  • el mejor defensa que he visto

  • @Atmaboy I can't leave this uncommented. Part two of your statement is true, he deserves the jersey to be hung up, he was one of the best the team had. But best, even greatest, of all time? That's tough, considering he's never won a championship and never won an award for a feature of his playing like defensive player of the year, or even player of the month. I'll give it to him though, he made all defensive team one year and second defensive team 3 years.

  • @crazytrain81 You're certainly entitled to disagree, but I'd like to make the case for him. Most of the role players people like to mention: Rodman, Havlicek, Horry, Bowen, etc) were either elevated on multi-win championship teams with superstars and/or stars in there own right. The Kings of that era essentially functioned as a smart, well-coached college team where the team succeeded because they understood how to be greater than the sum of there parts.

  • @crazytrain81 I respected a player like Micheal Cooper who was a great defender, play maker and all around teammate, but not a scoring machine. In my eyes you could swap Cooper for Doug on those Laker teams and be just as successful. I'm pretty sure he was top 4 in 03 for DPOY, had a great eye for steals and just so many intangibles. He was as dependable a player you'd find but what I think endeared him to so many Kings fans was how positive, humble and kind he was as a person.

  • @crazytrain81 Oh, take it with a grain of salt of course, but CWebb did say at his jersey ceremony that if he was building a team, Doug would be the first player he would take ;)

  • @CaptainAtma For a Kings fan to talk down Robert Horry after game four (I was at Staples Center when that happened), that's tough. Check out Horry's days at Houston, he was bomb. And as I said, for that team, he was great, but he didn't help them get a championship because as great as they almost were, they never won a title. I'm not degrading Doug Christie, he's a hell of a player. I'm just not hyping him up to more than he was: another good roll player. Cooper could score btw, like Rodman.

  • @CaptainAtma Coop and Rodman weren't needed for that. Christie was needed to make steals and hit a three here and there. He did that, great for him. Doesn't make him "Great" though.

  • @crazytrain81 Look at it again , Fisher flopped he did it the entire series . Vlade may be known for it , but Fisher and Horry were right there with him . And this play fisher ran into Webber and flopped out of the picture .

  • @2002films Webber, as great of a power forward as he is, threw his body into fisher. He didn't establish both feet, he threw his knee, which I've done cheaply as a basketball player in college, so I know, and he lowered his shoulder. To make sure that I'm right, I just watched it. I watched the high resolution close up, the game footage and the highlight of it or instant reply for that nights sport center (ESPN archives their episodes). Horry didn't flop, I can't remember when he did.

  • @crazytrain81 You are wrong . And i can prove what you are saying is without merit . First off Fisher flopped on that play , Expecting to get that call . He took a risk of flopping and he failed .He ran into Webber . 2nd if you dont remember Horry flopping in that series then obviously you havent watched the entire series . Just a little fan boy who watches clips on youtube and thinks you know the series . I was there pal .

  • @2002films Dude, first off, I'm not your pal dipshit. And second off, I've watched the Lakers since basically I was born. I was at game 4 when Horry crushed the Queens because Divac doesn't know how to grab the ball. Thirdly, I play college basketball and I will tell you right now that you cannot dip your shoulder when you are setting a screen. Webber bent down a little and dipped his shoulder. You were there, and you are still complaining. There is no arguing this because you're irrational.

  • @2002films How about you work on keeping the Kings in Sacramento, or getting them out of last place in the west. Yeah, my team lost to the champions, but at least we made the playoffs. Hell, at least we were over .500. I watched that series, and in the end, I was happy to know that the best team won, and they did. But you're going to go on about your market conspiracies and try to act like a complete smart ass. At least I have a team, and I don't hate. All you do is talk a bunch. Get a team.

  • @crazytrain81 The owners above anything else is about making money Thats why there into this business .So if the Magoofs try to get away on cheap talant to get ready moving if the middle of the night what can i do ? Where does this all come from ? the 2002 rigged title . The kings knew the league is supporting big markets , and its true look at the track record no small teams win , people say San Antonio but Texas is known world wide .

  • @2002films Lol, alright Michael Moore. You go ahead and make a documentary on that and see how much money you make.

