When Mortal Kombat went with 3d graphics it was such a massive drastic change from the digitized motion capture graphics,i know the developers had to move with the times but it was too different for me,im happy just to continue playing the first three games because im an old school fool lol

there was a show on a channel Called Sky 1, but i cant remember the name of it. It was the best i had ever seen. sadly it was canceled :(.

I love this game. But they coulda added more brutality. Its awesome they brought back the nostalgia finishers like Liu Kangs arcade drop, and Scorpions Toasty, but I would love to see Liu Kangs fireball fatality blow Darkseid to pieces... I hate darkseid... cheap bastard.

The fatalities in the game suck as well, especially Kano's. The main reason was the lack of blood in the game, most likely due to the DC universe character's appereance in the game and the DC character's have never been exposed to gore and blood, because it's a kid friendly company.

with the disconnecting online problem there is a solution whoevers connection is stronger u must use to get a full match.(preferebly over 1 green bar or u will have a lagged match) so if u have 1 green bar and the other player has 2 bars use the other players connection to get a full match. worked for me when i play against players from australia germany france spain belguim canada esc. to find out how strong ur connection is ask a player or look on ur network settings on the dashboard

I just wish they would develop the 2D games even better with the likes of Mortal Kombat Blood Storm (MK Game Development project) and Mortal Kombat Project (Mugen based). With what Capcom did with Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, surely they could produce a similar if not better enhancement to the 2D versions?

I'm still not a big fan of 3D MK. I suppose it was inevitable, but the beauty of the 2D digitized graphics was what made the game in my opinion. 2D to 3D sometimes works, but on this occasion, MK4, Deadly Alliance, Deception, Armageddon and this game just don't seem up to par (and also I feel the violence and gore has been diluted because they appear in 3D - thereby losing the realism of the violence and gore in a digitized graphical aesthetic). Just my opinion.

i think what would have been good levels would be like the rooftop stage on mk then when you fall of the building you could end up on the metropolis stage. or you can get the old school church stage and then when you upper cut them or something they could fall into the hell stage. just ideas ive thought about. tell me what you think.

2 reasons. A the distance between Australia and the US or UK makes the ping delay long, secondly its more severs for the connection to route through, thats more delays especially if there is a crap sever in there somewhere...

Our 18 rating is differant than yours, 18+ here means restricted to people 18 and over, GTA isnt rated 18+ so we have GTA. But they took out the prostitutes from the game because they aussie censors felt that killing them after sex was to violent. GTA 3 was on the shelfs for 2 weeks before it was pulled and edited...I have the unedited version. :D

I know how the combos work, I just didn't know Kitanas. Judging the game on combos would be rather silly, all they are is a bunch of consecutive hits...not much to comment on really.

Yes there is, play Street Fighter and tell me it doesnt come down to combos. Play MK4 even and tell me it didnt come down to combos in that. You cant judge the characters, however you can review the graphics and things like that. But without knowing the in depth mechanics there is no point in judging the game.

This game kicks ass! I love the story line. I think the only reason for this game not getting alot of unlockables was the fact that alot of people didnt believe in it enough so they just felt like testing the reaction. I so happy that they are going to have some downloadable for this Xmas and doomsdays and kung lao and many more. also I hope Ed Boon gets the rights in making street fighter vs Mk. Its would be great to see Raiden vs Blanka.

This is the first truly good MK since Trilogy. OK, its very shallow but its solid enough, and fun which is what matters. It plays like the classic MK while still keeping it fresh unlike Deadly Alliance, Deception and the god awful Armeggedon. Good stuff.

I hope Midway see this review. Although it is an awesome game it lacks some old schools elements like MK classic arenas and full gore. I am sure that Midway focus on gameplay and fighting engine and in this sector they did an excellent job. I am also sure that in MK9 they will add all the missing elements and combined with this fighting engine we will get an absolutely excellent MK that we fans and Midway will be proud of for many years like back in 90's! 5 stars from me for your total mk8review

Love your reviews TMK..... I agree with the select screen comment you made, when I'm selecting my character on a fighting game I like it when the music pumps me up. I think it would have been cool if they had like the Mortal Kombat Theme song, like the one that starts by yelling "Mortal Kombat". It's getting old now, It's a Canon Ixus 500 the "movie modes" back then were time limited because the memory cards were still in there infate stages, the companies never thought someone would want unlimited time. But when I get my new camera it's going to be sweet.

This "shitty" cartoon had a run for over 20 years you idiot. The show had a great plot and made you want to sit on the edge of your seat to determine what'll happen next. The character's could be funny and serious at the same time. So don't go criticizing a series if you don't know how deep and detailed the storyline is.
