As I know, The DSG version 122HP TSI has 7 gears while manual's got 6 gears. Therefore, the DSG version reach 100KM at 3rd as the DSG is "shorter" in each gear and the manual version can reach over 100KM at 2nd as the gears are "longer".

I believe that this video is real because the car in the video is a DSG version and it does a faster gears change and the shorter gear makes the car go faster then the manual version

Having the 105hp lawnmover engine, this looks like the 122hp to me, so I'd say it's legit. Remember that Golf speedometer usually lies almost 10km/h at 100. The Golf has a user settable speed warning menu option. This can act as a reminder for tyre speed rating, for example.

122hp version can reach 100 kph in 2nd gear. And can quite easily reach 200 kph. And yes, this is 122hp version. Don't Google "1.4 TSI 122 specs" and be a smart-ass. Try driving one, for a change.

@Joplisan Sorry but 0-160 km/h @ 20 sec isn't possible with 122 HP and 1200 kg car, either this is chiptunned, downhill, bad speedo calibration (possibly due smaller wheels) or best example of this engine ever, but for sure it hasn't 122 HP on crank :)

I own scirocco 160 bhp and believe me if you dont push it to the limits its very economical... 7L/100km (60miles).. Lately i drive it fast and the consuption isn t more than 11L/100km(60miles)... if you drive normal consuption is 8-8,5L/100km... imagine the 122...(of course lower consuption)

Actually, the Dynojet shows a little over 145hp for this car. The factory says 122, because of tax paying reasons. In Germany, the taxes you pay for a car, are depending only on it's horsepower.

The taxes on a car are for Cubic Centimeter.. not on HP.. the HP comes in for Insurance but still this car will be cheap in insurance because its "only" 122 hp.... the Tax per year for this car lies around 90-100 € per year..

I live in germany and i have TDi 110 hp, and i pay 300 euro pr yr because its a 1890cc engine and a diesel.

My wifes car is a MB C180 (1800cc) gasoline and she pays only 138 a year for taxes:)

Only so far as the torque getting to the wheels is better....of course a engines torque starts to slow down after a certain rpm or effectively "running out of breath" so if the engine is running out of breath in 5th but is still increasing in 6th then naturally 6th should be more powerful.

TSI is a very fine thing.

Compressor, that fill in the Turbo slack. In the same second you give full throttle the engine gets instently air from the compressor, then when the turbo is on full load it will take over and send in the air.

So the engine has.

Turbo, Compressor, Intercooler, Dubble chargers. It's a very good engine, go to Volkswagen and try one you're self!

I believe you exaggerate a little bit.. I got the MK6 122hp and the 2nd gear goes a little above 100km/h with the engine revs on ots limits(6.200-6.500 r.p.m.) Also the 122hp model's gearbox can handle lower torque amount than the 160hp one's..so there must be some differences at the gearbox(at least in the construction part)

@djdimisal our 122hp DSG on second gear will max do between 70-80.  It requires the 3rd gear to reach 100km/h in many cars these days. Actully the gearbox is the same in the 90kW and 118kW versions. Our golf does the 6000rpm and that is the limit.

I agree with you that every speedometer highers speed, but it's possible to go by this Golf faster than VW claims. A lot of VW cars with TSI engines was faster in professional car magazine's tests than technical data shows. (Passat 1.8 TSI did 0-100kph in 8,0s instead of official 8,6s, Scirocco 2.0 TSI did 0-100 kph in 6,2s instead of official 7,1s!). VW also has very precise speedometers. Sorry for my bad english.

Either it is not a stock model or it is the 160 HP model. Accelaration after 100 km/h depletes, because the drag is huge at high speed.
