The animation is obviously going for a stylistic look, I get the feeling you just fail to grasp it entirely and explaining it won't really help.

As for the creator, there's nothing wrong with ambitious dreams as long as you don't get lost in them. It looks like he has high hopes but still is down to earth enough to continue just drawing his dogs in some studio. That same ambition is probably what got his design published over the other countless options, ambition is a great tool.
