if I was to make one of these stoves like that, how would I avoid it exploding like a Molotov cocktail when you put the pan on ???? shouldn't it have vents or some thing?????
@leonardo1480 The stove is a low pressure design that only burns alcohol. The seal the pan makes is not enough to overcome any high pressure situation. The stove would merely vent excess pressure through a combination of a slightly higher (1-3 psi) prssure at the jets combined with escaping pressure where the pot meets the stove. Now if you put gas in one, it would be a different story. That would cause a dangerous fire or explosion hazard. That is true of all alcohol stoves.
@wonkeytjuuuh NO! Never use any fuel other than alcohol! Butane and petroleum based fuels could cause a dangerous fire or explosion that could injure or kill. When used with methyl or ethyl alcohol the stove is very reliable. This recommendation applies to all alcohol stoves.
@DMxNemesis The stove or the fuel? The stove will burn up to about 16-18 minutes tops, and the the stove will last as long as you take care of it. Hope this helps.
Just because a design is older does not make it obsolete, this type stove has proven itself more times then any other out there. It is still one that I consider and take with me on trips. Very good video.
