  • Brilliant upload!

  • yep remember the Action and others at The Marquee but share your pain about recent memories! it was a rotten shame they never made it bigger.

  • Used to see The Action and The Who at the Goldhawk club,Shepherds Bush. The Action were better than The Who.

  • Asian sugar babies # lushfmlk.info#

  • Fantastic footage. There must be some more knocking around!! The only other I've seen is the Rolled Gold video of The 100 Club reunion.

  • @doingmyheadin cant you upload it m8t,i spoke to peter watson the guitarist from the action the other night hes got to copies on video ,think theve stopped production of in the lap of mods at the moment ,unless they can covert the vids to dvd

  • RIP Reg King Died OCT 8 2010 Top mod and top mod band.Just ask Paul Weller

Saw them so many times and they just got better. Mods(real mods!!) live forever.

  • @highschoolmusical841 Sometimes forget why I've walked into a room, but I remember every little detail from those days. Great nights at the Marquee and Flamingo, and most of the soon-to-be-big-name bands we saw didn't even have record contracts yet. Remember regularly rubbing shoulders with The Who in The Ship in Wardour Street. Not sure about dole money but, as an East End boy, I only knew ONE student. Walking into the Marquee and hearing the Brian Auger Trinity warming the crowd. Magic!

  • à highschoolmusical841. Je ne connais pas ce groupe, je vais aller découvrir cela.

  • I think This version of "you baby" based on Lovin'Spoonful's version.

  • @BIGSOULMAN1 I was also at that gig – I first saw them as The Boys supporting The Who at the Marquee in 1963. They were too much competition for The Who and they only lasted a couple of weeks! I've got a DVD of the 100 Club gig.

  • thanks for posting this. I've never seen any footage of the Action before, I've always loved the band. Superb!

  • Could someone please help me? I was at the 1999 Action concert at 100Club and I've been interviewed by what seemed to be a Tv crew as I was getting in the Room. I'd like to find out who filmed it to get a souvenir of that great concert. If anyone knows anything about the people who were filming the public in the Club's hall, I'd be glad to know. This video MUST be somewhere! Thanks!

  • BRILLIANT! Thanks for posting this, simply amazing!

  • Thanks for the post and RIP Evans.

  • Just found out that Mike Evans, bass player with The Action, died last week. A truly sad, sad loss. R.I.P Mike, and a heartfelt thanks for the wonderful, timeless and Soulful music of The Action.

  • @soulagent65

Boy where have I been? I just now found out about it. They were one of my favorite mod bands besides the Small Faces!

  • The Action were the best , period.

  • great footage thanks for sharing

  • Creation-Action-Small Faces-real mod stuff.Aint seen Rikki Farr for years.Why did I sell my Vespa GS-cause I bought a Mini.This band were the dogs bits-forget the Who,just a load of chancers,this lot were real.

  • Fantastic - never knew about this footage. Thanks.

  • Great to see Rikki Farr, I remember him managing the Action for a while and then worked for him at two Isle of Wight Festivals, he lives in Arizona now but was instrumental in promoting MOD and Soul bands along the South Coast especially at the Birdcage in Portsmouth, great band the Action.

  • lol, silly me! I just checked it, that is my favorite Action group. I like the name you changed it to. Very appropriate! Thank you for creating the group, I really enjoy going on there and checking everything out. It is a small world. haha. :D

  • I will I will! I love the Action groups on facebook, I am a part of a few on there. Thanks very much for the link.

  • I hope it does. that would be such a great thing, I love that song.

  • Fucking awesome. Pretty rare too. Thanks a lot for bringin' it here.

  • I wish I could find a full version of The Action doing "Do I Love You" on a CD or an album, or video or anything! I love their version of that song, and I cannot find it anywhere!

  • Reg King, wow, he's good looking. Quite cute.

  • what a great band!

  • any info appreciated on action and any video from the mod re-union in north london about 2-3 years ago?.

  • wats the song the action are singin at the start ?

  • so is their second LP Jug of Love on Blue Horizon...they also did a solo LP for Reg King on Utd Artists which is ok....very good in parts but a bit over orchestrated.

  • the action also recorded another ronnie spector?ronnettes song,"hey sa lo ney"but song had ben recorded by lot of others so not sure who did original.

brill band the action!.i still search for the stuff, old 45s lps etc.

  • Mickey Lee Lane- on Swan records.

  • The Ronettes did You Baby as well. As far as I know this is the only footage, its certainly the only film of The Action I've ever seen - Would have been great to see & hear the whole songs though

  • The Action RULES!

    100% blue eyed Soul!

  • is this Reg King and Martin Stone? soon-to-be Mighty Baby?

  • Hi Mertonparka. Its 'Do I love You', originally recorded by The Ronettes (itself a mighty fine version, in fact my fave song of theirs). As far as I know The Action added the 2 Ronettes tracks they perform here to their set around late 1966, but never recorded them

  • Actually The Action did record the song "Do I Love You..." as a demo for Decca Records in 1965 with Mike Vernon producing; Decca passed on the band so they went with Parlophone which yielded producer George Martin. Circa 2001 a couple of UK fans saw an eBay advert for someone in the States who was selling the song on acetate by The Action & they snagged it. The hope is that this track will be featured as a bonus item to accompany the forthcoming book about The Action and the mod movement.

  • @goal2jtb great news mate, never knew this. Please keep up updated on progress of the book, cheers

  • Fine archive footage
