to a quake relief fund, I would definatley buy a copy. Thanks for putting a smile on your fellow Cantabs faces :)

  • This is awesome. Most Kiwi parodies are pretty poorly sung or written (or both) but you've done a good job. Well done guys.

  • Absolute genius! Takes the sting out of it all a bit - we need a laugh.

  • Really well done, sad, but with a sense of humour, sure hope it gets that 'steam clean'

  • Really professional looking video. Great choice of music, lyrics and singer.

  • PARKLANDZ REPRESENT

  • This is really really good! Well done :)

  • Sorry everyone- I put the lyrics up in the description last night but they don't show up unless you click on the "show more" tag. We are BLOWN AWAY by your comments- thanks heaps for the feedback.

  • @TeamReyno1ds um, am I being a bit thick, but where is the "show more" tag?

  • @TeamReyno1ds oh, and you should release it as a Charity Single!

  • Sundown Karaoke have VERY kindly given us permission to use their backing track- check them out at sundown.co.nz - they are legends!

  • cheers for vid :)

  • I miss the days when youtube didn't stuff up the formatting of posts. Anyway, I tried to type out the lyrics for any non-kiwis who struggle with the accent. This was brilliant, I loved it. I was just woken up by another aftershock, so it was great to have something to watch and listen to. Cheers!

  • Utterly Brilliant!! But it made me sad too :(

  • You deserve to be world famous in NZ, and quite possibly the world.

  • Oh haha he did :)

  • @ 2:20 just drive it out mate!

  • Love that positive Kiwi attitude. You guys rock!

  • Brill - Go Canterbury!
