  • Sweet Canary and what a lovely song! I just bought a Canary after not having one fore 30 years. I am waiting on him to start singing so I play other people's birds to encourage him. Thank you for sharing you bird's song with us.

  • Ha ha! Your bird is like mine. He hears music and feels the need to compete. I always think he's saying, "I can sing better than THAT!"

  • Hi Awesome owner of this b-e-a-utiful Canary........what type is your canary because i'm willing to buy an exact copy of your Canary. when i go to to a bird shop....what should i say to the owner of the bird shop ??? what breed or what type...uhhhh...your bird got me head over heals....hehehe, i don't know what to say :).

  • I put this on and my canary starting singing too! xDDD

    my little pikuh <3

  • @NYPOLICE - the song i the background is "Break My Stride" by Blue Lagoon. Totally English. :)

  • Coolio! My mom has a canary and whenever it watches this video, it starts singing!

  • his living situation is better then mine NICE !!!!!

  • its good

  • I want one~!

  • lol my bird looks so similiar to that.

except the colour of it is a little lighter and he has yellow colour near his end.

  • I would really love a green canary but never had a bird before. Do they poop everywhere when outside the cage? thanks!

  • yes.

  • @ mattacuk well have you any idea on how to toilet train them ??? haha yes course they will

  • good filming! i love the canary i have just got my canaries ive got two of them and we might try recording a singing canary for them to sing along to

  • when my canary hears music it dances and takes a bath

  • Yeah it works for my canary too. He sings allot when he hears this canary singing. Cool idea!

  • i had a pair of Spanish canary's an one of them died one week ago so i play your canary for my canary and she likes it she starts sing along

  • out where, outside? Do you know one thing about a canary and where it's from?

  • This is a domesticated canary... it would die in the wild. This canary has a beautiful home AND a kind, caring owner that allows him to fly around the house!

  • I find it cool that he goes in and out of the cage. Is he flighty when you come around? Does he recognize you and want to be let out?

  • ya mine fly around all the time and go into the cage for food and to roost

  • cute bird :)

  • i have a cat and getting one canary in a few hrs will my cat be like sylvester the cat and try to eat my tweety ?

  • my old pet canary wouldnt stop singing wen the tv was on and wen it was off it was quiet.

  • Such a beautiful song! Have you ever woken up to this beautiful singing?

  • I play this for my cat as well, he loves your bird :)

  • wow i like your caging style!!

it looks great and seems to be out of place by hanging that cage up high like that.

you have a fine bird as well!! :)

  • Awh, so sweet!

  • Such a beautiful bird, and a lovely voice. I got 2 canaries today, a male and a female called Romeo and Juliet. =) x

  • omg, he is so cute!!!

  • He's BEAUTIFUL. Lovely voice...

  • My cats love this video. I put it on and they both jump onto the desk to get as close as they can. :)

  • lol

  • I have four canaries and when I got them I had no idea what they were. I also played videos from yt including yours and right away one of them began to sing . So far that is the only one. I will continue this as he is young yet and a little ruff around the edges. The more I play it ...The better he gets. I have 2 American singers ans 2 Glosters and it is one of the Glosters that is singing .

  • guys could you tell me how can I know my canary is male or Fimale plz

  • i guess u find out wat like dogs do u can find out how dogs are female are male by how they make wi wi

  • If it sings, it's a male. Sometimes females will perform calls, but not songs, but this is somewhat rare. Otherwise, during breeding season -Spring- if there is a very clear protrusion where you might guess a penis is that protrudes out and a cone-like end versus a very round rear end, then it's a male.

  • I have a canary that builds nests and mounts the supposed male bird. It sings but not fully, its more like the sound of a person whistling softly and rapidly. I have a feeling its a hen, as it makes nests and accepts food from males, but I dont know why it mounts the male bird.

  • Cool!

  • nice

  • Do you always have to separate the male and females?

  • I think that's only if you don't want anymore.

  • i keep playing this over and over to my little canary, same as yours but yellow and brown. Lovely video.

  • Your canary is soo cute and he is same like my canary but my canary is brown and orange :)

  • beautifull bird! it sings the same way as my canary Goldy

  • Your canary is also like mine. I have a Bronze Itense, male. He also sings great, it sounds like you said, like I have several canaries.

Some people don't realize canaries come in several colors, the standard being 'Yellow'.

