I think the idea that the government was based on was a great idea but has been corrupted. Back then when it was at its base elements it worked but they find new ways to circumvent the constitution every day. Something that rings true to me is United we stand. I am afraid of the direction the personal relationships are going.

In addition to "anarchism", I think "progressive", a word that you seem to use a lot, is another word that should be used carefully. Many people probably would associate that term primarily with the socialism-is-inevitable-so-sit-down-and-shut-up crowd.

All of that being said, I think the issue of the use of violence as an offensive tactic is more complex than is presented here. To posit that violence as a tactic should never be considered seems extremely short sighted in my mind. The more intellectually honest stance would be to ask questions such as: When, where, and how, is offensive violence justifiable and potentially effective in ways that other tactics are unable to be?
For some really interesting takes on these questions check out Ward Churchill (Pacifism as Pathology), Derrick Jensen (End Game pt1&2), and John Zerzan. Even if you dont agree with them, I think their thoughts on the subject are well worth looking into. Remember, the state has dominated civil society through the threat and use of violence for at least 6,000 years. Remember that every function of the state is ultimately based on violence. Why is this?
It is because violence is so terribly effective. There are a handful of social revolutions that where achieved in significant part through non-violent protest vs. thousands of social revolutions achieved largely through violence. Say what you will about the results, I think it is clear that to say that it is impossible for violence to ever achieve desired social outcomes is just as asinine as to say that non-violent tactics can never succeed.
At this time I do not believe that a campaign of violent reform or revolution could be either justifiable or effective. I truly hope for peacefully change. But in all honesty future generations will not care if we were nice, or morally pure. The will care if they are free from oppression. Results do matter.
Again, I am not here to argue against any specific claim of Luke12000s. Rather, I am only attempting to offer a different point of view.

Lets say a group of people are oppressed and do not defend themselves but instead submit by either complying with the agressors demands, or taking whatever harm they are dealt. maybe some view a move from submissive-compliance to non-compliance as a fight in some way?

All of that being said, I think the issue of the use of violence as an offensive tactic is more complex than is presented here. To posit that violence as a tactic should never be considered seems extremely short sighted in my mind. The more intellectually honest stance would be to ask questions such as: When, where, and how, is offensive violence justifiable and potentially effective in ways that other tactics are unable to be?

Even if you dont agree with them, I think their thoughts on the subject are well worth looking into. Remember, the state has dominated civil society through the threat and use of violence for at least 6,000 years. Remember that every function of the state is ultimately based on violence. Why is this?

It is because violence is so terribly effective. There are a handful of social revolutions that where achieved in significant part through non-violent protest vs. thousands of social revolutions achieved largely through violence. Say what you will about the results, I think it is clear that to say that it is impossible for violence to ever achieve desired social outcomes is just as asinine as to say that non-violent tactics can never succeed.

At this time I do not believe that a campaign of violent reform or revolution could be either justifiable or effective. I truly hope for peacefully change. But in all honesty future generations will not care if we were nice, or morally pure. The will care if they are free from oppression. Results do matter.
