This guy is good, folks. Very good. He is obviously a professional jazz pianist. He's got the hands and fingering of a classical pianist which IMO he was before becoming a jazz pianist. Wish that I knew 1/10th of what he knows and could play that way.

I been playing for a bit now and this is the kinda of genre i want to learn at the moment, what type of jazz is this called? what styles or artist are you emulating? Sounds so fun BTW, this is the kind of music people really like to hear off a piano when just sitting around the house ya know, not everyone wants to hear pop or classical even though i appreciate both styles.

doesnt matter how old you are...im 14 and jazz is KICKASS. but so is rock, blues, and even metal (some...not a lot though)

every genre has something good in it, its just that you gotta look for it in some more than others

agree.. but disagree with what u said about metal. check out the bands, diablo swing orchestra, cynic, sigh, oranssi pazuzu, ayreon, enslaved, vektor, Therion, devin townsend.. thats just a few. there are many amazing metal bands out there.. just have to look.

Of course there is someone better than you, but there is also people who would love to have talent to play even a little. Get a little from Rudess, a little from Wakeman or this dude and make a style of your own. It's a matter of injecting YOUR personality into the music and play in a style that is your own and allows you to express how YOU feel. There is room for everyone.... But that is only MY opinion.

the only reason I see as to why jazz is not popular among younger players is simply that it takes a lot longer, and you need to be schooled and practice , very hard to learn all the modes and changes ...whereas a lot of younger players just do licks and want to be in the limelight sooner ...this video is a perfect example of someone who has had training and dedication to learn the instrument and use it properly....great post, thanks....