  • @crazytrain81 There was a documentary made. I think it was called, "Tim Donaghy writes testifies in a lettered court document to federal agents." I heard it was kinda dry, so Lakers fans, who tend to be more into glitz than substance, didn't pay attention.

  • @rodohanlon I got referred to a couple of documentaries made on the subject, both were full of fallacy and propaganda, and both demonize the Lakers. If the NBA truly was involved in rigging the series, than it's David Sterns fault, not the Laker's as a basketball team. It's interesting though, seeing as to how this offseason turned out, to assume that David Stern favors the Lakers. All in all, people are dwelling on the past and not moving forward.

  • @crazytrain81 Donaghy sang like a bird in a statement to federal agents, and you're talking about "someone's (whose?) documentary being full of propaganda". I do agree that David Stern was responsible. However, there's plenty of irritation left over for Lakerdom who insists they won fair. Secondly, David Stern would've loved to let CP3 go to the Lakers, if it wouldn't have left the lockout looking so pointless. The owners hadn't even gone home yet!

  • @rodohanlon Some dude named 2002films made a documentary about that, and so did another guy that he referred me to. I still think, given what happened in game 5, the Lakers won fair. Game 1 was a fair win for LA, game 2 was a fair win for Sacramento, game three was an unfair win for Sacramento (Shaq got hacked with no calls), game 4 was fair, game 5 was a blown call at the end, thus the Kings won, and game 6 was a blown call at the end, thus the Lakers won. Game 7 was a Laker win. That's that.

  • @rodohanlon Really? Stern likes the Lakers, after he insisted that the trade rumors for Dwight Howard cease once he started saying the "L" word. Stern claimed that he wanted CP3 to stay in New Orleans, but where did he end up, in LA. The strange thing is the LA team he's on is not the Lakers, it's the Clippers (who, though they have the talent, are not a better team). That's Stern's way of saying "Fuck you," to the Lakers, even though Josh McRoberts is a badass.

  • @rodohanlon I have heard more people bitch about 2002 than people who bragged about the Kings beating the Lakers (even if Bynum was out that game). It's sad. Really, the Kings, talent for talent, matching up against the Lakers, were not better in 2002. They were a good team, but not experienced, not as dynamic, and not as talented as the Lakers were during their Dynasty.

  • @crazytrain81 Yeah Bynum was out that game. But let's recall why: A good suspension for being immature and young when the Mavs thrashed the Lakers last year. He's a great player and (much like DeMarcus Couins, though not as bad) a little maturity could help him out a lot. As to the Kings, they were a much more dynamic team than the Lakers. Everyone could really pass or shoot, and most were also a threat to drive. If that's not dynamic then you're looking for a circus with bearded women on court.

  • @rodohanlon I admit, after the end of last year, I wasn't fond of Bynum at all, but since he cleaned up his act and presents himself better, I've started to like the guy. Not to mention how well he has been playing. Here's what the Kings had: they had talented players, they had great roll players, they had 2 all starts (Mike Bibby and Chris Webber) and they had an average center, and hell I'll give it to them, a very loud arena and a good fan base, at the time.

  • @crazytrain81 Props for Bynum upping his game. Kings-wise, how about one of the best shooters in league history? Peja: 4th all time # of 3 pts made, #31 all-time 3pt %. And Divac average?! He was on 2 FIBA world championship teams, 2 Olympic Silver teams. Wiki:He's one of six players in NBA history to record 13,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, 3,000 assists and 1,500 blocked shots, along with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal, Kevin Garnett and Hakeem Olajuwon. That's average??

  • @rodohanlon Peja didn't blossom until he went to New Orleans. Back then, he was just another roll player. Do you know who was as good of a shooter as Peja at the time? Rick Fox. Look at his shot percentage. He didn't take many shots, but when he did, he made them. Also, I'll give it to you Turkoglu was a good player as well. Divac is what I call the "any other' center. He could beat up any other center, the no names, Kerry Collins of the Nets for Christ sakes,

  • @rodohanlon (cont.) but against the big names: Shaq, Mutumbo, Battie even, he came up short. Also, I have no respect for a man, who after slapping the ball to Horry who made the winning shot, who says that it was just a "luck shot". He also was notorious for talking shit, so was Shaq, I know, but the difference is Shaq could back it up. He also chocked in game four by missing a big free throw. I was there, I saw it happen, and like a truevLaker fan, I didn't leave when they were down by 20.

