the guy in the video says Linux. Linux is a kernel unlike Lunix which is a Unix-like operating system. Linux is actually Debian/Gnu/Kde based. =/= Unix based. Unix has been extinct ever since FreeBSD.

LUnix is a UNIX like OS for the commodore64.

Debian is a distribution, Gnu is a collection of programs, and KDE is a desktop environment that sits on top of the X-Windows server. FreeBSD is NOT UNIX. Linux and FreeBSD are UNIX Like.

While Linux doesn't directly support DX, go look up Cedega.

As far as video editing: Cinelerra is a non-linear video editor that has been around for a long time. Linux is not illegal anyone saying that need a punch in the face!

The linux kernel is actually designed to feel like the Minix which came with a wonderful book about "How to write an OS"