Males will sing, when they are alone, as canaries are solitaire birds, but will sing even more, when there is a female around!!!

    Happy Birding.

  • My canary sings for like 2 hours if he is alone we have 3 canary he have to be with some one and seriosly hes singing kills man, once my friend thougt i had like about 20 birds at home and it look some much like that bird :D

  • guys, my canary is 1 years old and he cant singing. I think I have to sing for him and teach him. but siriusly.could someone tell me what should I do?

  • I play different canaries on YouTube for mine and now he sings. Try it.

  • would it be a female ? because females dont sing ... they squeek

  • no acually males sing and female squeek i got one male and female

  • ur canary may be a female as females dont sing , its the males that do all the singing .... this is how we can tell what sex they are

  • Awesome!

  • my male got jealous stared freaking on my hen when he heard Ur Lil guy sing lol

  • i have an canary too

  • Thank you for the video. I am planning on buying a canary because I hear they sing pretty. I used to keep parrots (senegal was my last) for over 20 years. I got tired of the demands and bites, so decided to try a new species. I didnt know what their singing sounded like, so thanks again for the post. I cant wait. I will get one in a month when I finish moving :)

  • your singing canary made my 9 finches quiet down....lol

  • lol My canary got a nasty leg infection and it had to be amputated. lol He looks like a pirate canary now. lol I'm thinking of giving him an eye patch too. lol He still sings though. with one leg. lol

  • lmao!

  • sme here!

  • kool canary man, i have 4 of them, they got all excited when i played this clip and started singing aswell . is urs a roller or a chopper?, sounds like a chopper

  • what's the different between a chopper canary and roller? i'm new to it. i might get me one sometime soon!

  • i have a canary but i cant train him to come out without flying away or coming to my hand. what did u do?

  • nice singing

  • Did you ever think of getting him a mate to breed him?

  • how old is ur canary?

  • about a year old at the time of this video

  • I have to tell you that I let my bird listen to this and actually heard him sing for the first time! It was amazing!

  • thats weird tis the first time my canary's sang aswell!

  • butfull

  • Aww, I love your canary's red color! It's so cute~! =3

I really wish I could let my canaries out of their cage and just sit around, but I'm always afraid they'll fly away or something. =[

  • do all type of canarys sing like that?

  • @ pizza38921111:

From what I know, all canaries can probably sing like that. =]

It's mostly the male canaries who sing though since they sing to attract a mate or something (I think). xD

  • so a male by itself will sing by its self

  • Well if a canary is solitary, he'll probably be lonely. =[ If you play music or talk to your canary a lot, that can get him to sing. C=

  • A canary will actually only sing if you teach it. They copy the sound of other birds!

Our canary sings like this, but it copies the finches that sing outside the window!

And yes, it is predominantly male canaries that sing!

  • canaries are not mocking birds, they have their own vocabulary and do not imitate other bird calls. But they do need an experienced "teacher" canary to give him lessons when they're young, otherwise he will just give off limited chirps.

  • i love this video i have the same canary but only one and whenever i play this video for him he starts singing with your canary lol thanx :D

  • do all type of canarys sing like that?

  • niiiice a pure green breed canary

  • can every male canary sing like that?

  • Get your canary to sing by getting a classic canary songs cd or make a playlist of a couple of clips from websites and put them in repeat mode in windows media. Play it for your bird- if he's a boy, he'll sing.

  • he sings if he heres others canary singing

  • oh he's so pretty! little sweetheart. Love how he flies back in the cage as if to say "okay, the shows over!" LOL

  • Wow welldone, but how do you get it to sing ?? Reply please...

  • Wait, can you finger-train canaries?

I always thought they were like finches

  • hey would it be better to have two canaries if i went to work til 3pm, so the canaries wouldnt get bored? if so, which genders get along the best?

  • Canaries are so territorial. They do better as single birds. Definitely do not put 2 males together!

  • leave him outside with wild birds, hell learn morr calls

  • i have a canary that sang but i knocked its cage over and almost killed it so now i wont sing...how will i make it sing again

  • Is it in a room with a radio? Ours has the freedom of my daughters bedroom and wont sing while we're there, but I've stood outside the door and heard it 'replying' to the radio.x

  • how cute!!!! aww that looks like a really healty canary.. i have one to and he is tame like that.

  • I have a canary too, small and tiny but with a potent voice.