  • @rodohanlon Here is why the Kings lost: Divac and Miller couldn't stop Shaq without fouling them (and they won game three because they got away with fouling him). They couldn't finish, and they didn't have finishers (the Lakers had Robert Horry aka "Big Shot Bob" and Derek Fisher, a clutch point guard). They only finisher they had, when he got an open shot, was Bibby (which explains game 5, and the the blown illegal screen call, on that note). Finally, they were inexperienced.

  • @2002films Oh and by the way, check the Game 5 ending again. I didn't notice before, but Webber, besides dipping his shoulder and running into him, also pushed him, then pulled his arms away to make it seem like he was innocent.

  • @Atmaboy I always been mad at the organization for trading him and not letting him retire , one of the best defenders in the game .

  • Missed calls happen , but league assistance to give the lakers a victory because it meant more revenue for the league is another thing .

  • tyreke is wearing his number now

  • In 2002 the NBA league went Hollywood when the NBA commissioner David stern ordered 2 refs to manipulate the series when a small market Sacramento kings team taking the lead in the series 3-2 and Putting LA in risk of being eliminated . game 6 is the worst officiated game in NBA history with 27 fts in the 4th quarter alone full of phantom call to make sure LA won the game , why ??? the game is global the league will make 100x when LA is in the finals compared to a small market kings team .

  • @2002films That's what the Kings get for the game 5 bullshit officiating that went on in the end, and the amount of uncalled fouls on Divac, Webber, Cristie Peja against Shaq in game 3. Don't pull your conspiracy "poor Kings" bullshit. The Lakers won, period. Work on getting your team back together.

  • @crazytrain81 With your comment you just proved you are biased for Kobe and the lakers and would lie threw your teeth if it meant trying to give them credit . So your saying the kings deserved to have game 6 fixed for the lakers on a possible missed call at the end of game 5 when it went the kings way ? Lets go back to game 4 when the lakers got a 3 by S. Walker right before half time with the ball in his hands at 0.00 The lakers run would of been short and kings win if it was called fair

  • @2002films Yeah dude, I'm a Laker fan, but you're just as biased as me, you're a Laker hater. Dude, keep conspiracy theories to government and don't fuck up sports. I'm not a Kings hater, I don't like them naturally, but I'm not a hater. I love my team, I grew up with them. I'm a fan. Get a team or shut the fuck up.

And to live on your level of technicality, great, the Lakers won two unfair games and the Kings won two unfair games. Three fair games remain, which the Lakers took 2-1. Get over it!

  • @crazytrain81 Whatever makes you feel better about the lakers getting league assistance to beat a small market kings team in a lakers elimination game . It was more fake then WWE . The sport is already contaminated

  • @2002films Dude, don't watch the sport. Go stand outside Staples Center or whatever arena you're nearest to and protest, but don't contaminate basketball with conspiracy.

And again, your logic is unsound. It shouldn't have been a Laker elimination game. Game 5 was stolen by the Kings because the refs IN SACRAMENTO didn't call an illegal screen on Chris Webber who knocked over, not screened, Derek Fisher. Serves the Kings right to lose game 6 unfairly. The only fair win games were 1, 2, and 7.

  • @crazytrain81 I'd say there's a significant number of uncalled fouls happen in every NBA game, for both sides. I accept the explanation that the refs can't see everything or are unsure. But what is the explanation for calling a phantom foul? "I couldn't quite see, so obviously he fouled." Seriously, they treated Lakers like delicate China that might be broken by a light breeze.

  • @rodohanlon I was just at the Lakers vs Nuggets game not too long ago. It really has to do with the refs hired for that game, and though the Lakers won, the refs were horrible. Honestly I can't account for a ref's decision, but the decision of a ref has nothing to do with the demeanor of a team.

  • @crazytrain81 By the way, if there were so many uncalled fouls on The Kings, it fails prove the league didn't favor the Lakers, or that the league treated both the same. If the Lakers were the cash cow, more Laker games were the better. The series should be extended by any means to maximize the number of Laker games, regardless of the opponent. Of course, you can't maximize the number of Laker games without making sure they also win the series, ensuring yet another series.

  • @rodohanlon That maybe true for game 6, but game 5 was a blown call for the Lakers (no illegal screen called on Webber when he pushed and shouldered Derek Fisher to the ground, and admitted, after he retired, to doing it when he was interviewed about the series). You could maybe say that the league wanted a longer series because the rivalry attracted more viewers, but since game 7 was a fair called game and a good game, you can't assume that the league favored the Lakers.

  • one of the smoothest games nobody talks about.

  • If 1:30 with Rick actually showing emotion doesn't tell you Chrisite is a GREAT, not good, GREAT player, I don't know what will. Whether it be players, coaches, analysts, announcers or fans, I will NEVER understand "pretty good defender" when it comes to him. During his era in the early 2000's, NOBODY locked down the oppositions good 2 or 3 position player better than Doug. Kobe, VC, Ray, Pierce, T-Mac, LBJ, for the 3rd time, NOBODY. Bowen, Battier, Artest, good, but NOT BETTER than Doug.

  • Man those were the good old days..I will always consider The Kings to be 2002 champs and if Webber doesn't go down with the knee in Dallas maybe that year too. Great team, plus who can forget Doug giving it to that arrogent Rick Fox. he though he was hot stuff with Shaq backing him up but how many championships did he lead Boston too?

  • This guy could play three different positions, sg, pg and sf.

  • He was such a great defensive player.

  • loved him with the raptors!

  • God I love Doug Christie

  • nice vid

  • but Y?

  • nice move.

  • oh how we need doug christie. bring him back as a defensive coach

  • Best man on that team, only missed like 3 games his whole time there, he was a defensive lock, and all-time leader in steals in Sac Kings history. but Kings coulda had it, Vlade risked flopping to much, i never liked Webber, he took a lotta bad shots, but Bibby worked his ass off with Christie and B-Jack was sixth man every year, or shoulda been. Stojakovic was good, but kinda a streaky shooter

  • so he retired in .... ????????????

  • Im a Laker fan...but that team was awesome..so much versatility..perhaps the greatest passing team of all time, or atleast of recent memory.

  • @WonderBread006 finally found a lakers fan that isn't super ignorant

  • Yah Ure Right.. , Definitely

  • i love this kings. divac,webber,stojakovic,christie,bibby.

    this team's a contender.

  • was....

  • me too, this is my favorite team before

  • Yup. Hes my favorite player too. He was a one-man defensive clinic.

  • @quatkatrine fuck u Doug missed that shot but he's not a great shooter, don't forget Peja AIRBALLED a wide open 3 and he's a great shooter, plus he didnt need to take that, he was wide open and there was plenty of time. And in OT Webber kept throwing up shots instead of tryna drive to the basket. It was a team effort basically to lose that game, except for Bibby, he was the only one not pussy enough to take shots

  • he was my favorite kings fan and I was pretty pissed when they traded him for Mobley

  • @chrisdofer320 he didnt get traded for mobley

  • @peacelovewinn yeah he did

  • @chrisdofer320 he didnt get traded for mobley idiot they were on the same team 2003-2004 season

  • @dmcballers look it up anywhere, I cant post a link but I have one

  • @chrisdofer320 That trade pissed me off as well , clown move for sure .

  • @2002films I'm still mad at Geoff...

  • @chrisdofer320 if they kept him, he would have shut ray allen down in the playoffs that year

  • @chrisdofer320 agree! that was so stupid trading him for mobley

  • @chrisdofer320 Completely agree, I teared up when I saw it. Fortunately I've been lucky enough I've met him 3 different times, he actually (kinda) knows who I am lol. Well he recognizes my face I guess.

Nontheless will still always be my favorite King!!

  • @chrisdofer320 if they only kept christie, they would have had a defensive stopper on allen in that 05 series. They could have easily made it to the conference finals against the suns

  • @chrisdofer320 kings and the 05 suns would have been a dream matchup.... 2 similar teams

  • doug rules!

  • nice doug christie...awesome...nice 311 song AMBER...

  • love that pass-first line-up and their super offense was great but...

doug was probably the only player in that line-up who actually knows how to play D

  • good job

  • the kings rule!

  • I miss the old Kings team....they were so fun to watch! :(

  • he was an amazing players and a great defender

  • One of the greatest defensive player of all time! Doug we`re missing you!

  • Thanks, It`s awesome!
